Credit card skimming is the theft of personal information which has been used in an otherwise normal transaction. The thief can procure a victim's card number using basic methods such as photocopying receipts or using a small electronic device (skimmer) to swipe and store hundreds of victims' card numbers. 15% of Americans said they’ve been a victim of skimming at the pump. 43% of people have changed their way they pay for gas because of concerns about skimming. Women are slightly more likely to have changed than men.
