Within the last time, AI-powered writing has boomed, making it possible to generate pages of more or less meaningful text in seconds. All you need is to choose the writing tool, write a prompt containing some details about the task, launch the generation process, and wait a bit. Sounds cool but reality, as you may know, turned out to be much harsher. Without skilled guidance and significant editing, all these one-shot AI-generated content pieces come out too vague, generic, and lacking any valuable insights. Does it mean that we're doomed either to edit manually each text piece or accept poor content quality? My answer is NO! Keep reading to see for yourself how I approach humanizing AI text and enhancing its quality without adding a single manual edit. Of course, I edit my texts manually, too. My mission here is to show that, without manually editing, it's possible to achieve a way higher quality of AI-generated text than you think. Despite that, I strongly recommend  allocating enough time for editorial work. Defining the Experiment Scope So, I did the following: Found a typical AI-generated article lacking a human touch Got its sample part, and Processed this part consequently using some of my custom GPT-powered tools. The main rule was not to change a word manually. At the same time, I could hit "Regenerate" as many times as it was needed. The Exposed Article and Its Sample Part The text I selected was the last content piece published in a corporate blog of an online academy registered in the USA. The main reason for choosing was that all their texts were created with minimal human effort, which becomes clear from the very first sight. An article called covers the essence of graduation ceremonies in online high schools. It aimed to demystify the existence of virtual commencements, a significant leap from traditional ceremonies, yet faltered in its execution. “Celebrating Milestones: Do Online High Schools Have Graduation Ceremonies?” The text was marred by a lack of direction and clarity, its paragraphs meandering without purpose. It lacked the robust support of data, with statements floating unanchored, devoid of the weight of evidence. Sentences echoed each other, monotonous in their structure, and the formatting presented a disjointed array of numbered lists, disrupting the flow. Generic assertions clouded the narrative, and the transitions between topics jolted the reader, lacking a smooth passage from one idea to the next. And a cherry on the cake was tons of typical AI cliches you probably know well. Below I’ll present you my vocabulary of these words and phrases which should be avoided anyway. As a result, I’ve got several introduction paragraphs, a bit below 200 words total: …And the Magic Begins!  Steps of Experiment Detailed As you can see in a screenshot above, my zoo is relatively big, currently covering 17 custom GPTs for different purposes. Only two of them are public, others are strictly for internal usage. This is because it turns out to be too easy to break them down and access their knowledge. Maybe sometimes OpenAI will fix this issue, and I hope they will. Now, let’s take a look at all the steps I’ve conducted within my experiment and review each of them in detail. 1. Overall Quality Evaluation This is the first step, which is part of a bigger, more complex one. The idea is to form a comprehensive list of refinements based on various factors, combine them, find the data required, make the refinements specific, and then implement them in a single run. For this step, I used — a tool aimed at analyzing texts consequently and providing detailed feedback. This is one of my public tools, so you can access it by following the link above. It suggested reorganizing sections for coherence and advised tightening verbose paragraphs to enhance clarity. Gollum 2. E-E-A-T Evaluation For E-E-A-T evaluation, I have a tool named SzonKonery. If you wondering why the heck I named it in such a weird way, I'll tell you that this strange name makes specific sense for me only. As a result, SzonKonery raised a flag on ethical considerations, ensuring the content's integrity, and suggested ways to infuse the narrative with authoritative evidence, compelling examples, and a language that resonates. 3. Putting Requirements Together The next step is to merge the results of two previous evaluations. It’s an easy step required for the next evaluation. 4. Sourcing Credible Data The merged list is missing important supporting data that underscore different aspects of the article like statistics, examples, or sources for highlighted factual information. For this purpose, I have another tool named ProofSupplier. The tool uses the Bing browsing feature to search for relevant sources, statistics, studies, and expert insights, integrating them into the draft, enriching the content, and lending it both depth and credibility. Once the data is gathered, it’s time to generate specific refinements. Another action I’ve conducted at this stage was a correction of firm AI formatting. 