In this article, we’ll look at how to effectively log and monitor your systems. Logging tells you what happened, and gives you the raw data to track down the issue. Monitoring tells you how your application is behaving and can alert you when there are issues. We need a system that will let us know when an error happens and, if it is good enough, why that error occurred. Here are some of my favorite tools to use when I’m monitoring an application.
