Guglielmo Marconi successfully sent the first radio transmission across the Atlantic Ocean. The transmission, consisting of the Morse code signal for the letter "S," was sent from Poldhu in Cornwall, England, and received in St. John's, Newfoundland, marking a significant milestone in wireless communication.
Da Vinci's Notebook Sold for $5 Million

One of Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks, known as the Codex Leicester, was sold at auction for $5.12 million. The manuscript, which contains a collection of da Vinci's scientific writings, was purchased by American industrialist and art collector Armand Hammer. This sale set a record for the highest price ever paid for a manuscript at the time.