5. Humanization, Finally! In this symphony of AI efficiency, the draft risked losing its human touch. My Human Among Robots tool is at the service here, meticulously weaving in natural phrasing and ensuring the text resonates with warmth and relatability. The humanization process is often repetitive. One of the crucial features of Human Among Robots is its randomness, which is a solid feature of human writing. That’s why the result is always unpredictable, often requiring several runs and then choosing the best-fitting one. Below you can compare the initial text with takes 1, 2, and 3. Passing AI Text Detectors What about the AI text detector, will the refined text pass it or not? Let’s find out. For testing purposes, I use Originality.ai which showed the highest accuracy among similar services. First of all, a test check of the initial piece of text. Failed: Take 1 was insufficiently better: Take 2 showed the same 100% AI as the initial text: But this is not the end! I got the last output before humanizing, fed it to Claude 2, supplied it with the guidelines from my Human Among Robots, and prompted it to humanize the text. You can find the result below. The only thing remaining is to check if it will pass the AI text detector. Got it! What’s Actually Happened Below you can review a kind of analysis of what was changed in the text, and how. The initial draft presented a disconnected narrative, "As the landscape of education continues to evolve, students exploring online high school options often wonder about a significant milestone: graduation ceremonies." It set the scene but failed to engage the reader meaningfully. Before: Post-refinement, the narrative transformed, "The way we learn is evolving, and so is our celebration of academic milestones. Online high school students often ponder: 'Will we experience graduation ceremonies?'" This revision not only captures attention but also invites the reader into an immersive discussion. After: The draft wandered through abstract notions, "Let’s explore the possibilities, traditions, and unique aspects of celebrating academic achievements in the digital realm." Before: The refined content offers clarity and depth, "Yes, the celebrations exist, and they're more impactful than one might imagine. Virtual ceremonies symbolize a significant leap, embracing modern educational strides and challenges." It directly addresses the reader's curiosity, enriching the narrative with meaningful insights. After: The draft blandly addressed misconceptions, "Many believe online high schools lack traditional graduation ceremonies." Before: The revision confronts these misconceptions with a compelling narrative, "It's a myth that online schools skimp on graduation celebrations. They do celebrate but with a unique twist." It not only corrects the misconception but also enriches the narrative with a distinctive perspective. After: Conclusion The goal of this article was to show that AI-generated text of a decent quality isn’t a myth. For some, it means unreachable height, meanwhile for others, it’s quite achievable. As for me, it was a challenge but now it’s a target for further optimization. Technological innovations in the cryptocurrency space will become the main narrative driving the recovery in the latter part of 2023. The following are potential opportunities we believe can re-establish industry confidence in 2023. Layer2 will extend the Ethereum application ecosystem. Layer2, as the mainstream expansion scheme for Ethereum, has two major advantages. Firstly, it can improve Ethereum's processing capability and solve the congestion problem on the mainnet. Secondly, it can reduce transaction fees and make it easier for a lot of applications to become practical in the real world. Now the number of Layer2 solutions is on the rise, such as Arbitrum, Optimism, etc. They can interact with the Ethereum mainnet to meet different application scenarios and solve different needs. For one thing, the current processing capacity of Ethereum is extremely limited, which means a lot of Layer2 solutions are needed to scale it by executing transactions on Layer2. For another, with the rapid increase of new use cases on-chain, there will emerge more diversified needs for the execution layer. Therefore, we believe, as one of the major trends for crypto in 2023, there will be a large number of distinctive Layer2 solutions to interact with the Ethereum mainnet. According to Dune data, as of January 5, 2023, the total value bridged on Ethereum Layer2 scaling solution Abitrum reached 2,091,981 ETH, and the number of users participating in bridging transactions was 511,711. Adding the Material UI CSS framework to a React Application

The results have been amazing, dare I say it myself Disclaimer: You can jump straight to “Day 1: My experience” if you’re uninterested in the history. History: The back story Near the end of last year, I went through an unhealthy habit of wasting a lot of time and money by indulging myself with nights out with friends. I would spend about 2–3 nights out weekly (usually Fridays and Sundays). On top of this unhealthy layer of bad decisions, I adopted an even more interesting one: About halfway through the evening, albeit incredibly dangerous, I would abandon my friend group and take a lone walk through the city. Identifying my priorities Going out and, dare I say, being surrounded by an unproductive atmosphere…and being unproductive myself, would put me in an unbent state of reflection. What am I doing? Why am I doing what I’m doing? What do I want to be doing? …It’s time for a walk. The answers to those questions became clear on about my third walk, which is when I stopped the habit: I’m wasting time and money. I’m under the illusion that this is the best way to spend my time off, and