Workplaces are filled with moments when it’s easy to lose your calm. Uncontrollable, sudden, and intense emotions that overwhelm you, can dramatically and unexpectedly lead to an emotional outburst. Negative emotions like anger, fear, or frustration show up when your expectations aren’t met or people say or do things that conflict with your personal values and aspirations. Ignoring the conflict or whatever’s bothering you for too long creates inner turmoil—it makes you react to other people or the things in your environment. You act without thinking. You become a of your thoughts and circumstances. victim Not being in control of your emotions can make you say or do things that you regret later. You may shout at a coworker. Say impolite things to a junior member of your team. Burst into tears when others disagree with you. These emotional outbursts may not only lead to extreme distress; they’re also damaging to your relationships at work. Others can’t see the inner conflict bubbling up inside—they can’t make sense of why you are calm one moment and agitated the next. No doubt they’ll find your reaction inappropriate and unnecessary. What’s done is done. You can’t go back in time and fix your overreaction, but you can certainly build emotional agility—move on with curiosity, courage, and compassion. Emotional agility is not only about keeping your emotions in check and not lashing out your frustrations at others, it’s also about what you do once you react in unintended ways. Here are the 5 practices to prevent strong emotions from overwhelming you, take control of the situation, and do damage control if you do end up acting out in an unhealthy way: Instead of Emotional Avoidance, Lean Toward Emotional Acceptance Hundreds of thoughts will run through your mind after acting in undesirable ways: Everyone will think I am crazy. No one will speak to me. I will not get more opportunities. All these thoughts can consume so much of your time and energy that you can fail to connect with your emotions. You may avoid negative emotions with the hope that they will go away. But avoidance is like a prison. It prevents you from experiencing critical life lessons. You fail to build the skills necessary to deal with discomfort. Every repeated cycle of negative emotions leading to avoidance makes it powerful and weakens your ability to deal with difficult situations. Noam Shpancer, professor of psychology at Otterbein University and a clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders says — “Attempts at avoiding negative emotions are usually futile. Telling yourself that a certain emotion is intolerable or dangerous traps you in constant vigilance regarding the very thing you're trying to avoid. You become hyper-vigilant about any possibility of this feeling arising. The fear of the impending negative experience becomes a negative experience in itself.” This also applies to how you deal with your emotions after losing your calm at work. Instead of confronting your feelings, you may believe that the best way to deal with them is to put them out of your mind. But ignoring or avoiding makes these feelings much harder to overcome while acknowledging them can result in real personal growth. Instead of stifling or pushing them away, what if you learn to accept your emotions? Accepting does not make them true. It just allows your emotions to be what they are without judging them or trying to change them. Seeing the emotion for what it is without attempting to get rid of it shifts you from emotional avoidance towards emotional acceptance. Noam Shpancer calls emotional acceptance a far better strategy than avoidance because accepting, acknowledging, and absorbing them makes you spend less energy in pushing the emotion away, and instead, pursue the behaviors that are aligned with your goals and values. He says “Emotions, when viewed as part of a spectrum of available sources of information, are a bit like the weather report. They are important to know, consider, and understand, but they are not necessarily the overriding factor in your life plans. When the weather is bad (not to your liking), it doesn't mean you have to deny it, focus all your attention on it, or cancel your plans because of it. What you need to do is accept the weather and adjust your plans accordingly.” So, the first step to dealing with an emotional outburst at work is to come in touch with your real emotions—become fully aware of them as they show up. Mindfulness guides us to become more emotionally agile by allowing us to observe the thinker having the thoughts. Simply paying attention brings the self out of the shadows. It creates the space between thought and action that we need to ensure we’re acting with volition, rather than simply out of habit. But mindfulness is more than knowing ‘I’m hearing something’, or being aware ‘I’m seeing something’, or even noticing ‘I’m having a feeling’. It’s about doing all this with balance and equanimity, openness and curiosity, and without judgement. It also allows us to create new, fluid categories. As a result, the mental state of mindfulness lets us see the world through multiple perspectives, and go forward with higher levels of self-acceptance, tolerance and self-kindness. — Susan David Mindfulness will not only help you better