That got me three recommended tech stories by Google, and Google News Technology section as the top recommended source.

Another way is to Bing it:

Still coverage of big tech companies leading the top tech stories, but Bing finds Carbon Dioxide Levels and HBO is more newsworthy than Google. Digging into the most trusted sources: Vox Media owned Verge is lower, CBS owned CNET is higher, and ECT News Network owned TechNewsWorld.com replaces CBC Tech News in the top three.

Interestingly, DuckDuckGo displays images instead of recent stories. Is it the search engines place to display breaking news? Unsure, but the images aren't very valuable to this search ("tech news"). Digging into the most trusted sources: Vox Media owned Verge falls out of the top three and the Ofcom owned BBC Technology News.

Big Tech and Old Media Money are at odds.
