Empath allows researchers to analyze text over a much larger set of categories than are available in existing lexicons (for example, “violence”, “depression”, or “politics”), and it can generate new lexicons on demand using a model based on <a href="https://papers.nips.cc/paper/5021-distributed-representations-of-words-and-phrases-and-their-compositionality.pdf" target="_blank">neural embeddings</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowdsourcing" target="_blank">crowdsourcing</a>.