manage your emotions after losing your calm; it will enable you to avoid such emotional outbursts in the future—learning to be present in the moment without judgment and observing your feelings without being overwhelmed can create space for better understanding and acceptance of your emotions, making it easier to manage them effectively. Name the Emotion to Tame the Emotion After an emotional outburst, you’re bound to feel some very strong emotions. It’s not enough to acknowledge them. You also need to give words to your feelings. In other words, say to yourself, out loud, what negative emotion you’re experiencing, as you’re experiencing it. For example: I am feeling embarrassed. I am feeling ashamed. I am feeling angry at myself. Simply naming it is going to calm you down. This technique introduced by psychologist Dan Siegel creates a bit of space between you and that emotion. Naming your emotions tends to diffuse their charge and lessen the burden they create. There’s another advantage of naming emotions this way. Matthew Lieberman is a Professor of Psychology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). His research has shown that labeling of negative emotions, also called can help people recover control. His fMRI brain scan research shows that labeling of emotions decreases activity in the brain’s emotional centers, including the amygdala. “affect labeling” And once your amygdala is calm—that part of your brain involved in mode—it gives you the chance to take a step back and come up with a more thoughtful response. “fight-flight-freeze” In the brain, naming an emotion can help calm it. Here is where finding words to label an internal experience becomes really helpful. We can call this “Name it to tame it.” And sometimes these low-road states can go beyond being unpleasant and confusing—they can even make life feel terrifying. If that is going on, talk about it. Your inner sea and your interpersonal relationships will all benefit from naming what is going on and bringing more integration into your life. — Daniel J. Siegel Instead of letting your unconscious brain exaggerate the negative effects of a temporary emotional setback making you feel powerless and helpless, recognizing and naming the emotion can give you a sense of control enabling you to choose a more appropriate response. Don’t Settle for Superficial Reasoning, Dig Deeper Connecting with the emotions and naming them gives you the mental clarity needed to think clearly. When your thinking is not clouded by emotions, you can face the facts of what really happened—what caused you to behave this way. By understanding what caused you to lose your calm, you can do better damage control and can also prevent it from happening again. Engaging in deep self-reflection can help you uncover the real reason behind your outburst as opposed to what initially appeared to have triggered it: What situation were you in when you had an emotional outburst? What about the situation you did not like—was it something someone said or did, was it the way you were treated, were you denied something that was important to you, were your beliefs and values challenged in some way? Was it the first time you felt this way or has it happened before? What did you say to yourself at that moment? What caused you to finally lose your calm—dig deeper into the real reason and not what appears to be the issue at first. For example: You may snap at a coworker after your manager tells you that you have been passed up for a promotion. You may yell at an intern after a recent conflict with a coworker who blamed you for delaying the project. In these situations, what you’re experiencing is unhandled frustration which leads to psychological displacement, a term coined by Sigmund Freud which is an unconscious defense mechanism in which your mind substitutes a new aim or a new object for goals felt in their original form to be dangerous or unacceptable. It operates in the mind unconsciously with transference of emotions, ideas, and wishes in the face of aggressive impulses. By ignoring whatever annoys you about work, you let the inner conflict bubble up inside. The stress and anxiety that comes from unhandled frustrations can cause you to overreact. Amy Arnsten, an American neuroscientist explains how stress can impair judgment “The release of high levels of catecholamines during uncontrollable stress rapidly switches the brain from a thoughtful, reflective state to a more unconscious, reflexive state. This may save our lives when we are in danger, but it is often unhelpful when we need top-down control to properly guide our actions and decisions.” Knowing how the environment is pulling your strings and playing you is critical to making responsive rather than reactive moves. — Ronald Heifetz By understanding your triggers, you can prevent your autopilot mode from kicking off destructive behaviors and instead deliberately engage in constructive actions. Instead of Berating Yourself, Engage in Self-Kindness An emotional reaction that you’re not proud of can turn you into a self-critic. You may think that being harsh and mean to yourself will set you right, but engaging in self-criticism at such moments is the worst thing you can do to yourself. Self-criticism involves a harsh and judgmental internal