OpenAI has introduced a new feature called GPTs (Generative Pre-trained Transformers), which are custom versions of ChatGPT tailored for specific purposes. These customized GPTs allow users to create versions of ChatGPT that are more helpful in their daily lives, work, or specific tasks. The creation process is straightforward and doesn't require any coding skills. Users can start by initiating a conversation, providing instructions and additional knowledge, and selecting capabilities such as web searching, image creation, or data analysis.
OpenAI is also launching the GPT Store, where users can share their GPTs publicly. This platform will feature creations by verified builders, allowing GPTs to become searchable and potentially climb leaderboards. Categories will include productivity, education, and fun. Additionally, creators will have the opportunity to earn money based on the popularity of their GPTs.
Now, let’s check the basics of building GPTs.
Here, you will find a step-by-step guide. If you need a more advanced level, I will be launching a free mini-course where I will show two examples - how to build an AI Psychotherapist with a focus on insightful dialogue and an AI PDF tool that Adapts tone, finds info in PDFs and creates quizzes.
It’s free, all you need is to subscribe to my e-mail newsletter ‘AI Hunters’ and wait till next week. If you subscribe later - there will be a link to all the free mini-courses I will hold in each newsletter.
Explore other GPTs
Before you start, you can also check GPTs that already exist to get inspiration and motivation. You can do so by checking out the ‘Explore’ section.
Also, there are special GPTs online catalogs, where you can surf through different apps of other users. For example, you can check this one: https://gptappstore.ai/popular
Creating your own GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) with OpenAI's platform is a straightforward process that does not require coding skills.
Access the Platform
Visit chat.openai.com/create. You'll need an OpenAI account to get started.
Explore
Click on the ‘Explore’ button, just like on the screen above.
Create a GPT
Click on ‘Create a GPT’.
Describe your idea with a prompt.
Describe what you want your GPT to do. For example, let’s do a summarizer that creates a short Tweet with a summary out of a few sentences of text.
Naming and Logo
Check the naming and logo that GPT Builder suggests. You can change it if you like.
I think this one looks pretty good.
Tune your GPT
GPT Builder will ask additional questions to tune your idea better. You can add as many changes as you wish.
After adjusting all the changes you want, test your GPT in the playground. At this stage, you can see what’s needed to be improved. Just ask the GPT Builder.
Remember, you have control over your data and privacy settings when using and sharing your GPT. Also, consider the purpose of your GPT and how it can be most useful in your specific context, whether it's for personal use, work-related tasks, or just for fun.
You can save your GPT to continue editing it later, or you can share it with the world!
Hope that this article was useful for you! Create and share your GPTs!
