A white, straight, cis, male software engineer decided to become an engineer. He chose between a Chief of Staff role for a Silicon Valley adtech company and attending a coding “bootcamp’s” The bootcamp seemed expensive and risky. But once he started coding he didn’t want to stop, he loved the technical challenge, was thrilled to make headway against something so intimidating. For 12 months/14 hours/week, every time the program threw us into overwhelming tasks against tight time constraints, the program repeatedly threw us.
