Articles about biohacking have recently begun circulating around the social networks again. Although there are now more people that have taken the time to understand what the technology is, and more importantly what it can and can’t do, there are still many keyboard warriors out there screaming NWO, government control and mark of the beast. As someone that is involved in the industry, that understands the technology and develops applications that work with the technology, this is now becoming very frustrating. To avoid people continuing to make themselves look stupid while incorrectly warning people about how dangerous this technology is without actually having any understanding of it, I decided to interview my friend and pioneer of the biohacking world, Dangerous Things Founder & CEO, Amal Graafstra. Specifically, in the interview, we talk about the controversial RFID implants.

The media seems determined to use the fear factor of biohacking to boost their ratings, this is bad as we now have many people around the world that have been misinformed about the technology and developed an incorrect understanding of the tech. What is worse is that, in my experience, a lot of people simply will not listen to experts when they provide factual information and refuse to learn about the technology. They seem more happy to rage around the internet screaming about the technology than actually learning any facts. I have to say that Amal handles this a lot better than myself, I actively dive into the comments when I see the articles being shared, and share my knowledge of the technology, to me it demonstrates an ignorance when people are not at least open to listening to facts that would help them learn, and I will gladly stand my corner against any number of people.

In the interview, we debunk the false information and fear mongering that is being spread around the internet by the media and people that simply do not know what they are talking about, we also provide facts about exactly what the technology does and what it cannot do. You can listen to the full interview in the provided video, but I will touch upon the main subjects we covered, and will also expand some of the answers with my own knowledge and experience.

THESE ARE THE FACTS ABOUT BIOHACKING….

One of the main issues is that people base their views on false information, my first question to Amal was to explain about the capabilities of RFID implants, and what they can and cannot do. He started by explaining what the chips cannot do…

I guess it is probably better to start with what it can’t do, it can’t GPS

This is a very important thing for people to understand, a large majority of the people that comment negatively on articles about the implants, start with warnings about being tracked via the implants. This is simply not correct, as Amal said there is no GPS capabilities in the chips nor any way of powering any type of tracking device. Amal goes on to explain exactly what RFID technology is…

What makes the transponders interesting, is that they are RFID technologies, and that stands for Radio Frequency Identification, and the identification part is the primary application.

For RFID technology to work, it requires a reader to be very close to the chip, without the reader there is no power. This is something that I always try to explain to people. When I show people my chip, the reading device has to be almost touching my hand to be able to read anything, in many cases I, or they, have to move the device around my hand before it actually picks up a reading. Amal goes into more detail about this and explains that it has to be consensual for anyone to access data on the chip, the range of the chip means that there is no way of anyone reading the data from the chip more than a few inches, in my experience, a few millimeters away.

Another thing that I find myself constantly explaining to people yet falls on deaf ears, is that they already use technologies in their everyday life that expose their data, yet they use them without issues. Many people do not know passports have the same type of chip in them, your bank card has similar technology, your mobile is probably one the most dangerous pieces of technology you own, and your Facebook account tracks you wherever you go on the internet, but everyone uses them with any complaints.

Amal mentions about the fact that whether you use your bank card, or you use your implant with your payment details stored in them, the privacy risk is no different. When you make a payment with your credit card you provide the payment merchant, the business, and anyone other company involved in making that transaction possible your billing details. Whether you use your implant or card makes no difference, except for the fact you can never lose your implant.

There is a unique ID for each chip, in themselves, these IDs are absolutely useless to anything other than devices and applications that already know who you are, there is no online database of these IDs that connect the chips to a person, so there is no way that you can be identified by the chip. Amal also touched upon in the case that someone did get hold of the ID or a key that is stored on the chip, they would have absolutely no idea what it was used for, so again, the security concerns are pretty much void.

We came up to the subject of people believing that the technology is connected to governments & NWO, and how people believe that the technology is used to track, monitor and control. To anyone that actually knows about biohacking and RFID, this an absolute joke, and one that I personally have shared many a time laughing with friends about how crazy a notion this is. Amal gave a good response to this:

That I think is dumb!

You are already in the system, you are already tracked in your everyday life, the fact that you are using your implant instead of a card is irrelevant.

I have covered the main areas that I wanted to focus on in this article, but the interview includes a lot more discussion about different issues including people that think they have been implanted against their will, religious groups views on the technology, how 3rd party services add security risks and other areas of interest so please check out the interview in full to find out more about these topics.

I am pretty sure that the factual information provided in the interview and article will not get nearly as much coverage as the fairy tail, click bait stories, but someone has to speak up so I figured it may as well be us.

I will finish up with the last thing I asked Amal, what advice would you give to people that are reading the false information out there and making judgments based on that. To summarize his answer, talk to somebody that actually understands it, experts in the field. This is great advice, and I will add to that, if someone that knows what they are talking about tries to teach you some facts about the technology, have the decency to listen and take on board what you are explained, after all, it will stop you looking like a complete fool on social media ;)
