The Goal… Allow me to introduce you to what I consider the most important part of any successful : the Token Metrics. This article strictly covers the implementation of a utility token economy, one vastly different than that creating security tokens. If you’re looking for best practices on a security token economy, this is not the article for you. ICO The Token Metrics, also known as ‘Token Economy’, are your projections on how you feel the distribution, trade and eventual stretch of demand over the supply of those tokens will work in the short, medium and long term, with the objective of growing the value of the token for the benefit of its holder. Some may argue that the tech, application, whitepaper and team are the most important part a successful ICO. However, in my view, this step is so crucial it goes beyond just being one part of the whitepaper, and is a step in itself due its own article. If you don’t thoroughly calculate a sophisticated Token Metrics, resulting in a healthy token economy, it is likely that post-ICO the value of your token could drop and you’ll have a project with unhappy participants, and a setback in your the progress going to market fully. You must consider the right token algorithm of supply and demand that will deliver the returns needed for your token holders, and that also satisfies the financial requirements of the project. Think of this as cash flow forecasts with action stimulants built in designed to increase demand and throttle supply. Not easy. You are basically doing the same thing on a micro scale that governments do when creating budgets, and fiscal and monetary policies to ensure the correct levels of growth, inflation and value of currency in an economy. blockchain To help, I’ve created a list of do’s and don’ts so you don’t screw up your entire project only months after your ICO raise: Pointless Pie Charts: Don’t just create an oversimplified breakdown of your entire Token Metrics, like so many do, which inadequately shows a basic pie chart with a portion of tokens for the raise, some for the treasury and a whopping allocation towards founders and team. I’ve spoken to too many ICO’s who believe that this is suitable enough to justify the token metrics and basics for distribution. That is not metrics. It’s a vague overview riddled with problems, which may have worked in 2017, but is not, nor should this may have be enough to get away with now. Large Founder Allocations: No one wants to deny you the reward of creating a brilliant idea and taking the spoils of it, however, the time is over for the ridiculous terms of the past where a founder team would hold giant token allocations (20%), and got to release on the ICO and monthly tokens then on after. If you want to see a token value drop out of the sky like a lead balloon, do this. Ask yourself, “what does it say about the team if they reached the financial finish line and are already looking to exit so quickly, whether the project has been a success or not?” No one is going to back you, that is a fact. Details, Details: Your Token Metrics must be laid out as though they were a detailed set of accounts, with all the necessary forecasts regarding the demand on the token, its release into the market, and how the company aims to keep a healthy level of supply and demand in the near and far future. Future Anticipated use of the Token: Don’t create a project that is a ‘one trick pony’ when it comes to the use of your token within your platform. If the market is to see any form growth, it needs to be stretched and used for multiple purposes in the future. It’s fine if at first launch there’s only a single use on the platform, but you need to have and communicate vision and forecasted metrics that identify and quantify the potential multiple uses and demands on your token. Token Lock-ins: Whilst you go through the process of your ICO, many parties will join the journey such as advisors, partners and, of course, the core team. These individuals and entities might possibly be allocated a portion of the total token economy as an incentive for their efforts during and after the raise. While standard practice, be aware that providing such incentives must come with clear Terms and Conditions, namely that they must have the correct level of token allocation and ‘lock-in’. The reason being is that these individuals could sink the value of the token in one foul sale, leaving the rest of the holders hugely disgruntled. The art of keeping a sustainable and ever-growing token value is to maintain control of the release of tokens and the amount of demand created for them by the actual practical use of the utility. Forecast of Token Demand: If you have built or run a business before, you’re aware of cash flow forecasts. Creating token demand forecasts are no different. Once the token allocation is complete and you are able to allow the utility use of the token, you should have within your control (beyond secondary market transactions), the ability to forecast the level of demand that on your token on nearly a daily basis. This is a mandatory exercise, as you should not look towards secondary markets to increase the requirement on your token. The project alone should be treated as if it is completely self-sustaining. If it isn’t, you look like an extremely high risk as at the hands of the market (which, if it’s anything like the current, August 2018 slump winter, your project will be dead). Dividing up the Token Pot: Consider how much of the total token economy you wish to present into the market from the total token economy. There is no exact science here, but commonly 30–40% seems right to sell within the ICO raise. You must be aware that you have to be clear in your whitepaper and to other token holders if and when you plan to release more tokens into the secondary market from