If you are an amateur writer or a professional content maker, I'm sure you are well aware of ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI-generated tools that are known to enhance content. From writing simple social media posts to engaging emails, ads, and whatever you can think of, using the right prompts will provide you with better ideas.
But are these AI tools actually helping our writing skills? Or are we forgetting to challenge our skills?
Well, we know that these are data-based tools that provide answers to our prompts based on the data they have collected so far from human-written content. So, when we ask a query, we are actually getting the data that writers have answered, just like Google.
ChatGPT is the second fastest online service to reach 1M users within a few days.
But then, what has made these tools so addictive? It's that we get the precise answer in one place and just how we want it to be.
The irony is that even in this AI-led world, we want to create zero AI-generated content. I mean, let's face it. We know AI tools have been used, from generating ideas to formatting. Then why pretend that we haven't used these?
I'm sure these tools would have helped several writers make the best of the content (not denying that it has helped me, too), but I believe that it has had a more negative impact on my creative skills.
Okay, so here is a question. When was the last time you created content entirely by yourself without the help of ChatGPT? For me, I can't even think of it. Though the contribution of this AI tool had been less, yes, I used it. (Though this post is all by myself).
With time I have realized that such tools are made to help the writers, but it has also limited our minds, our thoughts, and our creative writing skills. The clients want the project delivered quickly, so we shift to ChatGPT and other tools to rewrite and make zero-per-cent AI-generated content.
I am not saying that we should boycott these tools. Not at all. Let's agree; we all need them. But all I want to highlight is that I embrace them with grace. These should not be used at the cost of degrading your own writing skills. AI is a help, not a substitute, for our work.
Keep doing your in-depth research, keep reading what others write, and keep practicing the art of writing. Once again, AI should not overtake our own creative skills.
Let me know in the comments what you think about it and how AI helped or limited your writing skills.
Now that everyone is using ChatGPT, will there be times when we see the same type of content everywhere? We will be bored of getting the same answers. So, can we expect these tools to last forever? Or is it just a wave that will pass by?
What do you think about it?
