The hit Star Wars video game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is finally coming to next-gen consoles. Per the official Star Wars website, Fallen Order will receive a release on next-gen consoles later this summer.

While the official release date hasn't been nailed down, this will be good news to new console owners who haven't yet experienced the game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, Lucasfilm has confirmed that the new PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console versions will have a "number of technical improvements."

Additionally, the next-gen upgrade for Fallen Order will include a free cross-generation upgrade to current owners of the title. So, there's no reason to trade in old copies of the game for new-gen versions just yet.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Coming to Next-Gen Consoles

This week's announcement also revealed that gamers can purchase the game for 70% off the Standard and Deluxe Editions of Fallen Order in celebration of Star Wars Day (May the 4th). The discount offer will be good for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Origin and Steam and will be valid through May 12.

Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Fallen Order was initially released for the previous console generation in November 2019. According to EA (via VentureBeat), Fallen Order had sold over 10 million copies by May 2020. So, it's definitely good that free cross-generation upgrade will be made available to current owners.

Fallen Order showcases the young Jedi Padawan, Cal Kestis, who escaped the Jedi Purge at the end of the Clone Wars and now seeks to fight against the Galactic Empire and complete his Jedi training.

Besides Fallen Order, StarWars.com confirmed a number of other discounts and bundles for a boatload of Star Wars and Star Wars-themed gaming titles that fans will likely be interested in for the upcoming Star Wars Day celebration.