dialogue in response to perceived failures, mistakes, or shortcomings. It often includes negative self-talk, self-blame, and self-condemnation. Having a rigid and unforgiving attitude towards yourself can make you feel shameful, guilty, and inadequate. It can lead to increased stress, anxiety, diminished sense of self-worth, and a cycle of negativity that undermines self-confidence and well-being. Instead of engaging in self-criticism after an emotional outburst, try being self-compassionate. Self-compassion involves responding to yourself with kindness, understanding, and acceptance when faced with difficulties or when you fall short of your own expectations. Self-compassionate people take a more balanced and realistic view of their imperfections which fosters a sense of worthiness and self-acceptance. They understand that everyone makes mistakes; it is a natural part of being human. The biggest misconception about self-compassion is that it can undermine your motivation to push yourself to do better; being warm and kinder to yourself will make you lazy. Quite the opposite. Self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional resilience. Self-compassion does not mean avoiding responsibility for your actions or ignoring areas in which you need to improve. Instead, self-compassion involves approaching yourself with kindness and understanding, even when you make mistakes or face difficulties thereby fostering a healthier and more positive relationship with yourself. shows that being compassionate to oneself builds emotional resilience and psychological well-being. People who are self-compassionate: Research Have lower levels of depression and anxiety. Less likely to ruminate on negative thoughts and emotions or suppress them. Show increased optimism. Are able to take personal initiative. Involved with more positive emotions like kindness, happiness, and connectedness. For example, after an emotional outburst: Instead of: I can't believe I messed up. I'm so stupid. Say: It's okay to make mistakes; everyone does. I can be kind to myself and learn from this experience. The truth is this: sometimes we display good qualities and sometimes bad. Sometimes we act in helpful, productive ways and sometimes in harmful, maladaptive ways. But we are not defined by these qualities or behaviors. We are a verb not a noun, a process rather than a fixed “thing.” Our actions change—mercurial beings that we are—according to time, circumstance, mood, setting. — Kristin Neff Don’t Just Apologize; Own Your Reaction Finally, you have to face the people who experienced your emotional outburst. You can’t ignore them or pretend as if nothing happened. You may try to put the reaction behind you and just go on with your day with the assumption that everyone will forget about it, and things will get better on their own. But, not owning how you behaved makes things awkward for others. They may feel uncomfortable around you and hesitate to approach you or avoid communicating with you altogether. Not communicating what led to an emotional outburst has another problem—when others don’t know what made you lose your calm, they’re free to create their own version and treat it as a source of truth. She’s moody. She’s completely unpredictable. She is rude and mean. To avoid being labeled after an emotional outburst, own your reaction. To do this: Don’t just apologize, talk about what led to overreaction. When it’s something that you can’t talk about openly, share a general description e.g., personal issue, conflict at work, lack of understanding, etc. Doing this will help others see that you’re just another human with flaws and imperfections. Reassure them that you’ll do your best to avoid emotional drama and have productive conversations. Reassurance goes a long way in rebuilding broken trust. If it happened due to a problem that can be discussed with them, seek out their advice on what must change to prevent it from happening to you or others again. Bringing others into the equation shows them that no one is immune to such outbursts. For example: Instead of: I am sorry that I lost my temper yesterday and yelled in front of the team. Say: I am sorry for how I reacted yesterday. I reflected on my behavior later during the day and realized that even though I was angry due to a recent conflict at work, I shouldn’t have lashed out my frustration at you. My behavior was completely unjustified and I promise not to engage in such unproductive expressions. I hope we can move on and can continue collaborating together. Strength is about how you show up. It requires you to choose what energy and action you want to bring to a given situation. At its heart, Strength is about self-management. It’s not about controlling your emotions—it’s about honoring them and choosing what you do next. — Darcy Luoma Summary Negative emotions at work can sometimes be so intense that they take away your ability to think clearly. Emotional fog can make you lose your calm and respond to others in unproductive ways. Hiding away or trying to avoid facing the reality of what happened will not fix the problem; it will only make it worse. Instead of avoiding the emotions after an emotional outburst, come in touch with your real feelings. Acknowledge them without judging them or trying to