What is your current position?

Hi, My name is Mirza Arique Alam, fondly known as Maddy. I am currently engaged with Cogito Tech (https://www.cogitotech.com/) leading a fantastic team of tech writers, designers, and developers in the capacity of Communications Lead.

How long have you been working in tech?

That’s like taking a walk down the memory lane. It has been almost a decade.

What is your educational background? (It’s perfectly okay if you don’t have a formal one)

This might sound interesting - I have a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from Aliah University.

Have you ever had a mentor? If yes, we’d like to know more about it.

Well, I have had 2 great mentors in my professional life. 1) Mr. Madhur Bhayana 2) Mr. Abhijai Shrivastava

What was the best piece of advice you got over the course of your career?

There is no alternative to hard work. You have to get your hands dirty to hone your craft and create a meaningful output/result.

How relevant was self-learning to where you are today?

Self-learning is the key to success. What you learn by observing, trying, and practicing is unmatched.

Knowing what you do now, where do you think one should start learning if one wants to work in your position one day?

Start writing and reading about technology. One thing young professionals fail to do is read about history. What has already happened can teach a lot about what’s going to happen.

What is the work-related achievement you’re the most proud of?

Getting articles published on top-notch web portals (like HackerNoon) cannot be left unmentioned. I have more than 1000+ articles published on web portals that have a DA of 90+

What do you think is the biggest myth about starting a career in tech?

“If you don’t have a pertaining degree like Bachelor of technology or MCA, you cannot be a part of the technology sector” - This is a myth and should be busted!

On a less serious note: What do you listen to while working?

I listen to podcasts like The Vergecast and The Accidental Tech Podcast.

Thanks so much for taking the time to tell us more about your career path. Any words of wisdom for aspiring techies?

Just enjoy your projects. Celebrate your achievements and learn from failure. If you enjoy what you do, you will not encounter fatigue.
