Too Long; Didn't Read

Geotagtext is a web application made by Public Invention volunteers that allows users to geographically mark, or geotag, places and things that are important to them with a browser running on a smartphone or larger computer. Users simply create their own map application and can instantly start working on their own set of special geo markers. These map applications are all public, and can be shared with others by simply giving the name of the application. Using builtin geolocating features of the browser, the user's current position can be recorded as a geotagging. This article teaches you how to build a zero-deployment, browser-delivered web application by composing widely available gratis (zero cost) tools.
