Having been working for <a href="http://www.volttech.io" target="_blank">VOLT</a>, a last mile delivery platform based on blockchain, some time now, I have researched a lot about how blockchain can revolutionise the supply-chain and, quite frankly, how badly the supply-chain needs revolutionising.

Considering how far we’ve come with technology, it is a surprise that many areas of modern life are outdated. We still issue paper money, use physical ID cards, and we still follow century old cargo shipping procedures, relying heavily on paperwork and needless bureaucracy. The problem is that nowadays there are too many companies involved in the process, so this approach slows down everything. Let’s look at an example.

This is a document known as a Bill Lading. A Bill Lading (B/L) is a receipt for cargo transportation. So when a cargo is moved from port to port, there is acknowledgement and signing of the B/L to transfer the responsibility of the cargo to the next person.

UPDATE: From now on, I would like to call it Loops Communication Model (LCM) as the feedback loop is the basic unit of the whole theory and its core element.

Through millions of years of biological design, humans have developed a resistance to paradigmatic change. It makes sense. With almost inscrutable consistency, uncertainty is the cause of our everyday <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/05/opinion/sunday/are-you-in-despair-thats-good.html" target="_blank">stressors</a>. The uncertainty of being late. The uncertainty of losing money. The uncertainty of getting sick. It’s not the hours lying miserably in bed that we fear (which will almost always resolve itself) but rather the not knowing if or when it will happen.