your token treasury/reserve. The Right Level of Treasury: There should always be a treasury left within the entire token economy there to support the token metrics after you launch the ICO. Again, percentages can vary, but it seems common that 30% is left in the treasury to support the business activities and manage a healthy token metrics from then on. Valuing the Price of your Token: This one always gets people. Honestly, where do you start when it comes to setting a market price for your token? Reality is, it’s much more straightforward and logical than you think. Reverse engineer what you are looking to achieve and the volume of business you think you are going to do. An example: Take the full and justified amount required to raise in order to complete your project, let’s say that number is $20,000,000 (A) Choose an entire token creation number, something up to 1 billion, for example, reason being there is an element of realism that comes when putting new tokens to market at the ‘cents’ value. Then take between 30–40% of that token amount to offer in the sale. For this example I will say 40% — 400,000,000 (B) Do the calculation of A/B=C 20,000,000/400,000,000 = $0.05 per token go to market price. Discounts During the ICO: It is very common to offer bonuses, discounts or additional tokens to early purchasers in your ICO, whether that’s on a whitelist or in private rounds, to entice them to participate. The only thing to be very aware of is modeling what impact this actually has to the long term Token Metrics of the project. Giving away tokens and bonuses is a great way to attract funds, but it’s also a great way of throwing the metrics out of sync and having a crashing token economy. In summary, all of the above points need careful consideration and to be applied in context to your project, but I believe this framework sets a solid guideline and consideration as to what is needed to deliver a successful ICO. Once your Token Metrics baseline is formulated, it should be regularly reviewed and updated in all your marketing materials and collateral during the raise. I’ve said it before and will say it again- a successful ICO isn’t one that raised money, that’s only 20% of the story. The truly successful ones not only make their raise but also deliver a healthy token economy that grows and sustains the project. If we are going to see the world of blockchain mainstream, we must focus of creating sustainable Dapps and protocols with less volatility and greater adoption. Viable Token Metrics is the backbone of a project using crypto, and in my opinion, the most important part of doing any ICO.

A lot of buzz is going on in the blockchain industry with the recent trend of STOs. However, we can’t say it’s an absolutely new concept as there were some STOs even during the days of ICO hype. During these bloom days of ICOs, entering into the market with security tokens was not very popular, we’ll figure out why after this article. Even now, many projects and investors who are looking to dive in and invests on STOs do not understand the what makes it different to ICOs. In this article, we’ll deal with the fundamentals that make STOs different from ICOs. To full understand the differences between security and utility tokens, you need to understand their nature, and most importantly their purpose and use cases. Utility tokens in their principle give their holders access directly to the products and services of the company that issued these tokens. It’s important to understand that in these cases, Every utility token should have a specific use case within the system. On some occasions, incentives and bonuses are possible on some products or services, but once again only within the project. There will definitely be projects in which the utility token is a suitable model, where it is truly a utility. But the current situation has smoothly led the market to looking for a compromise that first of all protects the interests of the investor. So, behind a smokescreen of fundraising, STO appeared on the scene. As mentioned earlier, security tokens entered the market during the active surge of the ICO and this type of investment has been discussed for a long time. For example, one of our clients, the Paygine project, has been already entered the market with a registered security token in May 2018, giving certain non-utilitarian benefits to its potential buyers. But for the most part, until recently, companies gave more preference to ICO. Truth be told, this is often explained by the reluctance to provide investors with significant benefits (of which we speak further) and what is equally important is to go through a more complex legal framework, which is required if you correctly invest in STOs. So, what is the Security Token Offering and what could be the security tokens? Security tokens, in fact, can be equated to securities. They can give their owners, for example, ownership that is accordingly regulated. So in the US, the SEC resolved that security tokens are knuckle under to the same federal laws as standard securities. This type of token can be backed by company assets, such as stocks, the right to receive dividends or the right to vote. And undoubtedly for investors who believe in a company, this is a more transparent and safer type of investment. Since financial regulators consider such type of tokens as securities, this protects the tokens holders, and most importantly — gives them real rights. There are three main categories of security tokens: - When entering STO with this type of token, each token is equal to the company’s shares, giving their owners equal voting and dividend rights, and the holders themselves are equal to actual shareholders. Equity tokens: - Suitable for organizations that trade in physical goods, such as real property assets, gold, etc. Thus, tokens