The user can use centralized wallet issuers who manage their keys entirely on their behalf, they can use a secure multiparty computation scheme for managing 1 of n keys enabling things like recovery services in the event they or the institution loses a key, or they can manage their keys entirely on the client-side. The reason we hear so much about this outside the blockchain world is there is a misunderstanding of the choices available and the flexibility afforded by this technology. I try to explain how we are different, and we add to the table from a technology perspective. We try to marry both cryptography and game theory to provide privacy to users. Zero-knowledge proofs alone would only provide limited value add in providing privacy. What we aim to do is to leverage some game theory to make sure there are enough participants in the protocol that privacy is a very highly likely outcome. The example that I generally use is that of using zero-knowledge proofs to prove one membership to a group of one to that a group of hundred thousand. In general, this is more like you have a room with just one door, if it's just you and me - I would be the prover and you would be the verifier. I make the claim that I can get out of the room without using the door. You would then close the door behind me once I enter the room. A few minutes later you see me outside. So my claim that I can escape from the room without using the door is proven to be true. But you as verifier don't know how I did it Anish May 16, 2021, 12:24 AM The reason zero-knowledge proofs are important is until recently, there was a trade-off between privacy and authenticity. However, I shall try answering this. In general privacy in mixers implies we need to incentivise folks to participate in the privacy mixing pools - loosely speaking. The larger the size of the pools the better privacy, but it becomes more expensive. So it becomes the optimisation of where the equilibrium condition exists where we can provide privacy at the optimal price point. However in my humble opinion, given the massive network effect and the very large developer community - if Ethereum manages to solve some of the scaling pains and delivers eth 2.0 in reasonable time scale it is very likely that Ethereum would still the major “flavour”. Some of the recent developments in Eth ecosystem such as EIP1559 indicates folks involved in ecosystem design decisions are keeping their ears close to the ground and looking at possibilities. In many ways, Ethereum is a victim of its own success and it should be able to leverage that success to be a dominant player in future. Anish May 17, 2021, 12:51 AM There are two perspectives to this, one is that of something which I describe as “institutional”, entities that depend on their market strategies to earn their revenue, and second is that of the average users in the world of central bank digital currencies. For the above-mentioned institutionals - loss of privacy might result in loss of “alpha” - or their ability to have their own strategy. To compare this to real-world, take Renaissance Technologies the worlds largest hedge funds - we hardly know their strategies. However in Defi world, as it stands that doesn't exist. Following our chain of thought, assuming that CBDC’s don't really support privacy, then arbitrage - which is driven by data - especially in the case of FANG- I believe would give rise to increasing need for privacy for average retail users, once they are cognizant of what is happening and the price they pay for lack of privacy. Assuming if either one of the above turns out to be true, the chances that privacy protocol such as Panther being in the top three could be pretty high. In my view, there are a few core properties of public blockchains that make them contenders for dominance in the market. First of all, a blockchain solves the Byzantine General’s problem of coordinating actions amongst adversaries who have an incentive to collaborate but also to betray each other under certain circumstances. As such, it’s fair to say that each of these protocols imposes friction into the network in order to reach consensus. The real question then is what compromises are worth making on the consensus mechanism to achieve the use case, eg. store of value vs. payments. Outside of the consensus cornerstone of value are a wide range of use cases for protocols built for layer 1 or layer 2. When we began Panther we assessed the industry from first principles and it’s clear to us that privacy is a ubiquitous use case and a digital service demanded by every party in some way. We use the Tesla V 100 GPU, each with a dedicated memory of 32GB. For models specifically implemented for hateful meme detection, we take the codes published from the author for reimplementation [4]. For pre trained models which can be found under the Huggingface Library, we use the packages from Huggingface [5], specifically the BERT [4], VisualBERT [18] and the BLIP model. Gor ViLBERT [23], we take the released code from the authors [6]. For ALBEF [17] and BLIP-2 [15], we use the packages under the LAVIS Library [7] For each meme image, we constrain the total length of the meme text and the generic image caption (either from the captioning model or by asking about the content of the image) to be 65. For each additional questions, we restrict its length to be shorter than 20. If the concatenation of the sentence exceeds the limited length, the sentence will be truncated, otherwise, if the sentence is shorted than the limited length, it will be padded. We set the number of training epochs to be 10 for all models. The number of model parameters are summarized in Table 11. B FULL ABLATION STUDY RESULTS Due to the limitation of space, we only show results of accuracy in ablation studies in Table 6. The full results including both the AUC and the accuracy are provided in Table 12. C VISUALIZATION CASES In Section 5.5, we provide visualization of cases for comparing ProCapPromptHate with the basic PromptHate. Due to space constraints, we omit examples from the other two datasets. We provide more visualization cases in this part. In this part, we report results (with entities) when using the answers from a single probing question in Table 13. According to the results, we