President Biden announced a goal to have 50% electric cars in the US by 2030. Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg was at a hearing in the House in July 2022 on this goal. He acknowledged that today's grid can’t handle it, but there was no practical solution for creating the infrastructure to handle it in such a short time. The government is still in the “task force” phase of this, which means we’re probably 30 years away from having anything actually done.
