I fully agree that choosing the right support is key. Financial situation isn’t the only factor to consider, however. Industry, deal speed, and investor-company fit are just a few of the things to keep in mind. Even with the money available, some companies still choose consultants because a lot of VC money doesn’t like to work through traditionally brokered deals or channels. 

For companies, it can be. I’ve had several clients come to me for assistance after having bad experiences (a lot of deeptech money doesn’t go here, in my experience. A lot of it won’t go through brokered deals either, due to the pace of dealflow.)