observe models using answers to a single probing question are all powerful and some even surpass heuristically asking all probing questions (e.g., using the question asking about nationality on FHM is better than using all probing questions). It points out using all probing captions may not be the optimal solution and may generate irrelevant image descriptions. For instance, confronted with a hateful meme targeting at black people, it is meaningless to ask the religion of people in the image. Interestingly, on MAMI, when only using answers to the probing question about gender reaches teh best performance. It is because MAMI contains only hateful memes about woman. A promising direction would train the model to dynamically select probing questions essential for meme detection for different memes. Recent studies have tried to fine-tune pre-trained vision-language models (PVLMs) for this task. However, with increasing model sizes, it becomes important to leverage powerful PVLMs more efficiently, rather than simply fine-tuning them. Recently, researchers have attempted to convert meme images into textual captions and prompt language models for predictions. This approach has shown good performance but suffers from noninformative image captions. Considering the two factors mentioned above, we propose a probing-based captioning approach to leverage PVLMs in a zero-shot visual question answering (VQA) manner. Specifically, we prompt a frozen PVLM by asking hateful contentrelated questions and use the answers as image captions (which we call Pro-Cap), so that the captions contain information critical for hateful content detection. Internet memes are often intended to express humor or satire. However, they are increasingly being exploited to spread hateful content across online platforms. Hateful memes attack individuals or communities based on their identities such as race, gender, or religion [5, 8, 12, 27]. The propagation of hateful memes can lead to discord online and may potentially result in hate crimes. Therefore, it is urgent to develop accurate hateful meme detection methods. The task of hateful meme detection is challenging due to the multimodal nature of memes. Detection involves not only comprehending both the images and the texts but also understanding how these two modalities interact. Previous work [14, 28, 35, 36] learns cross-modal interactions from scratch using hateful meme detection datasets. However, it may be difficult for models to learn complicated multimodal interactions with the limited amount of data available from these datasets. With the development of Pretrained Vision-Language Models (PVLMs) such as VisualBERT [18] and ViLBERT [23], recent work leverage these powerful PVLMs to facilitate the hateful meme detection task. A common approach is to fine-tune PVLMs with task-specific data [9, 20, 26, 34, 37]. However, it is less feasible to fine-tune the larger models such as BLIP-2 [15] and Flamingo [1] on meme detection because there are billions of trainable parameters. Therefore, computationally feasible solutions other than direct fine-tuning are needed to leverage large PVLMs in facilitating hateful meme detection. Different from the approach above using PVLMs, PromptHate[2] is a recently proposed model that converts the multimodal meme detection task into a unimodal masked language modeling task. It first generates meme image captions with an off-the-shelf image caption generator, ClipCap [25]. By converting all input information into text, it can prompt a pre-trained language model along with two demonstrative examples to predict whether or not the input is hateful by leveraging the rich background knowledge in the language model. Although PromptHate achieves state-of-the-art performance, it is significantly affected by the quality of image captions, as shown in Table 1. Image captions that are merely generic descriptions of images may omit crucial details [14, 37], such as the race and gender of people, which are essential for hateful content detection. But with additional image tags, such as entities found in the images and demographic information about the people in the images, the same model can be significantly improved, as shown in Table 1. However, generating these additional image tags is laborious and costly. For instance, entity extraction is usually conducted with the Google Vision Web Entity Detection API [2], which is a paid service. Ideally, we would like to find a more affordable way to obtain entity and demographic information from the images that is critical for hateful content detection. Both above-mentioned approaches (i.e., one using PVLMs and the other converting the task to a unimodal task) have their pros and cons. In this paper, we combine the ideas from these two approaches and design a hateful meme detection method that leverages the power of a frozen PVLM to complement the unimodal approach of PromptHate. Specifically, we use a set of “probing” questions to query a PVLM (BLIP-2 [15] in our experiments) for information related to common vulnerable targets in hateful content. The answers obtained from the probing questions will be treated as image captions (denoted as Pro-Cap) and used as input to a trainable hateful meme detection model. Figure 1 illustrates the overall workflow of the method. We refer to the step of using probing questions to generate the captions as probing-based captioning. Our proposed method fills existing research gaps by: 1) Leverage a PVLM without any adaptation or fine-tuning, thereby reducing computational cost; 2) Instead of explicitly obtaining additional image tags with costly APIs, we utilize the frozen PVLM to generate captions that contain information useful for hateful meme detection. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that to leverage PVLMs in a zero-shot manner through question answering to assist in the hateful meme detection task. To further validate our method, we test the effect of the generated Pro-Cap on both PromptHate[2] and a BERT-based[4] hateful meme detection model. Based on the experimental results, we observe that PromptHate with Pro-Cap (denoted as Pro-CapPromptHate) significantly surpasses the original PromptHate without additional image tags (i.e., about 4, 6, and 3 percentage points of absolute performance improvement on FHM [12], MAMI [5], and HarM [28] respectively). ProCapPromptHate also achieves comparable results with PromptHate with additional image tags, indicating that probing-based captioning can be a more affordable way of obtaining image entities or demographic information. Case studies further show that Pro-Cap offers essential image details for hateful content detection, enhancing the explainability of models to some extent. Meanwhile, ProCapBERT clearly surpasses multimodal BERT-based models of similar sizes (i.e., about 7 percentage points of absolute improvement with VisualBERT on FHM [12]), proving the generalization of the probing-based captioning method. Since then, I've been deeply engaged in developing my application and exploring various apps and trends within the Vision Pro App Store. One thing that grabbed my attention is that new apps are coming out every day, but only a few fit well with the immersive virtual reality experience. I guess many developers struggle to find documentation and examples for Vision Pro features. However, utilizing the capabilities of Vision Pro can set your application apart and provide users with an enhanced experience. In this article, I'll be sharing some tips and tricks I've uncovered while crafting my application. These tips will not only help your application to stand out but also ensure its seamless integration and native feel within VisionOS. Dark Surroundings Effect I'm sure you've noticed that when viewing a video or photo, the background behind the window is darkened, in the settings it's called "auto-dimming". To get the same effect you need to use .preferredSurroundingsEffect(.systemDark) on your view and then the space around the user will darken and your window will remain bright, this will help to keep the focus on the content. Hidden Window Controls Line When viewing a video or content, you want the user to have no distractions and create the effect of a window floating in the air, for this Apple has given us the ability to hide the bottom bar of the window that is used to move or close the current window. With .persistentSystemOverlays(.hidden) you can hide this control bar on your window, it will disappear with the default animation and only appear when the user interacts with the window. Video Reflection Effect If you open the standard Apple TV application and turn on a movie, you will notice that the movie window has a reflection that changes with each frame, giving a more immersive effect. To get a glow effect around your video, you need to use VideoPlayerComponent and enable isPassthroughTintingEnabled, then the effect will be the same as in Apple TV or HBO Max. Massive takes a novel approach by starting with mobile phones, a device most users are familiar with. By employing a “Verify to Earn” incentive mechanism and simplifying operations, Massive aims to draw more participants. This strategy helps newcomers gradually understand and join the Web3 industry, continuously injecting fresh blood into the sector. Web3 Highly Effective and Cheap: Massive could work as a settlement layer of blockchain Currently, all Rollup solutions based on ZK technology face delays in state confirmation on Layer1 (L1) due to cost and security concerns. This is typically addressed through proof aggregation technology and verification delays. introduces a solution that ensures Layer2 (L2)states can be decentralized and verified immediately after proof generation, significantly reducing the time for state transition confirmation. The verified state is then synchronized to L1, ensuring a swift and secure process. Massive Capital Efficiency: Massive could improve profits Nodes in the POS (Proof of Stake) network can join through staking and re-staking. If approach is reused, the POS consensus network can achieve Ethereum-level security. Massive supports staking and re-staking of various token types and offers flexible staking schemes tailored to different ecosystem types. It can be specifically divided into ZKRollup (off-chain computation), DA (Data Availability — off-chain transaction storage), ZKVaaS (Zero-Knowledge Verification as a Service — off-chain verification), and L1 (state updates and consensus). Even though we witnessed a historical moment in January when a BTC spot ETF was approved, allowing some traditional investors to trade BTC in a compliant manner, the influx of new users and resources still falls far short of the industry's urgent need for fresh participants. Simply opening up investment opportunities can only bring in some investors; achieving mass adoption requires different strategies. Some believe gaming could be the key to reaching this goal, others see potential in social media, and still, others think AI could pave the way. Regardless of the method, it's clear that industry insiders are all striving for mass adoption of blockchain. A recent event that caught my attention was Starkware's STRK token airdrop, which highlighted a significant fact: some developers outside of the usual crypto circles began to explore and show interest in entering the industry. This interest was sparked because Starkware conducted an airdrop to contributors of certain GitHub repositories, developers who might not have known about blockchain previously but became interested due to this event. Another application that left a strong impression on me is StepN, an app that became popular in the last bull market for its "earn while you run" concept. Users simply needed to purchase a pair of virtual shoes and then could earn rewards by running a very straightforward proposition daily. This led to a surge in user numbers and effectively broke into new user demographics. These examples underscore applications or infrastructure projects capable of attracting new users to the industry. To draw new users, the following characteristics are necessary: Simple operation, easy for users to get started; Low hardware requirements; An incentive mechanism. Both examples satisfy the first criteria: GitHub is familiar to developers, and mobile phones are familiar to general users. They also meet the second criteria, requiring either a computer or a mobile phone. The third criteria is met as well, with one offering "contribute to earn" and the other "running