Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mario has just come on stage in San Francisco to announce the arrival of a Mario game to iOS later this year (for holiday season, apparently). And while they were low on details on the release date, Nintendo has already announced a little something for the launch of iOS:
A Mario sticker pack for iMessage. What’s that going to be like?
Again, Miyamoto hasn’t revealed any details, but if you are anywhere from Korea or Japan you might be aware of the fact that Nintendo has already released some Mario Stickers on Line.
So here’s something to look forward to while we wait for Mario for iOS to drop:
Everything about this makes sense, Nintendo gets to secretly advertise their upcoming rebirth on iOS while Apple makes sure its iMessage sticker platform gets some real visibility within just the right target group. I’m hopeful and curious for the changes coming to this neglected platform.
For everyone not able to wait for the release of the game, Nintendo added a notify button to its Super Mario Run landing page. For everyone curious about some more details of the actual gameplay, here’s an insightful interview conducted with Miyamoto by Time after the show. We can’t wait to see you on any iPhones near you, Mario.