change them. Next, describe exactly how you’re feeling by naming the emotion. This practice will calm you down and give you an opportunity to take a step back and think clearly. With a clear head, you’ll be better positioned to reflect on your behavior and identify the root cause of your emotional outburst and what really triggered it. Criticizing yourself for your overreaction is a bad strategy. Instead of fixing the situation, it will keep you locked in a cycle of negative thinking. Practice self-compassion in such moments by giving yourself warmth, kindness, and empathy. Finally, own your mistake. Showing you aren’t perfect and vulnerable much like other human beings will bring you closer to others and strengthen your relationships at work. Noam calls emotional acceptance a far better strategy than avoidance because accepting, acknowledging, and absorbing them makes you spend less energy in pushing the emotion away and instead pursue the behaviors that are aligned with your goals and values. He says “Emotions, when viewed as part of a spectrum of available sources of information, are a bit like the weather report. They are important to know, consider, and understand, but they are not necessarily the overriding factor in your life plans. When the weather is bad (not to your liking), it doesn't mean you have to deny it, focus all your attention on it, or cancel your plans because of it. What you need to do is accept the weather and adjust your plans accordingly.” Accepting the emotion allows you to turn rumination into productivity, a problem into a solution, and an obstacle into an opportunity. If another person is the source of your misery, don’t take it personally. Someone else’s bad behavior does not reflect who you are as a person. With fewer cognitive resources at hand, your mind can’t focus on all the work ahead of you—you struggle with simple tasks that would have otherwise been easy for you. Try to push on through: When you’re having a bad day at work, berating yourself about your inadequacies will only demotivate you further. People who are self-compassionate have lower levels of depression and anxiety, are less likely to ruminate on negative thoughts and emotions or suppress them, show increased optimism, are able to take personal initiative, and are involved with more positive emotions like kindness, happiness, and connectedness. Instead of pushing through on a bad day, be kind to yourself and delay making important decisions or doing anything that requires a clear headspace. Taking care of yourself when you’re upset is more important than being productive. Step 3: Revive positive connections When you are having a bad day at work, doing anything that energizes you is bound to shift your mood. It puts you in a different frame of mind. Getting laid off and losing your job is hard. It hurts you not only financially but also personally. It feels like someone pushed you off a moving bus telling you there’s no longer any space for you on it or being left stranded in the middle of a wild ocean with no instructions on how to get back to the shore. Irrespective of how many others are on the same journey, the experience is lonely and frustrating. As a strong wave of emotions hit you, hundreds of questions rush through your mind: Why me? Will my friends and family think less of me? How will it reflect on my resume? Will I find another job? Left unhandled or dealt with badly, a layoff can make you adopt harmful behaviors that destroy your self-confidence. Treating yourself as a victim won’t get you the job back. Or if you’re someone who turns to self-criticism, beating yourself up for something that’s not even in your control will only make things worse. Handling a layoff well is not only about finding a new job. More than the job hunt, it requires mental strength to deal with the emotions that are bound to run high. With layoffs being a common phenomenon in today’s job market, it’s not only acceptable to openly talk about it, those who do so end up with better opportunities. You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it — Maya Angelou 7 practices to handle layoffs well 1. Get prepped up If your job is in danger, your manager is not going to say it explicitly till it’s time to make it public. You need to read between the lines. Look for signs of potential layoffs—hiring freeze, cost cutting, slow growth, or your manager suddenly losing interest in you. Don’t assume you can’t be the one getting fired just because you’re a top performer or someone who’s an expert in their field. There are many factors that determine whether you’ll be the one to stay or asked to leave. Remember this, you’re not untouchable. When you’re laid off, depending on the nature of your work, you may be asked to leave immediately or be notified of your expected separation date. You can’t do this if you’re caught off guard, but if there’s even the slightest hint or a possibility, there’s no harm in getting prepped up. 2. Don’t burn bridges Even though you’re being asked to leave, there’s no need to end the relationship on a bad note. Blaming the organization or bad-mouthing others won’t do you any good. However, since your brain can’t differentiate between real and perceived threats, it can set off alarm bells even when it’s just an emotional attack and, in the process, restrict access to the prefrontal cortex, which is the thinking part of your brain inhibiting purposeful action exactly when you need it the most. Ignoring or avoiding makes these feelings much harder to overcome, while acknowledging them can result in real personal growth. Instead of stifling or pushing them away, learn to accept your emotions. Accepting does not make them true. Instead of doubling up your efforts, unresolved emotions can get in the way—you may spend more time ruminating and feeling bad about yourself as opposed to using that time to reach out to your network for introductions or filling out more job applications. Instead of denying your emotions or getting consumed by them, seek a balance. 