to earn." However, to continuously attract new users, sustainable incentives are essential. For Starkware, continuous token airdrops may not be viable; likewise, for StepN, perpetual mining and selling are also unsustainable. Thus, for an application to sustainably attract new users and hold long-term value, it must inherently sustain its appeal. Massive serves as an infrastructure service aimed at sustainably attracting new users to achieve the goal of mass adoption. It can support all ZK chain services, whether ZK layer1, ZK layer2, or ZK layer3, introducing new users to these ZK chains, enhancing system security, reducing operational costs, and improving capital efficiency. Architecture Massive is a POS (Proof of Stake) consensus network that primarily utilizes mobile devices as its nodes. Users are required to download the official app on their mobile devices, which supports both iOS and Android, the two leading operating systems. The architectural framework is outlined as follows (Fig.1): To become a node, users can fall into one of the following two categories: New users without any cryptocurrency assets can initially join the network. Their accumulated rewards must reach a certain amount before they can start unlocking subsequent mining rewards. Users already possessing some cryptocurrency assets can stake these assets to become a node on the Massive network. Depending on the underlying L1 blockchain, users can stake different assets. For example, in a Massive network serving BTC L2/L3, users can stake BRC20 and BTC assets. For Ethereum-based L2/L3 services, users can stake ERC20 and ETH assets. The wallet will integrate several mainstream ZK technology stacks for verification, such as plonky2, plonky3, and boojum, all of which belong to the STARK family. Following market trends, support for mainstream algorithms from the SNARK family, such as Halo2 or Nova, will be iteratively introduced. Mobile nodes that have completed staking will form a POS network to provide Timely Settlement for all Layer 2s and Layer 3s. If there is an excessive number of participating users, sharding technology can be utilized to form multiple independent POS networks according to specific standards. Provide Timely Settlement As mentioned earlier, Massive is not solely focused on attracting users; it also aims to address some of the current issues in the industry. Among these, the confirmation time for ZK L2s/L3s is a frequently discussed issue. Before we delve into this, let's take a look at the main solutions for ZK L2s as illustrated in the following diagram (Fig.2): It's evident that in the design of most L2 solutions, there's a need to aggregate a sufficient number of proofs on L2 and then send them to Ethereum for verification. This approach is adopted to reduce costs. Even with this premise, the aggregated proofs sent to L1 must wait for a certain period before calling the Verify contract to alter the global state, a measure taken from a security standpoint, although this delay can be configured. Therefore, it can be concluded that a L2 transaction, to be finally confirmed, requires a waiting period of between 2 to 23 hours. Until then, the validity of the proofs is verified only by a centralized sequencer. The diagram below (Fig.3) illustrates the current situation where, after their generation, proofs will be verified. Therefore, the primary intention behind Massive's design is to ensure that, before a proof is verified on L1, it goes through a verification process by a decentralized network, so everyone can verify now. It's important to note that if the POS network used for verifying the proof is provided by Eigenlayer's AVS ( ) service, then this POS network possesses the same level of security as Ethereum. Ultimately, only the latest global state needs to be updated on Ethereum. This aspect also offers insights into the modular design evolution discussed in later chapters. Actively Validated Services After incorporating Massive, the entire process flow for L2s could be transformed as shown in the following diagram (Fig.4): By extracting the ZK verify function from L1 and placing trust in the security of the Massive network, then adding a challenge mechanism to reduce the probability of Massive acting maliciously, the entire system's security will depend on the security of the Massive network. If the ecosystem of these ZK L2s is more finance-oriented, Massive could be built on EigenLayer's AVS to ensure the cost of acting maliciously is sufficiently high. Conversely, if the ecosystem of these ZK L2s is related to gaming or social scenarios, then a basic Massive construction would suffice. Capital Efficiency Staking and re-staking have recently become very popular concepts, focusing on capital efficiency. Reutilizing staked assets to achieve compound interest is an attractive economic mechanism currently seen in platforms like Blast and Manta. Unlike these schemes, Massive offers a novel destination for native assets across various networks, as well as for staked assets, by allowing them to become nodes within the Massive network through staking and re-staking mechanisms. Since the Massive network can provide more users, lower costs, and improved security for ZK L2s/L3s, nodes within the Massive network will share in the network maintenance profits, embodying the "verify to earn" concept. Based on the actual circumstances of ZK L2s/L3s, different security levels of ZKVaaS can be chosen. The security level depends on the total amount staked and the number of nodes in the network. New Modular Design As mentioned earlier, Massive, from a certain perspective, further changes the process of blockchain modular design. Before Massive, modular design mainly consisted of execution modularization, with various Rollups solutions, and Data Availability (DA) modularization, with various DA solutions, leaving only verification, storage, and consensus functions on L1. After the introduction of Massive, modular design will evolve to include execution modularization, DA modularization, and verification modularization, with only storage and consensus remaining on L1. This is logical since verification itself is part of computation. Given that execution modularization has already moved computation off-chain, then only storage