can be protected by reserves of underlying assets. Reserve Assets Tokens: - In distinction from the tokenization of shares or assets, this type of token security is essentially debt-based, with the promise of the subsequent redemption of these tokens from investors. Debt Token: As you can see, all of these categories are quite familiar to the classic bond market. And most often STOs offer their investors real benefits: dividends, equity, right to vote, rights to the distribution of profits, call feature (buy-back rights). - Who are STO investors — are they the same as ICO? But, besides the token functionality itself, there are several fundamentally important things, including those that distinguish STO from ICO. First, security tokens must be registered with the appropriate financial authority, including those depending on the country of the issuer’s jurisdiction and the geography of potential sales (for example, SEC in the USA). This is a major advantage in providing additional security and transparency for investors. Nevertheless, it significantly increases the legal costs for the project in order to comply with financial regulations and rules in this market. Secondly, the fact that security tokens are regular equate with securities, limit the type of investors who can invest in this type of tokens. In fact, only accredited investors can invest. Requirements include at least one of the following conditions: - Annual income of more than 200,000 USD per person or 300,000 USD per couple; - Net assets of more than 1 000 000 USD, excluding the investor’s main residence; - Institutions with assets of more than 5 000 000 USD; - Legal entity completely belonging to accredited investors. Compliance with these criteria is often problematic for small investors. This narrows the possibilities of STOs in public sales to attract the largest number of investors, not limited to their own capital or geography, as it was with most ICOs. However, these are the rules of the game. More legitimate ways always lead to restrictions that can be a limitation for the general group of small private investors, but standard for professional investors. Certain changes and restrictions have affected marketing activities and promotion of token sales, but that will be the topic of the next article.

Define perfect? In this situation, I can. If a convinces others that your idea has merit enough to support with coin, cash, time, public recognition, or even just a shout out on social, then your whitepaper is perfect. And the more people it impacts, the more perfect it really is. whitepaper Doing this is VERY HARD. If you’ve read my other 2 steps, you will know that step 1 is writing a light paper used to engage the right advisors, which I address the selection of in step 2. Now is the time to leverage their expertise to create the perfect whitepaper. From your thorough vetting process, you will know that your advisors have the insight and experience needed to know guide how the whitepaper should be crafted with the goal of raising funds and gaining advocacy towards your project. However… it is your responsibility to do your research. You have conceived this unique business idea and articulating it into a structured, whitepaper format requires precision. Study other successful projects. Take note of why their whitepaper makes them stand out. Whitepaper Must Dos: Make your mission clear Show off the team Explain the market Product overview What problem does your project solve? How does the tech work? (make it clear why blockchain is needed) Token metrics* Explain the growth strategy Close with your advisors and partners Make Your Mission Clear This first statement will set the tempo for the rest of the document, make it inspiring, clear and relative to what you are looking to do. A shallow mission statement will disappoint, but one that has meaning can intellectually invest your reader in the first minute. Show Off Your Team Get bio’s and relevant links to LinkedIn/Twitter of your execs, tech team and support staff. Update and polish all social platforms where the reader can learn more about you and them. Interestingly enough, this is a time consuming step, so leave yourself time to this chase down, with headshots. Your team might be rockstars in their space, but that will be lost if their bios aren’t clear and well-written. Feel free at this point to include any press logos or ‘as seen in’ mentions right at the beginning, as again, it starts the reader off in a positive view about the people behind the idea. It will also buy you time. Often if the reader does not understand what is in front of them, but is aware of how credible the team is and see all your press, they’re more likely to invest the time and understand your project. Explain the Market Make a quick overview, establishing industry size, growth and influencing market factors. Plant seeds into the minds of the reader that your product has enough demand to ensure grow and profitability. Product Overview This section is split into two: ‘what Problem does it solve?’, and explaining the tech. My recommendation is to include any visuals, figures, graphs or tables that help the understanding of potential lay readers. During my tenure of pitching new product ideas to potential investors, I’ve had moments of deep frustration where I explained the ‘Eureka’ moment and the entire room has just looked blankly. Remember, because they don’t eat sleep and breath it like you do, the reader of your whitepaper might struggle to get just how brilliant what you’re proposing is, the first time they read it. Do your best to make things clear, simple and logical. What Problem Does It Solve? This section, in my opinion is the most important part out of the entire document. Here you give your project purpose- from the product, the blockchain use, the