4. Talk to someone trusted Sharing how you really feel with people close to you, those who support you, and those you trust without hesitation—being able to express your true emotions—can be relieving. It isn’t venting or making others feel sorry for you. But sharing how you really feel about the situation without needing a script. Talking it out and having others hear it without judgment gets you better prepared to come to terms with your real emotions. Talking about your feelings creates a psychological distance between you and the emotion. It tends to diffuse their charge and lessen the burden they create. 5. Reframe it as an opportunity You need to master two stories here—the story you tell yourself and the story you tell your potential future employer. The story you tell yourself comes first. Because if you’re stuck in a negative version of the story yourself, spinning a positive outlook outside won’t work. Others can see the incoherence when your internal world is in conflict with what you display outside. Identify any upsides to this layoff—shift your perspective from what you’re lacking to the opportunities it brings. Have you been stuck in this job for long? It’s a great opportunity to start something new or explore skills you never got a chance to put to use. Was your manager or the culture of your organization toxic? Now you can find a job free from that toxicity? Did your organization lack projects you were interested in doing? Go find work where you’ll get a chance to work on such things. Spend less time on struggles and more time on your strengths. For example, you may say, “My organization recently went through downsizing. It has given me an opportunity to rethink and reevaluate what I want to do next. What I am now looking for in my next job is [ABC]…then talk about your strengths.” When you come across as someone who’s calm and confident despite dealing with a layoff, others admire your resilience. They see you as someone who’ll be able to navigate the challenges and complexities of a work environment, someone who will be adaptable to change. A scarcity mindset leads to decisions that hurt you down the line; they make you settle for mediocrity instead of striving for excellence. Identify: Where do you stand financially? How much time do you have to find a job? Are there expenses you can cut back on? If you’re the one to provide for your family, how much money do you need? Making a good decision requires patiently weighing in on different options and choosing the one that best aligns with your interests and goals. 7. Get to work Once you feel emotionally prepared to share your story with others without the emotional baggage of the layoff, prepare a list of potential employers. Don’t jump to interviews without doing your research—look up the information on the company’s website, job postings, and social media. Connect to people who have worked there in the past or hold a position now to get their perspective on the organization and the role. Keep a list of questions ready based on what matters to you—work culture, projects, learning, growth, compensation? Speak to recruiters only once you’ve done your homework. You’ll come across as someone who clearly knows what they want. Recruiters will admire your confidence and find you worthy of the position you seek. Also, reach out to your network—former colleagues or friends who work for these organizations. Don’t hesitate to ask for introductions if they don’t work in those organizations but know someone who does. LinkedIn is a great place to find this information. We’ve always relied on their apps to use our location — to do helpful things like find us a fast and convenient way to get where we want to go. Uber But this time, they’ve gone too far. They’re now insisting that we provide them our location, when we don’t need them to, or don’t want them to, to use their services. Specifically, (unless they subsequently manually disabled their access to their location). Uber can now track us whenever they like — even if we have no intent to use their service anytime soon, or haven’t used their app in months. anyone who installed or upgraded the Uber app in the past few weeks and enabled them to view their location is now giving their location to Uber all the time And most users don’t even know Uber and others have this ability. It’s creepy and it’s unnecessary, and makes us unsafe. There’s a word for software that insists they know where you are all the time: Stalkerware. How have Uber and others developed such stalkerware? Through one small