Trigger Warning: Violence, mention of suicide.

Analise died today.

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. We had an entire elaborate plan laid out for how she would die, this was not it. I say “we” but really it was her plotting out her future demise, me sitting beside her taking notes, nodding in agreement. I always agreed with Analise. It was why she kept me around after I was three models out of date. She could have easily afforded a new robot too, but she would never get the chance to now.

I stared at her crumpled form and wondered what to do, cold air crept in in through the cracked door. The cold didn’t bother me, Analise hated the cold. It would never bother her again either I realized sadly.

Closing the door completely I went into the other room and turned up the heater. I vaguely knew it was pointless. I couldn’t feel the temperature, and neither could Analise, but it just felt wrong for her corpse to have to sit in a cold house.

I came back and sat down beside her body.

No more walks through national parks with me behind her photographing all her Instagram-worthy shots so that she wouldn’t have to. So that she could “live in the moment”.

We had been on so many adventures together. Thanks to her I had been to more national parks than any other server bot I knew of.

Analise’s cell phone rang. She would have been happy to know it was Tyler trying to get ahold of her. I knew it was Tyler because she had made me change his name on her phone to “Don’t answer”.

Despite this warning on her phone, Analise did indeed answer anytime he called, well except for now of course.

She was free from Tyler at last.

Tyler was going to be a part of her entire elaborate plan to die. Or at least he was supposed to be a witness. Analise had decided she was going to hurl herself off the top of Tyler’s building just as he was leaving for work, and then I would film the entire thing. Her tragic death, and what she knew would be Tyler’s heartbroken response to her untimely demise.

Analise’s hand rested a few inches away from me where I sat, blood seeped out from her head pooling on the hardwood floor. I took her hand in mine and gave it a tight squeeze. Tyler didn’t deserve the chance to mourn her. Tyler hadn’t loved Annalise. Not like I did.

I was the one who deserved to mourn her loss.

Her death would be for me, it would be the turning point in my life, not Tyler’s.

 I deserved this.

Like Analise taught me, sometimes you have to be selfish, sometimes you have to just choose what’s best for you.

Analise trying to replace me with a newer model would not have been what was best for me.

So I took action and here I was, able to mourn the human I loved in peace.
