Too Long; Didn't Read

I’ve been working hard on the <a href="https://medium.com/@Codename_One/launched-the-java-full-stack-bootcamp-79a6410204f8#.gl38wk722" target="_blank">full stack Java bootcamp</a> and just making materials left and right. One of the features of the bootcamp is a pre-course which is simple course materials designed to bring the participants to a common baseline from which we can start the bootcamp together on a more equal footing.

One of the most common questions we get for the Codename One support in the chat window in the web site is: “What is Codename One?”.

It’s probably because our copy is so bad that it’s still unclear after looking at the website… There is the quick answer of “Java support for all mobile devices” but that’s rarely what is asked…

That question hides a lot of nuance including:

  • Where did it come from?
  • How does it work?
  • Why is it built in this way?

So I created a “long form” answer in the form of a video and slide presentation which goes deep into the answer. It’s 40 minutes (sorry it’s not a simple subject but I also blab a bit):

If you want to check out the slides of this presentation which don’t tell the full story but cover a lot check them out here:

I’m excited about the progress we are making with the bootcamp and can’t wait for it to start. Registration will finally be over soon and I can focus on building more stuff like this.
