By 2023, it is estimated that there will be approximately 257 million social media users in the United States. Social media has reshaped the way we interact online. Users from every corner of the world are able to discover real-time, world events and are able to connect across long distances. Users are also able to access endless amounts of information, all at their fingertips, as well as find common ground and embrace new interests.
It is crucial  companies utilize their social platforms wisely and  correctly. For example, reposting the same content across every social channel is a poor decision because each platform has a specific audience and requires a unique delivery. Also, employing every social channel available may appear like a solid strategy but too many platforms can lead to dull content. One or two platforms done strongly will produce better results. Furthermore, developing trust among followers is truly important as it showcases the value of the customer’s relationship.
However, with this incredible growth of social media, there is also a larger presence of online malevolence. Hackers have been a part of the fabric of the online world since it began but now more than ever, it is important for businesses to be hyper aware. There have been many instances of a business’ Twitter or Instagram getting hacked and not only losing content but also losing followers, which is sometimes the most detrimental of all.
This is one of the reasons why companies need to determine who their target audience is. Not only will it save significantly in spending but it will also help establish a loyal and committed customer base by finding a perfect audience.
It is important for businesses and companies to be aware and employ safeguards to ensure their accounts do not get hacked. If you establish a solid audience, and you do get hacked, it is likely your loyal users will be able to delineate between what is true content and what is of the hacker.
