We called the program, the HackerShip. I can still remember sitting in a coffee shop on that cold and windy day in Philadelphia – editing the last draft of with my mentor and supervisor, Linh Smooke. this introduction Around 400 applications, along with rounds of tests and interviews later, HackerNoon officially welcomed 16 interns. 16 talented overachievers, from all around the world, joined 10 different teams. They all had exactly what we were looking for: a genuine interest in technology and publishing industry, an innate curiosity, a willingness to learn, and an open mind to the unusual and unexpected. Boy did they deliver! (And continue to do so.) Go team! Why an Internship Program? The answer is simple: I was one of the first interns at HackerNoon, I loved the experience (I still do), and I wanted to share this amazing opportunity to any (young at heart) professional who is interested in tech, writing, or working at a startup. But What Do They Do, Actually? Well, they don’t bring people coffee, I can assure you. Not even virtually. After (almost) two months aboard the HackerShip, our interns have had the chance to learn about the nature of their teams, help their mentors with day-to-day tasks, publish work, and draft important content for major projects ( and ). Noonies Startups of the Year The interns – all mentored by our amazing staff members – shadow their team and help with responsibilities and projects on a daily basis. Aside from their projects and responsibilities, all the interns are encouraged to publish content about anything that they desire – to their heart’s content. At HackerNoon, we believe that words are powerful, and the ability to write will get you far and wide in life.
