<a href="https://fueled.com/blog/edtech-is-changing-the-classroom/?utm_source=Medium&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=partnership&amp;utm_content=modern%20day%20classroom&amp;utm_term=ed%20tech" target="_blank">EdTech</a>, shorthand for “educational <a href="https://hackernoon.com/tagged/technology" target="_blank">technology</a>,” has a presence that extends beyond home computers and top universities. This shouldn’t come as a shock. Computers, tablets, and other advanced technology has become widely accepted as a part of daily life, and are now being incorporated into high school and middle school programs nationwide.<a href="http://blog.frontrowed.com/2016/11/17/2017-technology-in-the-classroom-survey-results#comments" target="_blank"> 75 percent</a> of teachers incorporate technology into their daily curriculum. <a href="https://hackernoon.com/tagged/edtech" target="_blank">EdTech</a> is changing the lives of teachers and students in more ways than you would think, but the widespread adoption of tech faces many challenges and uphill battles.

How EdTech is Changing the Classroom Experience

As we’ve learned from The Social <a href="https://hackernoon.com/tagged/network" target="_blank">Network</a>, many new tech innovations are born with a completely different function than what we use them for today. But when it comes to purpose, many pieces of tech, be it old, discarded, or simply in transit are brought to life anew via repurposing. It’s the most clever echelon of users who make this innovation possible.

Innovative Uses of Tech Designers Never Anticipated

The past few weeks saw three disparate but related tech developments that will impact the everyday customer. The first is the announcement of Apple “Town Squares” — by far the standout moment in the Apple Keynote, bar the moment the Face ID demo failed for Craig Federighi. As Apple envisions it, we will one day stroll, connect, <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/12/16296460/apple-self-love-iphonex-iphone8-event" target="_blank">shop</a>, and interface with our communities — as well as, I assume, charge our phones — in the Scandi-style courtyards of Apple Town Squares. This strategy was pioneered by Starbucks, and has recently been adopted by Disney, which is transforming its stores into “experiences,” Refinery29 events, Urban Outfitters’s Space Ninety 8 bar, Goop’s <a href="https://theoutline.com/post/1745/gwyneth-paltrows-goop-conference-made-me-sick" target="_blank">conference</a>, and Barnes &amp; Noble, which is testing concept stores stocked with wine.
