Hey, Gamers!
Here we are again with the final announcement of #gaming-metaverse writing contest. In case you've missed it - too bad the game's over now.
Lol, don't worry! We have a lot of new similar competitions lined up in the future. Currently, you can also participate in our decentralized-internet writing contest - it will last till the end of this year!
The Metaverse has become the new buzzword! HackerNoon partnered with one of the biggest names in the gaming metaverse today: The Sandbox to host the grandest writing competition on the internet. You can also check out the winners of the first and second rounds.
In total, our writer community contributed almost 180 amazing stories in just 3 months! This is SICK! We thank you all for making this competition a big success!
This time the quality of the content was even HIGHER than previous rounds.
There were two particular reasons:
Like always, the editors voted for their favorite stories. This time all of the nominations were so good that it was a very close call. Let's see who won:
The metaverse as I know it, and as many of you may know it, is not, and will not be the property of one corporation. The moment blockchain technology was unleashed upon the world, our ideas of what technology could become radically changed. New narratives began to be built. Decentralization of power, ownership of digital property, no gatekeepers, no overlords. Sorry, Mark.
Wow, @thumbsup! We loved your story. Congratulations on winning $2000 in SAND.
Yay @mickey-maler, your interview was a huge success! Almost 6k views in just a few days! You have won $1500 in SAND.
I think that the current situation we are in 2021 gives us a taste of what it could look like. The metaverse games we have right now can be something like a demo to what is inevitable. People are spending more and more time interacting with digitized content. Newsfeeds, social media, shopping, banking, interviews… they are all digital. The use of metaverses and virtual reality allows people, even though it is not really "real," to do things they can't even imagine or participate in events they cannot afford in the real world.
As an entrepreneurial creator, the essential Metaverse requirements for your needs are virtual worlds with economies bridged to the real world and the ability to establish ownership and exchange of content within those worlds. One can even stretch even further and consider online avatars and handles in social media or messaging channels a loose form. That is indisputably here already, and enough of a Metaverse is there to be a successful creator.
Congratulations @versetech! You have won $1000 in SAND.
What I find to be the most shocking is who the people making these posts are. It shouldn't come as a surprise when someone who is anti-crypto is also anti-NFT, but it's a significant majority of crypto investors who seem to be the most outspoken about NFTs. For people who otherwise seem to live in the future of finance, they seem to dwell in the past when it comes to the topic of non-fungible tokens.
The world’s most polarizing company just put the metaverse on the map. I’m not referring to Facebook creating an uber brand called Meta. Yes, the new name is important because it puts a stake in the ground. But even more significantly, the newly minted Meta is making investments to match its vision for the metaverse. One of those investments focuses on improving how we work -- which companies such as Microsoft are already doing with digital twins in workspaces such as factory floors and supply chains.
Congratulations to all the winners! See yáll again, SOON!
