It’s 2019 and, still, around 25% of websites on the Internet are visited without encryption. Let’s look at why.

Thinking functionally has opened my mind about programming. It has given me a greater depth of understanding of code. It has also led me on a quest in which I found myself questioning many of the core features of the language.

We’re dabbling in reverse engineering, and visual novels are our target. In the first part of this article, we’ve learned to analyze container formats using marvelous <a href="http://kaitai.io/" target="_blank">Kaitai Struct tool</a>, which makes it pretty easy for just about everyone who knows a little about computers to try their hand in proper “clean room” reverse engineering, without deep knowledge of CPUs, registers, disassembly, etc.

I’d like to make a confession: I love visual novels. For those of you who aren’t in the trend, visual novels are something inbetween of interactive books, games-that-mostly-consist-of-reading-lotsa-text, and radio plays with images. Needless to say that the vast majority of them comes from Japan. I could say that for the last 5 years I’m totally into it, ignoring most other forms of entertainment media, like paper books, audio books or TV.
