This article is to prove that it’s unnecessary to worry about anything that is yet to happen. Obviously, we need to keep doing what we need to, but the point is to not fret in anticipation of what lies ahead. I know I sound super optimistic but very often I find myself deeply stressed about what the future holds for me, and whether or not will I be able to achieve my goals and fulfil my purpose in this lifetime. I worry about my financial condition, I worry about losing my loved ones, especially my son (who is a 4 year old Boxer), and I worry a lot about failing at doing something impactful. However, when I analyzed the factors behind my worries, this is what I found: I was mainly worried about things that may or may not take place in the future. I was worried because I was focusing only on the negative outcomes and ignoring the positive ones altogether. I was worried because I was anticipating that I might not be able to succeed, instead of focusing on succeeding. I was worried about what I might not have in the future, ignoring the fact that I already have enough of those things (comfort, companionship, contentment). This analysis made me further realize the following: Humans fret because they anticipate the worst. Humans fret because they always want more. Humans fret because they cease to enjoy what they possess. Humans fret because they focus more on the future than the present. This analysis made me further realize the following: Humans anticipate the worst because they are programmed to do so. As humans, we are tuned to act in the present to secure our future. Humans always want more because they believe more is better than one. Humans cease to enjoy what they possess because they believe more possessions will bring more satisfaction and pleasure. Humans focus more on the future because they cease to enjoy the present. Finally, this analysis made me conclude the following: Humans need to rewrite the code and be thankful for what they have and enjoy it, rather than work towards securing a future that nobody has seen. Humans need to appreciate the value of owning and loving “one” of everything and everyone they possess. Humans need to realize that “more” is not a number and chasing an infinite value can never lead to happiness. Humans need to enjoy the damn present and believe that the future is going to be as awesome as now, if not better. Lastly, humans need to break free from the shackles of society, they need to stop doing what is said to be the right thing and start doing what they think is right, and they need to learn to be grateful and not join the chase, leaving behind their most precious possessions of the present. Que Sera Sera, whatever will be will be, the future’s not ours to see, Que Sera Sera.