potential ROI, plan for executing a successful , and the viability of a lasting token economy. When a problem is solved, it becomes the de facto solution which users embrace into their lives. This is real success. ICO How Does the Tech Work? So if you aren’t already aware, you are pitching to a demographic of investors who are primarily technical individuals by trade. This means that the tech part of your whitepaper needs to really shine and the explanation of your use of blockchain needs to be fully thought out. Any holes in the tech and you may as well forget a successful ICO. Token-Metrics* Otherwise known as the token-economy. I asterixed this, as it is of course part of the these whitepaper steps, but in my opinion, it’s also a step all in itself. Without the metrics properly thought out, the entire economy will fail after your raise and the ICO will be a complete failure, something that cannot happen. Once you have this mapped out, it needs to explained succinctly. Explain the Growth Strategy Anyone in this market, from investor to follower, is going to want to know how you plan to grow your idea into a blockchain success. The growth strategy needs to be something that feels well thought out, and not an afterthought. You may have got everything else right up until this point, but if you can’t strategically explain how you are going to take your project to market, and how the market will embrace your project, then you’ve failed. Close on Your Advisors and Partners In later steps, I will explain partners, as they come later to help deliver your project all the way to raise and beyond. But in this instance, you may only have advisors right now to list in your whitepaper, and that is fine. This section aims to convey that your project is backed by people and services that ensure success. What is the difference between an advisor and a partner? Advisors are mostly individuals from the ICO/Blockchain space who will already be on board by now, supporting your project. Partners can be company suppliers in the space who help with everything from Telegram community management, PR management, and networking to potential investors in the crypto space. Normally, advisors help introduce the best partner/supply/vendor relationships. Note that these intros can come at a cost, so by this point you may want to consider doing some sort of small raise towards helping towards these costs, especially if you are starting from a zero capital position. Now, format the paper. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Too many projects make the mistake of overwhelming the reader with jargon. The reality is, most of your potential token holders won’t have specialist knowledge about your industry. Remember this and review. And then review again. Simplify. Ask people who are familiar to you to read it and explain it to you — can they, or is it still too complex? You should expect to re-draft the whitepaper potentially twenty times. No joke. Don’t write “War and Peace”. It’s easy to over-explain, repeat yourself, and write more than is needed when you are trying to sell the next big thing. Simplicity is exactly what your project, and the whitepaper reader needs. Now, empower everything in the paper with your brand. Everyone likes looking at something that is visually appealing, so design the document to look professional with diagrams, images and even infographics, where it appropriately assists the data. Last, but by all means not leas, use your advisors. I said before and I’ll say it again- this is your main support team for the ICO side of your project. They know the process, are your greatest hope to getting the best advice on what your whitepaper needs. So use them. And if they’re not helpful, you don’t need them (see Step 2). A good whitepaper is critical to securing success. The biggest mistake you can make is assuming it only serves to raise you money. It isn’t. It is the most visible, and highly demanded touch point for your emerging project, and reflects your strategy and intention for its long-term success.

How to do an ICO — Step 3: Writing the perfect Whitepaper

Cryptocurrency and ICO related scams have been on the uptick, in the first 5 months of 2018 alone, $1,61b was lost to scams and hacks. This results in two major issues for the cryptocurrency and ICO space: Governments are paying closer attention to cryptocurrencies with the intention of finding a way to regulate them. Scams are driving crypto newcomers away from the market If the issue of scams and bad actors is not addressed by the crypto market internally, regulation will likely become the go-to solution for solving these problems. Since the current best practice steps presented to token buyers are very basic (research the team, read the whitepaper, check the roadmap & token metrics, and join social accounts) it doesn’t allow true novices to safely enter the space without risking that they might fall into a scam. Regulation has tended to be reactive as opposed to proactive; and with no end in sight on the resourcefulness of scammers, the cryptocurrency space is at risk of being heavily regulated or worse, forgotten by the public as soon as a big enough scam occurs. We are in the business of not only keeping crypto alive — but thriving to include the mainstream audience — people who stand to greatly benefit from what crypto and blockchain have to offer. Government attempts at token regulation have proven to be flawed. Firstly, because tokens are built with technology that is specifically designed to be resistant to censorship, an outright token ban isn’t possible if it’s properly decentralized. Secondly, there is no precedent for crypto: governments should allow technologists in the industry and the market itself to self-correct and offer solutions to evolve the market. Scammed in an ICO?

