The Streaming Video on Demand (SVOD) industry is at an inflection point. Netflix’s recent third quarter earnings report was the last one the company will give before a handful of new video streaming offerings hit the market. With revenue stagnant, Apple is looking to services for a boost with the release of its TV+ service on November 1. Investopedia defines a product or service that is offered at a price that is not profitable, but it is sold to attract new customers or to sell additional products and services to those customers.