that it’s a good way to be social. Building things, and building valuable social networks. And those (3), were the end of how I identified my 2 main priorities. “If you have more than 3 priorities, you have none” — Jim Collins A turning point On 28th November 2018 (uncoincidentally the date of my birthday), as a protest to indulgence in the unproductive — I attended two meetups in the city. I had done photography for both of the meetups, and had learnt a bucket load from both. I came home feeling super productive. It begged the question: how, or why did I become so productive in that one day. What was the difference? It was mindfulness. I was in the present on that day. Birthday’s for males in their twenties are notoriously unproductive, and I knew that before the day, and I knew it on the day — I was fully aware. The realisation came: Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. — Sun Tzu, The Art of War Prior to my birthday, I had not been winning my days before they started. I just dangerously went along, and lived as the hours passed. In comes the app I became greedy after my birthday. I wanted the awareness I had that day, everyday. There was no shining moment of realisation…it was really simple. “What if I reminded myself to be productive a few times everyday?”. Sure, that would work, but it wouldn’t be powerful enough — I would end up turning the reminder off. I changed it up a little bit: “What if, regardless of what I’m doing, I could ask myself if I was working towards my goals or not?”, and bingo! That sold it for me. Here’s why: It would prompt me to be honest with myself and be immediately accountable. I would be able to record those responses and aggregate them, and would allow me to weigh in on how productive I’ve been over time. I was blind to the biggest thing it would do for me. Day 1: My experience I published the app to the in the early hours of 04 Jan 2019. I was naturally the first user. Google Play Store for download Prompt 1 [11AM] I got into work at 8AM on Friday, and was naturally being productive, that when the app asked me: “Are you currently doing something that works towards your goals?”, the answer was an obvious yes. Nothing special — but I couldn’t hide my excitement, as it added “Beach Rd”, the location of our office, to the list of places I had been productive. Prompt 2 [4PM] A.K.A. The rude prompt. After my 4PM work beer and sustained exhaustion from travelling back home, I lay on my bed and checked my phone — and there it was: “Are you currently doing something that works towards your goals?” It was a difficult one — rest is important, but I was honest — I was planning to grab another drink later, so I gave it a No. What’s interesting is what happened afterwards. Although my initial intention was to go for a drink, I asked myself “why?” — and it was because I was under the illusion that my energy was spent…which didn’t make sense, because being out demands energy. I can’t believe the lies I tell myself everyday. So instead, I: Took a short nap, and woke up 20 minutes later Read 4 medium articles (This really stuck out) one Watched a Udemy course on UX and made some touch ups to a project from what I learnt on the course Played 5 games of Dota as a break, while I listened to 5 1-hour long podcasts on . I really recommend these! Indie Hackers Prompt 3 [9PM] This happened as I was playing Dota. I was listening to a podcast, so I marked it as a yes. The unexpected triumph I woke up this morning at 7AM. That’s possibly 4 hours ahead of the time I would’ve woken up had I gone out. When I woke up, I saw all my devices on my bed (I can’t rid the habit just yet), and my first instinct was to open them up and check notifications — One of those notifications to check were if I had a productivity prompt. The thought of the prompt put me in awareness mode. “Wait…”, I thought, “I should decide my priorities for the day.” And so I did. I have design work to do for a friend, I should probably go for a walk, and read something…on that note, I should probably write something too; and well…I wrote this. The true power of the app While the app is in its very early stages and has a super simple, almost undesigned, UI; it’s power doesn’t come from itself — but from the person using it; or more accurately, the user’s psychology. The prompts, or points of mindfulness during the day serve as anchors, similar to how meditation would, but in micro doses at a higher frequency. An illustration below, in my experience Unanchored awareness Going about your day without intentional taps into awareness. Our world is designed to make the equilibrium impulsive. Exhaustion and distractions push you more into blindly flowing the current. (Regardless of whether it’s a good or bad one) Meditation: Longer times practicing mindfulness In mindful meditation, you end up training the brain to be more mindful over time using neuroplastic molding. This is not specifically for productivity, but your general mental well-being. Foqus: More frequent, shorter bursts of mindfulness The app brings you back into a state of awareness about your productivity at multiple points throughout the day. The cycle is more volatile, and can therefore be exhausting (an interesting problem to solve); but this is specifically directed towards productivity and anchoring you towards it. Conclusion This has been a game changer for me since it’s publication.