and consensus should remain on-chain. The specifics are illustrated in the following diagram (Fig.6): If verification remains on Layer 1 (L1), the specific consensus process involves each node executing, verifying proofs, and updating the state. However, if we extract the verification process and assign it to a separate network for consensus, the L1 consensus process would then only involve updates to storage. Under the latest modular design, existing L1 nodes will no longer undertake any computational tasks. They will only handle transactions related to the update of the global state and then execute the consensus process. There are two main reasons for this approach: As mentioned in previous sections, considering costs and security, the execution of verification can be significantly delayed. Therefore, extracting it and utilizing the Massive network for verification not only achieves rapid validation but also reduces the hardware requirements for verification nodes, making it easier for users to connect. The security of the separate Massive network is ensured by the amount of staked assets and the number of nodes. Compared to the original scheme, this might sacrifice a certain level of security (which depends on the value of the staked assets) but, in return, offers significant architectural advantages. The Ecosystem of Massive Leveraging the three core features of mobile phone mining, staking/re-staking, and Timely Settlement, Massive has the potential to become the largest network, providing safe, efficient, and low-cost services for a variety of ZK L2s/L3s. Additionally, due to its extremely low barrier to entry and profit effects, it will inject a significant number of real users into the industry. Massive's vision is to facilitate massive adoption within the industry. Mobile mining represents a highly exploratory practice. Through straightforward operations, lower thresholds, and continuous earnings, it aims to utilize the computational power of smartphones. According to statistics, the global sales of smartphones exceeded 1 billion units in 2023. Solana and Aptos have also successively launched their own Web3 phones. Through the Massive network, these devices will be leveraged. Since , I was dying to try the and see all its potential for my usual tasks. Apple showcased how this technology could revolutionize our workspaces and redefine our approach to tasks and creativity. I was particularly intrigued by its implications for IT management and systems design. WWDC2023 Apple Vision Pro Currently, we rely on a variety of tools to create, design, and present our ideas. But what if we could perform these tasks in a 3D space on a daily basis? I believe Apple might have the answer. Recently, I finally had the chance to try out available apps for presentations, mind mapping, drawing, and designing. I'm here to share my impressions and thoughts. Presentations: Key Note and Microsoft PowerPoint Already, you can find two of the most popular solutions adapted for Vision Pro: Key Note and Microsoft PowerPoint. It´s hard for me to choose between them, and I don´t think I have to. Both products are terrific and suggest new opportunities. I guess everyone can stick to their favorite or familiar product without worrying about quality and responsiveness. Interface For both KeyNote and Microsoft PowerPoint, the interface hasn't undergone significant changes; rather, it has been refined to accommodate eye control. While some actions took me time to figure out, overall, the interface feels intuitive and user-friendly. I enjoyed it both with and without the environment, but the former is preferable for me as it allows me to concentrate on my work without distractions. Killer Features For KeyNote, definitely, rehearsal environments is a killer feature! It works amazing, and you can feel yourself in a conference room or in a theater. You can see your slides for practice and choose the view: with or without notes, show the next slide or not, and so on. Unfortunately, there are no people simulations. I suppose there might be Apple personas in the future. For PowerPoint, there is information from the : Microsoft blog Use PowerPoint to make a lasting impression with powerful and customizable slides and presentations that make you stand out. The Immersive Environment of Apple Vision Pro allows you to practice your presentation like you are presenting to an audience. Truly you can work with any app in the Vision Pro environment (not just PowerPoint), those are forest, moon, sky, and so on. However, rehearsal environments with a conference room or a theater are particularly a KeyNote feature, and you cannot use it in PowerPoint, at least for now. For sure, you can practice your presentation in any standard environment, but that´s not the same experience. Drawbacks The main drawback I've encountered while working with presentations via Vision Pro is the virtual keyboard. As someone who frequently creates detailed presentations involving numbers and text, composing these elements directly on Vision Pro can be challenging. The responsiveness of the virtual keyboard is lacking, resulting in slower typing and more errors. For now, I would choose either to connect a physical keyboard or to use my laptop as the foundation for presentations - Apple Vision Pro allows me to do it. Moreover, I would say that it was difficult for me to work with text and numerical blocks for a long time in Vision Pro. It's too cumbersome for me, and I can't relax like when watching a movie. I have to sit, type, and think while wearing a heavy thing on my head. That isn't as comfortable for me, but this is a very specific problem. The Verdict Keynote and PowerPoint on Vision Pro are perfect for making final adjustments and practicing your presentation. You can immerse yourself in the environment and focus on your work. You can enlarge the screen significantly, allowing you to easily view all your notes and slides. Moving slides and blocks, changing pictures, and leaving notes are all effortless. This experience is much better than working with just a laptop. Unfortunately, even though the virtual keyboard is among the best on the market, it's not yet perfect. Therefore, it might be challenging to create an entire presentation from scratch using only