Too Long; Didn't Read

SOCKS5 proxies have poor security levels, especially if you’re thinking of using them in a business setting. They are usually seen as a default option for browsers and specific applications when going through proxy settings. SOCKs5 proxies are usually needed where a TCP connection is prohibited and data can be reached only through UDP. SockS5 proxy server creates a connection to any other server that stands behind a firewall, and exchanges network packets between the client and the actual server. It is not illegal as they are just a tool which allows for a specific way to connect to the internet.
