Space Shuttle's First Flight
1981The first shuttle named Columbia and piloted by John W. Young and Robert L. Crippen saw the launch of the Space Shuttle. This marked a major milestone in the United States' space program, as it was the first reusable spacecraft capable of carrying astronauts, satellites, and other payloads into orbit.

First human in space
1961Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel into space. He orbited the Earth aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft, completing one orbit in 108 minutes. The flight made Gagarin an international hero and a symbol of Soviet technological prowess.
