Too Long; Didn't Read

HackerNoon Font is now coming to you in 2.0 - available on brand.hackernoon.com and GitHub. #HF2 is designed using a five-by-five grid system in which each letter shares the same exact width and height as one another. All the edges on each letter are now 100% curved, giving the font a cleaner and more modern look. With #H2F, we hope to keep our unique identity - a retro publication sprinkled with funkiness - but at the same time open ourselves to the modern world.

The HackerNoon Pixel Font 2.0 is now open sourced and available on  brand.hackernoon.com and GitHub

In 2016, a publication was introduced to the world by David Smooke. That publication as we know, later rebranded to HackerNoon, has become one of the many beloved place to read/learn/publish among the tech community, who has familiarized themselves with the pixelated clock and the retro letters.

Originally designed by Tom Snow as part of the HackerNoon logo, the letters were developed into an official typeface back in 2018 and was since put into sparing use for special brand statements and emphasis.

HackerNoon has been marketing itself with the font everywhere we go - from our first crowdfunding campaign that helped us raise over $1M to the debut of The Noonies - the greenest annual tech awards.

The HackerNoon Font has been here since day one, and like many of our 3M+ monthly readers, it has a special little place in our h̶e̶a̶r̶t̶ full-sized aortic pump (I've always loved that line from Chandler/Joey).

And today, that font that you love is elevated. HackerNoon Font is now coming to you in 2.0.

Just like the original font, #HF2 is designed using a

five-by-five grid system
in which each letter shares the same exact width and height as one another, making this font all the more unique in the first place. However, in this version, all the edges on each letter are now 100% curved, giving the font a cleaner and more modern look.

#HF2 emphasizes more on readability and usability - it is prompted to be utilized more in common settings like body text other than just headings and titles.

With #H2F, we at HackerNoon hope to keep our unique identity - a retro publication sprinkled with funkiness - but at the same time open ourselves to the modern world where soft and smooth traits speak technology louder than hard edges do.