Vision Pro. However, connecting with a laptop works seamlessly, making it still possible. I will use Vision Pro for final preparations and to practice my presentations, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Drawing and Designing: FreeForm, Figma, Miro This section, to be honest, left me somewhat disappointed. While FreeForm performs adequately, its functionality is quite limited. Miro and Figma offer a broader range of features, but, unfortunately, none of them are adapted for Vision Pro (Miro is available as an iPad version, and Figma is available in Safari and in a wrapper application), so the responsiveness is low. Killer Features FreeForm is a standard Apple app available on iPhone, MacBook, and iPad. As an Apple application, it works smoothly. Gestures are instantly recognized. I particularly enjoyed the ability to bring it close and use it in a manner reminiscent of an iPad where you can draw with a finger instead of gestures. The initial experience of feeling the paper with my brain was genuinely perplexing. There is a library with different elements, so I see it as a specific tool for designing and not just drawing, but for now, it's more like a vision of the future. Figma and Miro have all their powerful features available but only as unadapted apps. Drawbacks Regrettably, FreeForm offers only a limited set of functions for now. Whether additional features will be introduced remains uncertain. Presently, it seems suitable only for basic drawing tasks. Moreover, even though the gestures are recognized well, it's still difficult to design something quickly. It took too much time and patience to draw this simple scheme: Figma and Miro, among other apps, encounter challenges in adapting to the Vision Pro interface. A common issue is the difficulty in processing gestures, which hampers smooth usage. For example, selecting an object may unintentionally move the entire canvas, leading to inefficiencies in work processes. Or you can struggle with object capture. These challenges pose significant obstacles to productivity and make those apps uncomfortable to use on Vision Pro. The Verdict I recognize the potential of this technology. Combining the strengths of the apps could result in amazing tools. I believe that utilizing Vision Pro for drawing and designing has the capacity to revolutionize the entire process. The flexibility to design while standing, sitting, or using the screen as an iPad is truly remarkable! However, we must exercise patience and allow the apps the time needed to refine and expand their functionalities further. I eagerly await the opportunity to see and experience these advances firsthand. Mind Mapping: Miro and Mind Note As I mentioned earlier, many well-known apps like Miro and others are not optimized for Vision Pro. While you can access them through a web browser or their iPad versions, it's not as convenient. When discussing Vision Pro-specific apps, one notable mention is Mind Note. The interface caught my eye with its aesthetic appeal, although not everything functions flawlessly. Killer Features One standout feature in Mind Note is the fluid movement of nodes, which makes working with mind maps exceptionally convenient. While Miro also offers this feature, Mind Note on Vision Pro expands it with its smooth performance and adaptivity. Vision Pro seems like the most efficient way to work with a mind map, making you feel like a hero creating something in a movie. Manipulating nodes, switching between them, grouping and ungrouping, and adding new ones are all effortlessly executed using gestures, much quicker than on a laptop or iPad. Furthermore, expanding the display to view the entire map without physically moving it just by turning your head facilitates a comprehensive view, fulfilling the primary purpose of mind mapping. This approach to creation resonated well with me. Even printing is a seamless process here. Printing extensive text blocks within the mind map is unnecessary, so the virtual keyboard is more than sufficient. Drawbacks However, there are some basic functionalities that have yet to be fully adapted or completed. A notable drawback, from my perspective, is the absence of pinch-to-zoom functionality (both in Miro and Mind Note). This feature seems essential, and its absence is somewhat disappointing; I hope the creators address this in the near future. Additionally, there is a cost associated with Mind Note, and without it, the functionality is significantly restricted, rendering the app more of a visual treat than a practical tool. The Verdict In my opinion, Vision Pro stands out as an ideal tool for mind mapping. It provides focus, a holistic view, and effortless node manipulation, offering optimal conditions for creative and effective mind mapping. Using Vision Pro exceeds the experience of using a traditional paper or browser version. Despite existing drawbacks, Vision Pro is a promising choice for mind-mapping enthusiasts. Conclusion Vision Pro is a powerful tool for creating, designing, and presenting ideas. It allows us to extend our current tools, giving us more space and possibilities. Unfortunately, since Vision Pro has just launched, there isn't a huge selection of apps in the App Store, and some apps are limited in their functionality. However, the speed at which new apps appear and existing ones improve is incredible. So, I'm sure we'll see plenty of updates in the near future. Let me know what you think in the comments!