loophole, and one that can easily be remedied by Apple. As you know, iOS allows users to control how apps can access the user’s location. There are three choices: “Always,” “When using the app,” or “Never.” These are reasonable options. Some users might never want an app to have access to their location. Others might have a strong trust relationship with the app and its authors and allow the app always to track them. Most of us, though, fall into the middle camp: We want to allow apps to use our location for the purpose of providing a service, but want to control our privacy when the app or its authors cease doing business with us. So what we’re asking is simple: Don’t allow app developers to disable the “when using the app” Location privacy option. It’s simply unnecessary for Uber or others to track us when the app isn’t in use. How do we know this? We were able to meet our drivers by opening the app, finding our location, and hailing a driver. We gave them enough information to get the job done, and we were satisfied with the results. Because these apps worked adequately before they disabled this option. Uber argues that they want to use more location data to improve the user experience — for example, to track a rider’s location between the time the driver was summoned and the time the rider was picked up, even if the rider closed the app. That may be so. Dear Apple: Give Us Control Over Stalkerware

OFX, aka , is an open standard for creating 2D visual effects and video compositing. It operates in a plugin-like application development model. Essentially, it serves as both a Host - an application providing a set of methods, and a Plug-in - an application or module implementing this set. OFX Image Processing API This configuration offers the potential for unlimited expansion of the host application's functionality. DaVinci Resolve and Metal Applications such as Final Cut X and DaVinci Resolve Studio, starting from version 16, fully support Apple Metal pipelines. Similar to OpenCL and Cuda, in the case of OFX, you can obtain a descriptor or handler of a platform-specific command queue. The host system also takes responsibility for allocating a pool of such queues and balancing calculations on them. Moreover, it places the source and target image clip data in GPU memory, significantly simplifying the development of extensible functionality. OFX Version Support in Resolve With Resolve, things are slightly more complicated. DaVinci announces support for OFX v1.4, albeit with some limitations. Specifically, some methods for working with interface functions are not available for use. To determine which method is available, OFX allows you to examine the supported suite through key/value queries. Publishing methods in the plugin code are based on . But we will use the OpenFXS C++ shell adapted for C++17. For convenience, I've compiled everything into one repository: taken from the open-source . C calls dehancer-external Dehancer project OFXS Concept In this project, I will be using OpenFXS, a C++ extension to OpenFX that was originally written by and has become popular over time in commercial and open-source video processing projects. Bruno Nicoletti The original was not adapted to modern C++ dialects, so I updated it to make it compatible with . OpenFXS C++17 OFX, and consequently OFXS, is a standalone software module that is dynamically loaded by the host program. Essentially, it is a dynamic library that is loaded when the main application starts. OpenFXS, like OFX, must publish method signatures. Hence, we use one C method from the code. To start developing in OpenFXS, you need to agree to a few common sets of classes that are used to create new functionality in your application. Typically, in a new project, you need to inherit from these classes and implement or override some virtual methods. To create your own plugin on the host system, let's start by familiarizing ourselves with the following public classes and the same method: is a basic template for creating a plugin's data structure suite and control panel (although it can be left empty). The inherited class creates a singleton object that registers a set of parameters and presets in the host system, with which the developer registers his module; OFX::PluginFactoryHelper - base container class for creating and storing structure properties; OFX::ParamSetDescriptor - a container of properties used when manipulating graphic data when calling data processing procedures. Used by the host application to save the context of processing parameters in the internal database and work with plugin properties defined for each of its instances; OFX::ImageEffectDescriptor - a set of settings that allows you to manipulate the registered data structure; OFX::ParamSet - a set of settings for effects on graphical data, inherited from OFX::ParamSet; OFX::ImageEffect - in the child class, it is necessary to implement data stream processing: images or videos; OFX::MultiThread::Processor - method of registering a plugin (factory) in the host application; OFX::Plugin::getPluginIDs False Color One feature that distinguishes the process of shooting video from simply capturing an image in a photo is the dynamic change of scenes and lighting of both scenes as a whole and areas in the image. This