It feels as if AI has mainstreamed faster than any prior innovation, including the Internet. We expect it will impact our lives in profound, if uncertain ways. It's disruption we accept as a given. Why? Because, the author posits, we have normalized disruption. Years of technology advances and their impact, coupled with profound changes in our lives due to politics and the pandemic have made us expect that new developments will have large impacts as a default.
