Hey Hackers! On April 13th, Canon, the camera and photography giant, announced that they will be launching an NFT Marketplace, called , offering tokenized photographs. Cadabra Cadabra is described as a curated photography marketplace that offers NFTs from a variety of innovative creators. Canon states that the goal of the Cadabra marketplace is “to empower creators by connecting them to enthusiastic collectors who celebrate the art of photography through a shared appreciation for these digital artworks”. Decrypt has that the NFT marketplace will be launched on the Ethereum network. reported “The digital art will range from landscape, wildlife, lifestyle, sports, abstract, and other categories to spotlight the stunning work of the invited creators.” - Canon USA Canon also took to to announce the exciting news to it’s customers and followers. Twitter On Cadabra, the NFT photos will be minted by Creator drops, and there will reportedly be a secondary marketplace for NFT collectors to trade their minted NFTs. Canon has stated that Cadabra creators will have the choice of offering “purchasers prints” with their initial drops, which entitles NFT purchasers to also receive a physical print of the NFT image. Based off the small amount of information we have about Cadabra, it does sound like there will be intuitive options for creators to present their work and possibly even earn a good amount. There is no official word on when Cadbara will be launched, but Canon did allude that it will be later this year. Canon has also stated that the Cadbara marketplace will only be available in the United States at launch, but they will be expanding the project internationally in the future. The subject of canonical reference has been touched thousand times. But since some content writers are still making the same mistake over and over, I think it's beneficial to add one more. I hope to reach some who aren't aware of it. Content writing is not enough Writing content is not enough: you can have written the best blog post of the century; it's no good if nobody sees it. One has two ways to spread the word: Link to the post on social media Copy the post to another site The problem happens when copying the content. The problem of content duplication Search engines want to provide users with the most relevant content for their search. They need to order search results to provide more relevant results first. Duplicate content poses the problem of which content to display first. It's a minor issue when it's on the same domain: the search engine will decide, and that's all. The same happens across domains, but the consequences are worse. If another site decides to copy your content, how will the search engine decide which one to list first? My experience has shown me that the most domain wins. I was curious how the Corona Virus had effected traffic for some of the large media publications in the UK and whilst taking a look at the top 10 news sites, I came across something interesting. Is the BBC using to grab more organic traffic or is it an SEO quick fix for something that has gone unaddressed for years? shady tactics Anyone who juggles clients or who works for a large company knows that there is always work to do. Much of a task schedule is a matter of prioritisation and triage. What's the most important thing, that needs to be done yesterday? Are the BBC using a trick to generate more organic visitors and if so, should the UK national broadcaster be operating in such a manner? So what are BBC News doing to grab hundreds of thousands of extra visitors per month? This post is for you if you think or know that your job at Canonical is at risk. Everything Will Be OK It’s probably not surprising that people from Canonical have been in touch with me, and that the level of stress that people are experiencing is very high. I want to assure everyone there, . In fact, better than ok. everything will be ok If you don’t know me, I won’t bore you with my life story, but, I know what I am talking about. I left Canonical 1 year ago, after spending 8 years in Canonical putting everything I had into making Ubuntu succeed. It’s Not Personal If you are feeling bitter now because Canonical, or specifically Mark, seems to be cavalier or cold about the financial impact these decisions will have on you or family, let go of that bitterness. It’s a waste of energy, and also misplaced. I knew Mark as well as any person like me could know a person like him. I know first hand that he took his responsibilities to the financial well-being of others extremely seriously. This was true for every conversation that we had about people both inside and outside of Canonical. To my friends who are complaining that Canonical as a company is handling the situation badly, don’t take this personally. Of course they are handling it badly, it’s the first time they have ever had to do this! I hope that they don’t get better with practice. Also, remember Kiko’s Law: “nothing works the first time.” It might be hard to do, but you will sleep better if you cut them some slack. What I am trying to say about this is, don’t make your situation worse by ascribing thoughts and motivations to people who are just trying to do their best in a tough situation. That is just a mental tax that you are giving yourself. In fairness, we all knew that we were making big bets; some might even say, gambles. It had to end either with a big win, or a big loss. At least we had a lot of fun and the chance to write some great code along the way. It’s Fun Out Here!
