"I will quote Balaji Srinivasan’s Twitter bio - ‘Immutable money, infinite frontier, eternal life.’ This is referring to crypto, space colonization, and biotech. The interplay between these three broad areas will likely exponentially enhance human capabilities and propel us towards reaching a Stage 1 civilization and beyond. This is necessary for the long-term survival of our species. If you have no idea what a Stage 1 civilization is, google the Kardashev scale."via the TL;DR App

Hey Hackers! I’m Michal.

First of all, a huge thank you to the HackerNoon community and staff for nominating me for a few 2021 Noonies awards! I’ve been nominated in the following categories please do check out these award pages and vote:

  1. HEALTH: https://noonies.tech/award/2021-hackernoon-contributor-of-the-year-health
  2. PERFORMANCE: https://noonies.tech/award/2021-hackernoon-contributor-of-the-year-performance

As someone in the tech industry, I believe that the most exciting technology of the present is crypto because it has the power to revolutionize the government, society, finance, culture, work, and more.

Learn more about my thoughts and opinions on tech, work, and life in general via the interview below.

1. What do you do and why do you do it? (tell us your story)

I leverage tech to build exciting new stuff with the potential to change the world, however cheesy that may sound. But what else is out there, right? In the past, this has revolved around a few different industries.

Today, most of it falls under the umbrella of crypto, which is ‘eating’ more and more of the world. More on this below.

In my spare time, I biohack and experiment on myself in order to improve my health and performance.

This is important, as (at least until the metaverse has fully arrived), we still only have one body and one mind. It needs a lot of maintenance.

2. Tell us more about the things you create / write / manage / build!

Read my biohacking article on HackerNoon to learn more about those activities.

Also follow me on Twitter to see my crypto adventures, opinions, and the DAOs I am involved in.

3. How did you end up on your current career path? Do you like it?

I love it, it’s one of the best drugs out there. It happened totally randomly and unexpectedly, it’s your typical ‘drunken walk’ story.

I graduated and started my career in architecture. I quit out of boredom and frustration on how slowly things were moving. I stumbled upon tech startups.

I’ve pivoted my way through proptech, edtech, and healthtech, towards crypto - mostly based on opportunities I’ve stumbled upon, at each given time. I think I’ve ended up in the right place, the destiny sometimes has a funny way of poking you in the right direction.

4. What tech are you most excited or passionate about right now and why?

I will quote Balaji Srinivasan’s Twitter bio - ‘Immutable money, infinite frontier, eternal life.’ This is referring to crypto, space colonization, and biotech.

The interplay between these three broad areas will likely exponentially enhance human capabilities and propel us towards reaching a Stage 1 civilization and beyond. This is necessary for the long-term survival of our species. If you have no idea what a Stage 1 civilization is, google the Kardashev scale.

5. What tech are you most worried about right now and why?

AI.

There is just no way of knowing what happens if and when we’ve reached the singularity. It’s quite spooky.

At the same time, I have a fatalistic view on this. We as humans are very bad at stopping technological progress.

I can’t think of a single example - other than on a local scale - where we have done so, over an extended period of time.

If the next evolutionary step is to be colonized by robots then it’s going to happen whether we like it or not.

6. If we gave you 10 million dollars to invest in something today, what would you invest in and why?

I would add it to my crypto investment portfolio.

7. What are you currently learning?

So much every day! Mostly on the topics mentioned above.

Plus starting to realize the unprecedented power that internet communities are starting to unleash onto the world.

8. What’s the best advice you’ve ever given someone?

Two ears, one mouth. Always assume you know nothing about a certain topic and be open to new information challenging your current views, no matter how much of an expert you are on the topic.

9. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

‘If you are not failing you are not trying hard enough.’

I forgot who said that. But this is a mantra in the startup world, whether you are a builder or an investor.

If everything is working out smoothly all the time, it’s one of the worst scenarios possible - it simply means you are not going fast enough, not thinking big enough, and not taking enough risk. This applies in personal life as well.
