In the nine years or so since the first “crypto game” was launched, Web3 gaming has come a long way. Last year alone saw an incredible increase of nearly 85% in the number of people playing games on the blockchain, reaching well over a million. If this pace continues, this new industry will have 20 million players in the next five years. There can be little doubt that Web3 gaming is an extremely attractive industry, even in its infancy. So how can it be better fostered? Superb Wallet is the answer.

What Is a Web3 Wallet?

As anyone who has ever invested in cryptocurrency knows, a “crypto wallet” is needed in order to trade. To the uninitiated, these wallets can be excessively confusing, as different wallets have access to different cryptocurrencies.

If you’re interested in gaming on the blockchain, and you’re not a seasoned crypto investor or a full-stack developer, you’re in for quite the bumpy onboarding ride.

In-Game NFTs

A central tenet of Web3 gaming is player ownership. Players can own their own identities and avatars, as opposed to traditional platforms owning them, like Google or Facebook. Once you manage to get past a Web3 wallet and actually enter a game, you can purchase NFTs in the game…often these NFTs are required to play. An NFT of course is a non-fungible token, meaning that your NFT is unique, and you have proof of ownership. An example of how they are used in a game would be owning your specific “hero” in a fantasy game, with attributes, abilities, and skills specially configured for your hero. Later, you can sell this hero, and possibly for a profit.

Player Ownership

Many Web3 games also allow players to “stake” in-game, essentially meaning they can own part of the game itself. This could be in the form of land that has been purchased in whatever metaverse the game is in. As you develop this land, you can also rent it out. How can you prove it’s your land? Because it’s an NFT, it’s been minted on the blockchain, and you alone can access it through…wait for it…your Web3 wallet.

The Problem With Web3 Wallets

The problem with most Web3 wallets is that they have been developed by developers. This is obviously a no-brainer, but the point is that they are not easy to use, and players generally don’t like them. Players especially don’t like Web3 wallets if they’re new to the industry. Even getting into a game can prove a nightmare, as quite often you need to open a new wallet, thus repeating a dreaded step you’ve already had to do too many times in other games. Then you’ll need to purchase whatever cryptocurrency is used on that game’s specific blockchain. Once you’re in the game, you’ll need to buy in-game tokens (some games have more than one!) that can be used for purchasing and minting NFTs.

How Can You Sell an NFT From a Different Blockchain?

There are many sites that offer this service, for example OpenSea. You can own an NFT on one wallet, but to transfer it to another wallet, you’ll need a ton of knowledge, and a wall to bang your head against.

In other words, the very nature of Web3 gaming is literally killing Web3 gaming before it can truly reach its full potential.

Superb Wallet Is the Solution

As previously stated, Web3 wallets are developed by developers. They don’t take gamers into account, with little to no UX—user experience—included in the process. What if these developers were also gamers? It’s not at all impossible to imagine, but it is impossible to find. Until now, that is. Imagine a Web3 wallet that is easy to join, and does all the work of onboarding in any Web3 game you want without any hassle. Superb.Games has accomplished this impossible task.

What is Superb.Games?

Superb.Games is a small group of gamers (who are also programmers!) that has been making games on Facebook and mobile since 2011. We’ve had over $20 million in turnover, we’re profitable, and now they have turned their sights on Web3 gaming! Backed by Play Ventures (they need no introduction in the mobile gaming industry), Superb.Games quickly realized the potential of Web3 gaming, as well as its chief obstacle—the Web3 wallet. So we got straight to work on fixing this rather major issue.

Why Is Superb Wallet the Answer?

There are two answers to this question: the simple answer, and the technical answer. The simple answer is that it’s easy to use. Superb Wallet is of the gamer, by the gamer, for the gamer. You just can’t beat that kind of motivation and know-how. The technical answer is that Superb Wallet uses five key features:

  • It is “chain agnostic”, meaning it supports all blockchains;
  • The wallet integrates “game metadata”, meaning it makes discovering new games so much easier for gamers;
  • Superb Wallet is integrated with Superb gaming platform via a SDK (software development kit), meaning players can enter new games via the wallet;
  • Superb’s “Gamer ID” and SSO (single sign-on), which of course means you only have to sign in once, and Superb Wallet will do the rest;
  • Simple onboarding and asset transactions allows gamers to focus on gaming, and not the endless bureaucracy of other Web3 wallets.
