If you used an AI tool to build a dashboard, a chart, or a simple landing page today, you might want to stop what you are doing and check your environment. This morning, one of the most popular libraries in the entire JavaScript ecosystem was compromised. Axios, which sees roughly 83 million weekly downloads, had its maintainer account hijacked on npm. None of the major tools currently has age gating or strict script-ignoring enabled by default. We are giving these models a credit card and a blank check to install whatever they want from the public internet. The Axios compromise is a reminder that as our tools get smarter, our security needs to get louder. Check your logs, rotate your keys, and keep a very close eye on what your "assistant" is doing behind the curtain.
