Binance is a world-famous exchange with more than 120 million users. It is considered to be a safe place for crypto trading and saving your funds. However, sometimes there can be some issues with your account, so you might get blocked there. In this article, we will discuss the main reasons for blocking a Binance account and what to do if this happens. Let’s get started!

Reasons for Blocking an Account on Binance

Restrictions by Binance may include limitations on deposits, withdrawal of funds, and an account ban. We will talk about them below. First, let's look at the reasons why your account may have such problems:

  1. Saving your funds.

The platform administration can block the account if the login/password has been compromised. The blocking will be temporary until Binance makes sure that your funds are safe. You may not even know that someone has stolen your data; you downloaded something, followed a link somewhere — and scammers are already using your wallet. Binance claims that it sees such actions, which is why exchanges can temporarily block accounts.

  1. Sanctions.

The services of the site cannot be used by people who are located in countries under sanctions. These are Sudan, Iraq, North Korea, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, etc. (the full list is on the website). Since April 2022, there have been certain restrictions for residents and citizens of Russia. For those who had more than 10,000 euros in their account, only the withdrawal function remained. Since 2019, the platform has been banned in the US.

  1. Traveling to "forbidden" countries.

If you suddenly decide to travel to Afghanistan or Zimbabwe, then most likely, Binance will have questions for you. But only if you’ve logged into your account in one of these countries. If you manage to prove that you are not a citizen of these states and do not live there, then access to your account will be restored.

  1. Violation of the rules of use.

These may include:

  • Providing fake or expired documents during the verification process;
  • signs of hacker activity in the account;
  • pump and dump and other means of market manipulation.

You can find all terms and conditions here.

  1. Law Enforcement Requests.

As the platform itself explains - "we do not invent these restrictions, but we are forced to obey them." After all, Binance is a centralized platform.

It is worth noting that if the platform suspects you of hacking, then it reserves the right to restrict access to your account without any explanation. Of course, in most cases, these measures apply to accounts with a large turnover - millions of dollars or more.

Blocking the Deposit and Withdrawal of Funds

In addition to the reasons above, your account may have deposit/withdrawal restrictions if you have recently made any changes to your account.

For example, if you asked to reset two-factor authentication settings. Also, restrictions can be introduced by the exchange or CZ himself (again, the exchange is CEX, not DEX). For example, in June 2022, during the collapse of prices in the crypto market, Changpeng Zhao temporarily banned the withdrawal of coins. These are market factors, and they are objective. In this case, you will hardly be able to change the situation. But if it concerns your account specifically, then most likely, the reason is suspicious activity within the account. In this article, we’ll discuss how to cancel a ban from a PC and phone.

Binance Account Access Restriction

Binance can restrict access to your account. If this happens, then when you try to log in, you will see a message: “Your account has been frozen”. You should click on the “Reactivate” button and follow the instructions that we have painted further in the article.

Earlier, we discussed why this situation could occur. But sometimes, the geopolitical situation makes everything more complicated. Such measures may be temporary: you will not be able to log into your account or go through the KYC procedure. Everything can be restored with a change in the geopolitical situation, but this is all very unpredictable.

How to Unblock a Binance Account From a PC

So, how to unlock a Binance account via PC? To do this, you need to submit a video message to the support. How to do it?

Record a video message with the following text: “Today, *data*, I, *first name, last name*, apply for unblocking my Binance account. I confirm that this is my personal request, and I am asking Binance support to unblock my account linked to *your email*.”

It’s better to record your video in English. Submit it to support. Be sure to attach a photo of an identity document to it. Afterwards, you may have to answer a few security questions – the date of registration of the account and the IP address from which it was registered.

How to Unblock a Binance Account From a Mobile Device

You can also restore access to your account through the application. If your account has been blocked, you will most likely receive the following message in the mobile application: “Your account has been disabled”. All screenshots came from the Binance website.

By clicking on "Reactivate Now", you will receive the message that in order to protect your account, you should change your password and make sure that only you have access to it. And also that the process of reviewing the application will take three business days.

Then you’ll need to pass verification. The method of verification depends on many factors, including the violation for which you were fined. You may have to answer a few questions regarding your account. And perhaps provide an identity document or take a selfie.

When the verification is passed, you will receive the message that the account recovery process has been launched, and you need to wait for approval from the operators.

So there you have it! Now you know what to do in case you’re blocked on Binance.
