The Pokémon universe is full of Pocket Monsters to collect and find. There are many different Pokémon types within the franchise. The most highly sought-after type is the dragon type due to its power and rarity.

Dragonpult is one of these mighty creatures introduced in generation eight of the franchise. Dragonpult is a ghost and dragon type pseudo legendary pocket monster that is powerful and rare.

To obtain this creature, you first have to get Dreepy in Pokémon Sword and Shield, the Pocket Monster’s first evolution. However, this monster is hard to find and can be a challenge even for most veteran players.

What is Dreepy?

Dreepy is a Pokémon introduced in generation eight of the franchise. It is a ghost and dragon type. This Pocket Monster is the reborn ghost of a prehistoric creature and resembles amphibians/reptiles, the dinosaur Diplodicas and a missile. Its Pokedex entry reads:

After being reborn as a ghost Pokémon, Dreepy wanders the areas it used to inhabit back when it was alive in prehistoric seas.

It is incredibly vulnerable when it is born and is one of the weakest dragon-type Pokémon in the franchise. However, with training, it can evolve to become a mighty dragon type.

3 Ways to Find Dreepy in Pokémon Sword and Shield

1. Travel to the Lake of Outrage

You can find the Pocket monster in several locations. Firstly, Dreepy can be found in the wild area. More specifically, the Lake of Outrage in the wild area. The Lake of Outrage is an area located to the far northwest of the expanse.

The area is full of rare Pokémon to catch and items to collect. Dreepy can be found in the region by a random encounter and is not present in the game's overworld. Thus, to find it, you must use grass patches.

The creature can only be obtained by random encounters when it is cloudy, foggy or during a thunderstorm. The chances of getting the beast during these conditions are low, being 1-2%.

2. Enter a Den

You can also find Dreepy in Pokemon Sword and Shield through Pokémon Dens. Dens are located throughout the wild area and house rare Pocket Monsters. You can find it in dens located in Axew Eye, found in the central-southern region of the wild area.

Likewise, you can also find it in Rolling field dens found in the southernmost part of the region. The chances of getting the Pocket Monster varies between 10-20% in the dens.

3. Win a Max Raid Battle

Finally, Dreepy can be found across the Slippery Slope, Old Cemetery, Frigid Sea, Ballimere lake and Giants Foot dens in max raid battles. However, to explore these areas, you must have access to the games expansion pass. The chances of getting the creature in the max raid are high.

How to Catch Dreepy

It is recommended that to catch Dreepy, you buy Pokeballs with a high catch rate, such as ultra or great balls. Likewise, equipping Pokeballs such as the Quick ball or timer ball will also help capture the elusive creature.

Finally, having creatures on your team that can inflict status effects such as sleep and paralysis will aid in the fight. Similarly, using ice type or dragon type creatures will also help you capture the Pocket Monster due to its type disadvantage.

How to Evolve Dreepy in Pokémon Sword and Shield

The monster has three stages of evolution. It evolves into Drakloak at level 50 and Dragapult at level 60. Dreepy has to undergo intense levels of training to evolve, which is difficult due to its meagre base stats.

The monster has the lowest base HP and defence stats of any dragon type and thus is vulnerable. It is recommended that you use EXP share to level up the creature while having another Pokémon battle. Likewise, make sure to use rare candies and other stat-boosting items such as HP Up to ensure the Pocket Monster is ready for battle and evolution.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Dreepy is a rare Pocket Monster you can only find in a few locations in Sword and Shield. The creature is also weak, making it vulnerable. Thus, extra care needs to be taken with the evolution of Dreepy in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
