IGN provided a new early look this week for the latest installment of the Shadow Warrior series from Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital. The new video also confirmed the gameplay platform's for the game upcoming launch.
The star of the video is the new Gore Weapon mechanic, along with the reveal of the Doomsday Device Level. While DOOM provided the "Glory Kill" with the 2016 game, it appears Shadow Warrior 3 will have the Gore Weapon feature. You can literally rip out a type of weapon item from monster and mutant enemies.
For example, with the Gassy Obaryion enemy, the players will be able to rip out the Double Trouble gore weapon, which is a set of dual-wielding gatling guns. Killing another enemy appears to yield a type of eyeball ice bomb that can freeze surrounding enemies.
Also showcased in the gameplay footage was the Environmental Kills. Basically, it looks like Lo Wang can shoot or activate booby traps or environmental objects, like stacks of buzzsaw blades that will tear the in-game enemies to shreds.
From the looks of things, Shadow Warrior 3 is still maintaining the gory and bloody, over-the-top violence that goes all the way back to the 1997 original title. Not to mention, it appears the irreverent spirit of the original has also been kept intact.
Additionally, the trailer confirmed that the game will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. So, it appears there won't be any PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S releases for now.
Shadow Warrior 3 is due out later this year. It does not yet have a final release date. You can check out the new gameplay video from IGN First below:
