As part of QUDO’s interoperable NFTs development, we decided to create our own game as a case study and to encourage other developers to create their own as well, in order to showcase our first category of interoperable gaming NFTs — Guns.
We are now starting the development phase of this interoperable gaming NFTs for the QUDO platform. It will not interfere with the development of each game and developers won’t need to collaborate with each other to implement it, because the NFT compatibility between the different adhering games is solely ensured by the QUDO SDK.
Therefore, game developers that wish to join us in the future will have access to these same functionalities just by integrating our SDK. When in place, this will allow games with the same category of gaming assets to share their equivalent NFTs (e.g. a gamer can use a specific gun NFT in several games that support guns, bearing in mind that the NFT’s weight may vary from one game to another not to ruin the game balance). Once again, we want to take the first step to prove the success of QUDO features, so we are creating a new game!
To start developing our own game, we first had to choose its genre, based on the first category of QUDO NFTs (guns). From the many types available — Tower Defense, Hero Shooter, Third-Person Shooters, Shoot ’em Ups, etc -, we decided to start with an FPS (First-Person Shooter) game.
Following that decision, we began envisioning the atmosphere and style of the game and, after some discussion, we decided to create a low-poly FPS game.
As we were conceptualizing the game, ideas for game maps began to fly. Many concepts were inspired by well-known titles like DOOM, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty and many others.
After brainstorming about the game map design, we decided that combining urban style (Punk, Metal, EDM, Jazz, Hip-hop, etc) with an FPS game would be a great concept. This, in turn, led us to conceive a map which includes many components that represent the urban style, such as band posters, guitars, graffities, worn buildings, and much more.
We firmly think that NFTs and gaming are a natural fit and, as such, we want to take you on a journey through the development of QUDO NFTs, beginning with the development of our own game to showcase them.
Over the next weeks, we will share weekly updates, commonly referred to as DevBlogs, so that you can follow this progress as well.
In these DevBlogs, you will be able to see the characters that we are creating for the game, the many guns that are being designed to be the first minted QUDO NFTs, game mechanics, gameplay sneakpeeks, and much more.
