The first open source security key supporting FIDO2
Solo Kickstarter will launch on Weds October 3rd, around 9am PT / 18 CET, and if you want to be among the first to get notified, you can join our waitlist.
As you can see, Solo will come in multiple colors (what’s your favorite one? tweet it to us!), and with both USB and USB-C plugs. And even though you can’t tell from the photo below, we’ll have the regular Solo and Solo Tap, the NFC version optimized for mobile.
Solo is the first open source security key that supports the newest FIDO2 standard for secure login.
In simpler terms, Solo works seamlessly on many services, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Github, and many more. Because it supports the new FIDO2 standard, you get the strongest secure login, with protection against phishing, account takeover, and other online attacks. And it’s incredibly easy to use and consistent across all sites: when you log in, after username and password, you plug Solo in your computer and just press its button to get access.
We also wrote about why we decided to do a Kickstarter, to avoid product shortages, aim for FIDO2 certification, and most importantly to our hearts bring Solo to broader group of people.
And when we say broader, we mean international! Solo Kickstarter will be translated auf Deutsch, Español, 中文, Français, e Italiano — both campaign and video captions. And this is just the beginning… we’re also going to open source and translate our Getting Started guides, so even our friends and family who don’t speak English can start using Solo and stay safe on the Internet.
Back to the main news, Solo Kickstarter is coming on Weds October 3rd, join our waitlist, and help us spread the word — tell your friends, erzähl mal deinen Freunden, dile a tus amigos, 分享给你的朋友, dis-le à tes amis, dillo ai tuoi amici!
As always, if you have any feedback or suggestion, please use the comments below, or find us on Twitter @SoloKeysSec.
P.S. Yes, we’ll support SSH/GPG — our focus for Kickstarter is FIDO2, but we support firmware upgrades and will work on SSH/GPG asap.
