The whole program is like a function that further has sub-functions, each performing a certain task. Declarative / Functional programming As a junior developer, I am realizing it the hard way ( read : I was nervously staring at 1000s of lines of code ) that it’s not just about writing functional code, but semantically easy and flexible code as well. While there are multiple best practices to write clean code in both paradigms, I am gonna talk about SOLID design principles concerning the object-oriented paradigm of programming. What is S.O.L.I.D? S — Single Responsibility O—Open-Closed Principle L — Liskov Substitution Principle I — Interface Segregation D — Dependency Inversion The main reason for any difficulty in grasping these concepts is not because their technical depths are unfathomable, but because they are abstract guidelines that are generalized for writing clean code in object-oriented programming. Let us look at some high-level class diagrams to drive these concepts home. These are not accurate class diagrams but are basic blueprints to help understand what methods are present in a class. Let us consider an example of a cafe throughout the article. ingle Responsibility Principle S A class should have only one reason to change Consider this class which handles online orders received by the cafe. This single class is responsible for multiple functions. What if you have to add other payment methods? What if you have multiple ways of sending confirmation? So your Coffee can have-a mocha/butter/milk rather than your Coffee is-a mocha/butter/milk kind of coffee. Liskov Substitution Principle Every subclass or derived class should be substitutable for its base or parent class. This means that the sub-class should be directly able to replace the parent class; it must have the same functionality. I found it hard to understand this one because it sounds like some complex math formula. But I will try to make it clear in this article. Consider the staff in the cafe. There are baristas, managers, and servers. They all have similar functionality. Hence we can create a base Staff class with name, position, getName, getPostion, takeOrder(), serve(). And in the case of the vending machine, the methods are hardly interdependent. We can segregate the methods since they have very low cohesion. Now, any interface which is meant to implement one thing ,must only implement takeMoney() which is common for all the functions. This separates the unrelated functions in an interface hence avoiding forcefully implementing unrelated functions in an interface. Dependency Inversion High level modules should not depend on low level modules. Details must depend on abstractions. Consider the air conditioner(cooler) at the cafe. And if you are like me, it is always freezing in there. Let's look at the remote control and the AC classes. Here, remoteControl is the high level module which depends on AC, the low level component. If I get a vote, I would want a heater too :P So in order to have a generic temperature regulation, rather than cooler, let us decouple remote and temperature control. But the remoteControl class is tightly coupled with AC, which is a concrete implementation. To decouple the dependency, we can make an interface which has functions of just increaseTemp() and decreaseTemp() within a range of ,say , 45-65 F. Final Thoughts As you can see, both the high-level and low-level modules depend on an interface that abstracts the functionality of increasing or decreasing temperature. I was set to make some real money, but then something crazy happened, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates in the midst of an economic expansion. It really juiced the stock market especially following on the huge corporate tax cuts. However, that meant all my short bets were costing me lots and lots of money. It was terrible. I had made the right decision, but then the central bank acted irresponsibly. It served the interests of Wall Street instead of Main Street. I wrote in the Fall of 2019. It was a weird feeling because though I had put a lot of money on the market going down. I knew disorderly markets could be painful for EVERYONE. I did not feel a lot of joy writing about the Federal Reserve having to intervene in the Treasury markets. I knew it meant things were going to get crazy. Did America Just Get Told No? The ZeroDogs of Cupertino were wildcards. It would be an extraordinary upset over perpetual frontrunners, the Musk Oxen of the SAZ, to bring the ZeroDogs to the Championship. Jackson's father taught him to be practical. The ZeroDogs were not going to win no matter how much their fans wanted it. The Musk Oxen would win and they would do so decisively AND IMMEDIATELY was Jackson's bet. Jackson looked out of the observation dome. The space station was already teeming with smaller shuttles and viewing platforms. The Rollerball Championships were a big deal. A good game was inevitable! Jackson had done something. Now he would find out if it was the wrong or right thing, but it was nothing. He was trying to get to the Starbase Autonomous Zone ASAP. This was the only way. It would not take long to find out. Either the Musk Oxen scored first and did so in the first period or Jackson would be working in the lunar gold mines. The whistle blew and the Rollerball was in play. Always Bet Musk's Oxen!

