Let’s imagine the future of cinema that’s directed by Humans and created by AI.

The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has already left an indelible mark on various industries, and the film industry is no exception.

For example, Wayne Hills, a South Korean company, is one of the pioneers in this emerging trend. They are in the process of producing a small series entirely made by AI – from scripting and character creation to video, audio, and even subtitles.

Their venture into AI-created cinema will consist of three 20-minute episodes in the style of a science-fiction drama. While the early results may seem cringe-worthy, as seen in , the mere existence of such a series is indicative of the future of filmmaking.

The initial steps into AI cinema will likely involve the increasing use of AI in various aspects of film production. Many industries are already utilizing AI technology in areas such as content generation, editing, sound design, and more. As technology matures, we can expect a shift towards films entirely created by AI, albeit directed by humans.

The AI film landscape is anticipated to expand in multiple directions, incorporating various genres and sub-genres. These AI-created films could feature avatars and voices of famous actors, paving the way for entirely AI-generated star actors.

These digital actors could potentially possess the looks, expressions, and voices that perfectly fit the director's vision without the physical limitations of human actors. The concept of AI-generated influencers already exists, and the transition to AI-generated actors is a logical next step.

The future of AI cinema is not limited to the creation of films. With AI-generated stars, we could see AI-specific film festivals, and even a unique category of classics could emerge. AI could also play a role in movie promotion, using data analysis to tailor marketing campaigns to the tastes and preferences of individual viewers.

Despite the exciting prospects of AI-driven cinema, it is important to note that traditional cinema is unlikely to disappear. Instead, it will coexist alongside AI-created cinema and may even benefit from it. Traditional cinema's uniqueness and authenticity may be further highlighted as it contrasts with AI-generated films.
