As regular readers of this blog know, I love talking about the future of Haskell as a language. I’m interested in ways we can shape the future of programming in a way that will help Haskell grow. I’ve mentioned network effects as a major hindrance a couple different times. Companies are reluctant to try Haskell since there aren’t that many Haskell developers. As a result, fewer other developers will have the opportunity to get paid to learn Haskell. And the cycle continues.

The Future is Functional: Haskell and the AI Native World

As a tech enthusiast and programmer, I love trying new platforms that attempt to reinvent the way we interact with computers, the internet, and each other. One of the most outdated yet crucial tools we interact with every day — the search engine — is due for disruption. Many companies recognize this and have tried to redesign and reinvent the search process. To stay at the forefront of this search engine revolution and take control over my search results, I experimented with several smaller search engines (most still in beta). One of the most innovative and curated alternative search engines is You.com. In my opinion, their recent release of YouCode has the potential to reshape how programmers interact with the internet, expedite problem solving, and enhance software design. Today I will be reviewing this novel search engine and discussing how I use it to improve my coding. 

First Impressions of YouCode: The Search Engine for Programmers

It was the middle of the second world war, Europe was under siege and while the allied forces were able to intercept radio traffic communication, they could not make any sense of the information, since it was encrypted. Germany had developed an ingenious device, called the Enigma, which allowed for millions of possible encryption combinations. Being able to decrypt that communication would no doubt be of tremendous value to the allied forces. One day, a man stepped into the offices of Britain’s code breaking centre at Bletchley park. He claimed he would be able to build a machine that could decrypt the enemy’s communication. It was <strong>Alan Turing</strong>, a mathematician, cryptanalyst and theoretical biologist.

It was certainly no accidental freak of the brain-cells that created the dramatic contrasts shown in the second illness.