How Paris Became a Hotspot for Blockchain Innovation: Michael Amar Tells All Ishan Pandey: Hi Michael, I am delighted to welcome you to our "Behind the Startup" series. Can you share the inspiration behind founding the Paris Blockchain Week Summit? Michael Amar: Thank you for having me, Ishan, and pleased to meet you.  Of course, well one of the key reasons back in 2019 for this journey was that I felt I wanted to put Europe on the map regarding eyes on blockchain and the excitement of it, there was not really anything at the time that had a platform to showcase the best of Blockchain. This also includes the fact there were and are so many amazing developers and start-ups, that we could bring all of these elements and more together, in one place. Another key advantage of starting when we did was to run with the flow of regulatory and legislative frameworks, it is a critical part of the progression of the space and we have grown with this development also. Ishan Pandey: With your experience in founding and exiting multiple companies, what lessons have you learned that have been particularly valuable in the blockchain space? Michael Amar: Global thinking. What do I mean by this? Well I feel that specifically in Blockchain, how international the companies are because the teams are usually also spread out all over the World. With this market being relatively thin, you have to think on a Global scale all the time. This I feel is a valuable learning over this short time because you are then prepared and have a solid foundation in your mind and for the company to work in an adaptive and efficient manner. Another key area I would say is valuable is the focus on revenue, it is all very well discussing users, tokens etc. but ultimately the focus of revenue generation and security of that should be highly important. Ishan Pandey: What key strategies have you employed to secure funding for your ventures, particularly in the blockchain space? Michael Amar Actually, I have never raised for any of the blockchain ventures I have been involved in. So besides this point. I want others to realize a deep knowledge of Web2 and expose it to Web3 as much as possible. This I knew would have an impact on start-ups and that if you surround yourself and the space with bright and upcoming companies, including the fantastic existing ones of course, the space will reap the rewards. This is what I love to see which in turn can help boost funding/revenue across the industry and into ventures. Ishan Pandey: The Paris Blockchain Week Summit has become one of the major international conferences in the blockchain field. What challenges did you face in establishing and growing such a significant event, and how did you overcome them? Michael Amar: This is a great question, as many event start-ups probably face similar challenges. From my perspective, of course, it was not easy to start the event in 2019, you are a new event and you need to have trust and confidence instilled in you which, to be honest has two sides. One you have a great team which we have always had, which helps a lot to bridge the trust and processes etc. the other side your speakers and sponsors need to see value, or if you are new, to at least see a clear path. You want the best speakers and attendees, they want you to ensure you execute their strategy for the event and their participation also. The other area of challenge is building the attendance, year on year, bigger and better, for example, 1700 to 6500, to 8500 then more than 10,000, it is a story we have built, we always improve, we grow with the space, it is very rewarding and exciting. The venue choices, scaling and logistics surrounding these choices, how do you remain relevant with all the new markets, the ever-evolving space that we are in, it all comes down to many variables but as I say you have a great cohesive team ethic you will be rewarded and of course building extensive networks that will help you grow as well. Being agile is very important, you have to adapt or react to potential last-minute changes, be in-line with the industry narratives and evolutions, with various market issues that may arise, you just work harder and you aim to be smart and agile. I think these are the key challenges and some of the responses to undertake to counter the challenges. Ishan Pandey: Being active in both B2B and B2C markets, how do you see the blockchain revolution impacting businesses on both sides, and what opportunities do you foresee for entrepreneurs in the space? Michael Amar: I am really focused on the B2B2C co-ordination, I want to see beyond just tokens and crypto or even the speculation behind a lot of it, I want to see the actual utility of blockchain, essentially the blockchain revolution within B2B and B2C markets. So I feel the next big opportunity is what we call real world asset tokenisation, with the usage of crowdfunding 3.0 approach where you could buy tokens within a property or a hotel for example, which could be liquid but you can exchange it, this can be applied to many sectors and many assets, you know, Real Estate, Energy, Healthcare, and this can adapt to every enterprise level which will ultimately drive the B2C users. Ishan Pandey: Paris Blockchain Week Summit focuses on international collaboration. How do you see the blockchain industry evolving on a global scale, and what regions do you believe will be key players in the future development of the technology? Michael Amar: I think we are going to have a few hotspots right? It has changed a lot for sure. In my mind, before blockchain, the epicenter of technology was Silicon Valley, whilst it is still a strong area, it is not the case anymore that it is leading, so for me, you have New York, Montreal, Canada is doing really well, especially in Toronto. Paris is of course rising, Lisbon, Switzerland, especially for the fiscal part of the industry. MENA cannot be ignored either the last couple of years and their continued growth, Dubai another. It goes back to one of your previous questions, it truly is Global and a collective. You can see that we have good healthy collaboration with most events, specifically large international events so we all help each other to develop and especially in a technical way as well. Ishan Pandey: How do you perceive the current bull run affecting the trajectory of the blockchain revolution, particularly in terms of investment trends and technological innovation? Michael Amar: We can see that the bull run brings more money to the table for sure, mostly it also brings awareness not just in the investment sphere but also externally, even to new users or investors currently outside the crypto and blockchain space. We have just scratched the surface, this is why it is highly exciting that at Paris Blockchain Week we present these improvements and evolutions to our audience, you can see it. Please tell us about your background and what inspired you to create Masa? Brendan Playford: I became fascinated with crypto and blockchain technology in early 2013, while still living in the UK. I was an early Bitcoin miner, and got