How to Create Brand Names That Sell With ChatGPT

Can AI help us with creative tasks as well?

Sure it can; if we know how to use it properly.

AI tools are famous for automating repeatable, uncreative tasks, but their possibilities go way beyond.

We already see AI writing essays, generating images, or even as of recently, videos.

When, at work, we were brainstorming brand names for the new product I thought it wouldn’t hurt to invite ChatGPT to the table.

How Can I Prepare to Make the Process Smoother?

When creating a brand name, it is useful to come up with some keywords that best describe the features and usage of the product or the main ideas behind the initiative.

Again, you can first do it on your own, it is fun, and helps you get a rounder image of your brand.

Then, however, I use ChatGPT to see if I omitted or didn’t think of some necessary terms.

ChatGPT input:

Brand description: “here describe your brand/product in a sentence or two in an informative, concise way”
Take this brand description and extract 15 key word terms out of it, focus on the main features of the product and message behind the initiative.

Let’s take this newsletter as an example:

Brand description: Newsletter about being more productive using AI tools and improving your professional life and career prospects by completing tasks faster and more efficient .
Take this brand description and extract 15 key word terms out of it, focus on the main features of the product and message behind the initiative.

This is the output I got:

1. Newsletter
2. Productivity

7. Strategic Improvement

Now that I have the keywords, I can move on to my main goal - coming up with a catchy brand name.

How to Generate Brand Name Ideas Using ChatGPT - Practical Inputs

First, I go for quantity over quality. Then I’ll be narrowing it down till I’m happy with my results. Besides the given keywords, I also include what I personally would like to focus on and see in the name.

ChatGPT command:

Give 100 ideas for the brand name described with the following key words:

”here paste generated key words”

Keep the brand name short, maximum 1 or 2 word names.
Give brand name ideas being both compound word and base words.
Focus on the aspect of “here put what you want to emphasise in the name”

I chose to focus on AI and productivity.

Give 100 ideas for the brand name described with the following key words: Newsletter Productivity AI Tools Professional Development Career Enhancement Task Efficiency Strategic Improvement Skill Advancement Innovation Optimization Futuristic Acceleration Success Task Mastery Career Prospects

Next, I pick 5-10 options I like the best and narrow down my group.

Now based on my preferences narrow down the group to 50 brand name ideas. Keep them short, maximum 1 or 2 word names.
Give brand name ideas being both compound word and base words.
Focus on the aspect of “here put what you want to emphasise in the name, doesn’t have to be the same as the first time”.

I like following brand names best: Prodigify Innovize TaskifyAI CareerFlow Productify AIPulse AIProspect CareerWise SkillWise AIFlow

Now based on my preferences narrow down the group to 50 brand name ideas. Keep them short, maximum 1 or 2 word names.
Give brand name ideas being both compound word and base words.
Focus on the aspect of productivity and AI.

I repeat the process a few times, going down to the 5 best brand names and getting my final list.

Final Decision

And now, it is the moment for the human touch.

I ask my friends and family to share their opinions.

I put on a survey on LinkedIn, Twitter, or Reddit.

Having all opinions gathered, I simply follow my own intuition and pick a name.

Done! The longest part is the last one - getting human feedback. If you feel like you don’t need it, just skip it.

Then the whole process of coming up with a brand name can take under 10 minutes.