If you’ve been following me since the beginning of the year, you’d know that I’m currently quite happy. I haven’t really felt the bear market and my portfolio is quite significantly larger than it was at the start of the year. The key to making money in both bull and bear markets is knowing where to put your money (and by paying attention to previous articles like one). I have been indirectly ‘shorting’ BTC since December, but I do it by investing in lesser known projects with good short and long term potential, rather than risking my money on BitMEX for short term trades or throwing it on any hyped ICO. The plays in question have been MATRIX, Huobi Token, and FUSION which have all performed very well. That leads me to my next topic… IoTeX. this When evaluating a project I have what I like to call I only invest in platforms, not dApps, and I only invest in projects after they have come up favourably when being addressed with the following questions: “The five pillars of a perfect blockchain”. Is it suitably decentralised? Is it fast, extensible and scalable? Does it have competitors? How does it compare to them? Is the team competent enough to develop what they’re proposing? Is the team competent enough to facilitate mass adoption? IoTeX scores very well on all accounts. What is IoTeX? IoTeX dubs itself as the next generation of the IoT-oriented blockchain platform. The Team is Too Legit to Quit The GBX team has been working together for several years since establishing the Gibraltar Stock Exchange (GSX) and many of them possess several decades of experience in their respective fields whether that’s finance, law, or tech. With staff and founder tokens vested over 3 years these guys are clearly committed for the long haul. They also have one of the best forms of a proof of concept with an operational Gibraltar Stock Exchange. In their whitepaper they stated that if they failed to reach the ICO hardcap they would pull capital from GSX to help fund remaining milestones. Fortunately they sold out in their public sales within 9 seconds so they won’t have to resort to this but just knowing that if they do ever run into trouble, GSX will be there to help pull them out. Last but not least, after having watched several interviews of the CEO, Nick Cowan, the guy comes across as a genuine sick k*nt and is just someone I would want to see lead the way for a project of this magnitude. There Will Likely Be Strong Demand for GBX Buyers will want to buy and trade on GBX because: GBX will provide an all in one solution for buyers with several trading options including Fiat to Crypto, Crypto to Crypto, as well as a platform to participate in the latest and best ICOs. No more hassle of repeatedly entering KYC details over and over again to whitelist for different ICOs beccause it’s all on GBX. Much lower risk of your KYC details getting hacked or leaked so you don’t have to worry about your identity getting blacklisted and you getting thrown into jail when you visit some random foreign country. (If this happens, just remember, don’t drop the soap.) Less of a need to perform research and due diligence to figure out whether a project is a total scam, a money grab, or just plain full of shit as GBX and their sponsor system will handle that leg work for you. Project teams behind the ICOs will want in because: It helps get rid of the headache of having to deal with everything that goes into running an ICO from KYC/whitelisting to smart contracts to managing funds and everything else that needs to be taken care of. This also means they avoid or minimize the possibility of scams and hacks occurring during their ICO. ICO is done under a regulated exchange and jurisdiction so this will help cover their asses and ensure they don’t break any laws that could come back to haunt them. With major exchanges having 3 month wait lists to get a token listed, many projects are having to settle for getting listed on obscure and low volume exchanges. However for the issuers of ICOs on GBX, they are guaranteed a listing on GBX’s crypto exchange Application and listing fees are reasonable and amounts to a lot of time saved and money on lawyers, external KYC services, and other requirements which could be better spent on developing their product and further building their community If GBX takes off, other exchanges will also want to list the tokens that ICO on GBX because they won’t want to lose market share or traders. And as GBX is aiming to attract ICOs of the highest quality and caliber, you can bet the other major exchanges will want to list them because everyone will want to buy them! For Institutional Investors: The Gibraltar Stock Exchange (GSX) intends to be the world’s first regulated exchange for trading security tokens. This is massive because security tokens are essentially a gray area in crypto right now and there is no regulated exchange available to trade “tokenized securities”. The GSX plans to shift towards an auditable, blockchain-based exchange where all participants will be registered holders of securities tokens satisfying the concerns of regulatons regarding tokenised securities. GSX plans to operate the GSX as a centralised tokenised securities exchange beginning Q3 2018 before they