Capcom confirmed during its Resident Evil Showcase digital program that Resident Evil Village, the eighth main installment in the Resident Evil series, will have its multi-platform release on May 7. The game is due out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via steam.
In addition to the new-gen consoles, the game will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will be eligible for an upgrade from PS4 to PS5 and will support Smart Delivery for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.
Additionally, Capcom confirmed the announcement of Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer game experience, which will celebrate Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary. Also, players who pre-order the game for PS5 will get an exclusive early preview with the stand-alone Maiden Demo and get an early look at Castle Dimitrescu.
In case you aren’t pre-ordering the game on PS5, Capcom is planning the release of a separate demo for all platforms that will be released in Spring.
Resident Evil Re:Verse will be a free multiplayer experience. Players will get access to the multiplayer experience with Resident Evil Village. Re:Verse will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. The multiplayer game will feature four-to-six-player deathmatch battles in famous locations from the Resident Evil franchise, alongside with popular characters.
Each character in Re:Verse will have unique skills players will be able to master. Whenever a player is defeated during combat, their character will respawn by mutating into a bioweapon with a chance to get revenge on their enemies.
Capcom stated that more details will be revealed for Re:Verse at a later time. Resident Evil Village will be available in Standard and Deluxe Edition, along with a physical Collector’s Edition release.
The Deluxe Edition features the base game and a digital “Trauma Pack,” which consists of a Samurai Edge weapon, a Resident Evil 7 Biohazard inspired found footage screen filter, tape recorder save point options, and immediate access to a new difficulty setting.