I am old. I am probably too old to be playing around with Dogecoin, but here I am. I am so old JFK was president when I was born and I have seen Elvis Presley in concert. That is still TOO YOUNG however to have really been a hippie. I did not participate in the 1967 grassroots revolution known as the Summer of Love, but I witnessed it up close in Sixties California. It was  a dynamic age. A time of huge change and social upheaval. This change was driven to revolution by the fact it was adopted by a whole generation. A generation which was so physically large it swamped the zeitgeist. I feel a similar dynamic in society today. The Millennials are weary of the global conflicts the nation has engaged in most of their lives. They are young and idealistic. Just as the hippies tried to bring peace and love to the world, the Millennial generation feels similarly as they embrace Dogecoin. It is not just the motto of this crypto currency which makes me feel this. However, the motto Do Only Good Everyday certainly puts those ideas square at the center of this Dogecoin community. The Millennials embrace of a cryptocurrency with this motto is a real hint to their idealism. My birthday means I remember the Summer of Love and the Culture War it birthed. The Summer of Love was followed by so much upheaval and strife in America. The Baby Boomers tried to end the Vietnam War and bring about a more compassionate society. Robert Kennedy rode this generational wave to within a bullet of the Democratic nomination for president in 1968. He was embraced by a generation as a leader for change. Martin Luther King, Jr similarly was a leader the Baby Boomers followed. However, when both RFK and MLK went the way of JFK, there was a change in the Baby Boomers. There is no denying these events destroyed the idealism of the Baby Boomers. The movement as a truly complete societal transformation fell short. The seventies brought sex, drugs and rock and roll instead of peace and love. Hedonism led the Baby Boomers into the eighties. The rest is history. We are here now. Millennials are wiser than they are given credit for. They understand the "Establishment" systems are rigged against them. They understand the mountains of student loan debt they drag around are unfair, especially when Lori Loughlin's daughters are bribing their way into the same system. They understand America's meritocracy is broken. They understand the SEC is part of the problem when they pursue Martha Stewart while allowing Bernie Madoff to make off with billions. The GameStop revolt showed they also understand how Big Money has aligned against retail investors. Dogecoin represents a way to use money against money. If enough people obtain it and use it, then it organically wins. This is the power of the largest generation. Millennials are not looking for politicians like RFK or JFK or MLK this time around. Now it is billionaires like Elon Musk and Mark Cuban who have the attention of the largest generation. Millennials have watched the politicians dancing for Big Money this entire century. They have no faith in politics and the old ways of doing things. These ways are clearly dead-ends in the 21st century. Elon Musk is clearly winning in this new system. He is offering to mint new millionaires with his tweets. Who do millennials believe in, Joe Biden or Donald Trump? Neither, Elon Musk!  Elon Musk is going to space. Elon Musk is going to the moon. Elon is going to Mars. Dogecoin is going to the moon is just not that great a leap...especially if Elon says Dogecoin would make a great currency for his Mars colony. It is a NEW century. Elon is talking about a new city called Starbase near South Padre Island. This are borders Mexico as well as the United States. If one wanted to create an "autonomous" zone, then being on the edge of the nation on the edge of one of the most libertarian states would make a good choice...oh yeah and throw in that it is an island. If Elon succeeds in pulling off his Starbase Autonomous Zone on South Padre Island, what is next? Is it much more of a stretch for Elon to then announce the SAZ will be using Dogecoin as its official currency? Elon Musk will need citizens for his new autonomous state. If he can provide a stable economy, jobs and an exciting future for his citizens they will follow. An entire generation is disillusioned with the status quo. They do not want more of the same. Money is so powerful, everyone knows this. If Dogecoin becomes the currency of choice for the largest generation in this country, then things are going to change. This will be the first time the Baby Boomers will have to take a back seat to another generation. There is a lot of buzz around the Saturday Night Live spot where Elon is appearing along with Miley Cyrus. Both of them are popular with millennials. They are revolutionary people without appearing to be complete radicals. Nonetheless, if there is a concerted move among millennials and their icons to jump on the Dogecoin train, the Shiba seems completely unstoppable. Just like in 1967 and the Summer of Love, a Summer of Doge could be a HUGE threat to the Establishment. This time around though the players are well-financed. Millennials are not naive hippies, but hard-working people who know how to put their money where their mouth is. There is a younger generation gaining control. They like Dogecoin. They think Shiba is cute. They want to use it. Millennials are idealistic and hopeful. Dogecoin is idealistic too: o nly ood veryday! D O G E Cryptocurrency is going to get used. The more it gets used, the more difficult it is to purge it from the system. If Millennials start using Dogecoin, then Dogecoin wins. They would not even need Elon Musk to jump in, but we know he would...presuming he is not already on this train. Wink. I am waiting and watching for a .