lucky solo mining the first blocks of DOGE. I used the proceeds to set up retail hardware businesses selling Bitcoin miners on eBay. Coming from a disadvantaged part of the UK with just a GPU and some time, I was able to unlock more value than I could imagine. Masa’s data is unique and proprietary – not scraped publicly available data or aggregated on-chain data. Masa’s data which is private by default and anonymized to be compliant with global regulations and is aggregated through partners and permissioned directly from users participating in the Masa Network. Further, users can become data aggregators themselves by scraping data through the Masa Chrome Extension. Masa is distinct and unique by giving users the ability to store and share their data privately while giving developers the ability to access high veracity and validated data to build a universe of innovative and hyper-personalized applications. Ishan Pandey: Could you explain the concept of Zero-Knowledge Soulbound Tokens (zkSBTs) and how they function within the Masa ecosystem? Brendan Playford: Masa invented zero-knowledge soulbound tokens, as debuted in the 2023 7th Cyber Security in Networking Conference. zkSBTs serve as an encrypted “personal data locker” for our users' data. With zkSBTs, a user can actively store their personal data on-chain and off-chain data in an encrypted soulbound token which is assigned to their digital identity. What’s so unique  about Masa’s zkSBTs is that a developer or application can request data from a user which can be verified without ever revealing the underlying data. For example, if a developer is requesting you to confirm you are above the age of 21, Masa only needs to provide a "yes" or "no" zero-knowledge proof without revealing your raw Date of Birth data to the developer. It’s a way for users to manage their own data, while ensuring the highest-level of privacy in a permissionless and fully decentralized way. Anyone is free to use our code and contribute – it's all open source! Ishan Pandey: Could you discuss the business model of Masa, particularly how it generates revenue and sustains its operations? Brendan Playford: The Masa Network is a data marketplace. We have a scalable data supply that drives a massive flywheel across multiple enterprise clients serving millions of users. Additionally, users are able to permission their data to be shared with developers or data buyers in exchange for compensation that is defined by the buyer or user of the data. Our enterprise web3 clients access aggregate user data for free through our Masa Analytics product – think private by default Google Analytics where you (the user) can monetize your data. Our web2 and web3 AI and Data clients bid on data types and use large amounts of data to train AI and machine learning models. The use cases for Masa’s data are mind-boggling and only limited by creativity. Masa generates revenue on fees charged for accessing data through the Masa Network – Masa Subnet and Masa Oracle Node – and from the data marketplace. Ishan Pandey: What challenges did you face during the development and growth of Masa, and how did you overcome them? Brendan Playford: From technical complexity to the bear market – there has been no shortage of challenges getting Masa to where it is – and this is only the start of a 20+ year vision. At Masa we turn every challenge into an opportunity. We focused on recruiting top talent and operating lean, while keeping focused so we can unlock hyper velocity to experiment and learn fast by rapid iteration at a velocity of a team twice or three times as big – this is our culture and DNA. Since we’ve invented so much technology at Masa, including zkSBTs, we had to build and engineer our own solutions, which required a lot of discipline and expertise to ship fast to production
By taking this focused – never scared to pivot approach –  Masa grew tremendously through the bear market. Nailing data product market fit with our analytics product, and growth campaigns – tightly coupling the grow, measure, iterate cycle for our clients and productizing the Masa DNA into our product for clients to use. Ishan Pandey: How do you envision the future of personal data ownership and privacy? Also with the increasing regulatory scrutiny on data privacy and AI, how does Masa navigate compliance and ensure ethical data practices? Brendan Playford: The increasing regulatory scrutiny on data privacy with the deprecation of cookies and GDPR becoming the de facto standard globally, coupled with the unbounded growth of AI, is the perfect storm of tailwinds for Masa – not only was this part of what inspired our model but the hypothesis we had is playing out before our eyes. Since users have very limited control over their data and receive no compensation for it, we wanted to introduce a model that disrupted the big tech monopoly on data – bringing trusted equitable access to data to everyone! At Masa, user data is always stored private-by-default – imagine a digital locker that is with you everywhere gobbling up all of your data ready for when you want to use it – Masa ensures a user maintains control and privacy over their data at all times. This allows them to choose what data they share and who they share it with. Users can opt-in selectively to monetize their data or in the same way you can invest in a diverse pool of ETF in your IRA, invest your data automatically in the best data staking pools to optimize the return on your data passively. Imagine an index for your data – a transparent and open data market for everyone. Ishan Pandey: With the rise of decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain technology, how do you think financial systems and services will transform in the future, and what opportunities does this present for Masa? Brendan Playford: In the future, I believe that blockchain will become the de facto system of record for the world's private by default personal data. The web3 and AI tidal wave will lead to billions of users coming on-chain, all securing their data footprint on Masa. With  AI revolutionizing  the world, companies will continue to create massive demand for personal user data as model differentiation becomes increasingly difficult and data becomes the main differentiator for model tuning.