determines the way exposure is controlled during the shooting process. In digital video, there is a control monitor mode for operators in which the exposure level of areas is mapped into a limited set of zones, each tinted with its own color. This mode is sometimes called "predator" or False Color mode. The scales are usually referenced to the IRE scale. Such a monitor allows you to see the exposure zones and avoid significant mistakes when setting camera shooting parameters. Something similar in meaning is used when exposing in photography - zoning according to Adams, for example. You can measure a specific target with an exposure meter and see in which zone it is located, and in real-time we see the zones, neatly tinted for ease of perception. The number of zones is determined by the objectives and capabilities of the control monitor. For instance, a monitor used with cameras can incorporate up to 6 zones. Arri Alexa Adding Extensions Before proceeding with the example, we need to add some simple proxy classes to implement OpenFXS as a platform for processing source data, such as Metal textures. These classes include: : A proxy class for OFX clip data. imetalling::Image : A functor for transferring data from the clip buffer into a Metal texture. From DaVinci, you can extract a buffer of any structure and packaging of image channel values into the plugin, and it should be returned in a similar form. imetalling::Image2Texture To make working with the stream format in OFX easier, you can request the host to prepare data of a specific type in advance. I will use floats packed in RGBA - red/green/blue/alpha. : A reverse functor for transforming a stream into a host system buffer. As you can see, there is potential for significant optimization of calculations if you teach the Metal computing cores to work not with the texture, but directly with the buffer. imetalling::ImageFromTexture We inherit the OFXS base classes and write our functionality without going into the details of how the Metal core works: : Here, we implement the stream transformation and initiate the processing. imetalling::falsecolor::Processor : This will be our specific part of the suite description for the plugin. We need to implement several mandatory calls related to setting up the structure and create an instance of the OFX::ImageEffect class with specific functionality, which we divide into two subclasses in the implementation: Interaction and Plugin. imetalling::falsecolor::Factory : Implementation of the interactive part of working with effects. Essentially, this is the implementation of only virtual methods from OFX::ImageEffect related to processing changes in plugin parameters. imetalling::falsecolor::Interaction : Implementation of thread rendering, that is, launching imetalling::Processor. imetalling::falsecolor::Plugin Additionally, we will need several utility classes built on top of Metal to logically separate the host code and the kernel code on MSL. These include: : A base class that obscures work with the Metal command queue.    } Handling Events At this stage, if you compile a bundle with the OFX module, the plugin will already be available in the host application, and in DaVinci, it can be loaded onto the correction node. However, to work fully with a plugin instance, you need to define at least the interactive part and the part associated with processing the incoming video stream. To do this, we inherit from the class and overload virtual methods: OFX::ImageEffect - This method allows us to define the logic for handling the event. The event type is determined by the value of OFX::InstanceChangedArgs::reason and can be: eChangeUserEdit, eChangePluginEdit, eChangeTime - the event occurred as a result of a property being edited by the user, changed in a plugin or host application, or as a result of a change in the timeline. changedParam(const OFX::InstanceChangedArgs&, const std::string&) The second parameter specifies the string name that we defined at the plugin initialization stage, in our case, it is one parameter: . false_color_enabled_check_box - This method allows us to define the logic for reacting to an event, and return a state that determines whether something has changed and whether rendering makes sense. You can read the implementation of interactive interaction with OFX in the code. As you can see, we receive pointers to the clips: the source one and the memory area in which we will put the target transformation. Interaction.cpp Implementation of Rendering Launch We will add another logical layer on which we will define all the logic for launching the transformation. In our case, this is the only method for overriding so far: - Here, you can find out the properties of the clips and decide how to render them. Also, at this stage, the Metal command queue and some useful attributes associated with the current timeline properties become available to us. render(const OFX::RenderArguments& args) Processing At the launch stage, an object with useful properties became available to us: we have at least a pointer to the video stream (more precisely, a memory area with frame image data), and, most importantly, a queue of Metal commands. Now, we can construct a generic class that will bring us closer to a simple form of reusing kernel code.