transition to a blockchain-based system Q4 2018. With a regulated exchange and environment available to trade in for institutional investors, this means those of them who want to get in on crypto can finally enter the markets because they won’t be violating any rules, laws, or regulations. The other cool is that when GSX does move to a blockchain-based system, there will be less time for settlement on stocks. In traditional markets, the settlement date for trading ranges anywhere from 2 to 3 days whereas on a blockchain system it would be immediate. Is This Rock Really As Solid as it Looks? Having laid out the pros, it’s now time to tear the project apart and feed you some FUD. As with any project, there are several risks associated to it and it wouldn’t be fair to not share what some of those risks are. Competition tZero is the closest competitor to GBX that I can see however they’re looking to raise $250M as opposed to GBX’s hard cap of $27M. tZero hasn’t publicly specified when they plan to launch their exchange aside from mentioning it will be sometime later this year. GBX is aiming for a Q1 2018 launch for their crypto exchange and so would have first mover’s advantage if they do execute. Many of the other major crypto exchanges want to do what GBX sets out to do but this is a real challenge for them due to the trading infrastructure they have in place as well as their mindset and ability to move quickly. If they can barely keep up with opening new accounts how can we expect them to also operate and become regulation compliant. The real true barrier however for these exchanges is the lack of regulatory support in their respective jurisdictions whereas Gibraltar seems to have a strong hard on for crypto. The State of the ICO Market With the way the current ICO market is going, we need to consider whether high quality ICO projects will even continue to offer public sales as more and more astute investors flood into this space. Many of the most promising ICOs are currently managing to fill the majority — if not all — of their fund allocations through private sales, thus choosing to forego the need for a public crowdsale. In the future, we may see more and more DApp projects emerging as platforms solve their scalability issues thus enabling DApps to have more viability. If this results, then these projects will likely want their utility tokens to be in the hands of people who will ACTUALLY use their token within their ecosystems, as opposed to investors who are just looking to flip, sell, or hodl their tokens and make money. Centralisation I queried the team as to whether GBX and GSX will be centralised aka permissioned blockchains or public decentralized permissionless blockchains. They weren’t able to give me a straight answer. Going off some basic logical deduction however, it’s more likely than not that the GSX and GBX blockchains will at least start out as private blockhains, which means GSX and GBX will act as centralised entities and exchanges. This in itself is not as useless or stupid as some people believe because the blockchain technology can despite what many think, still work and provide benefits without a token incentivizing the need for nodes. This is pure speculation on my part however it is something to be considered because the trust and faith of the crypto community towards centralized entities is important in regards to the adoption of them. As we all know several hacks have been committed on centralized exchanges and there are other inconveniences that may result from centralized entities such as “planned” maintenance and not allowing withdrawal of cryptos during such times. The flip side of this however is that centralisation, ironically enough, would likely allow institutional investors and traditional finance to enter into this space because they have more trust in the old traditional way of running things, as opposed to a blockchain that works by having anonymous individual nodes located around the world cooperating together. It may also be that to fulfill regulatory rules around crypto a centralized entity will be required to begin with. Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen? Looking at the macro perspective of what GBX is aiming to do, the whole picture can seem somewhat overwhelming and highly ambitious. There are a lot of moving parts, factors, and parties to take into account for the whole GBX ecosystem and crypto exchanges to mesh well and work together. The primary reason why exchanges such as Coinbase, Gemini, or GDAX don’t list heaps of different pairs for fiat to crypto or introduce crypto to crypto trading on their exchanges is because they are the most regulatory compliant exchanges out there. This means they are under much heavier scrutiny as to what they are able to offer and have hefty penalties and consequences if something does go pear-shaped. With the backing of the Gibraltar government however, this as mentioned can be the real game changer and X-factor in allowing GBX to build out this whole suite of crypto offerings including Fiat to Crypto, Crypto to Crypto, as well as a regulated platform for ICOs to be issued and buyers to participate in. MVP — MVP — MVP There is no github that I can see for GBX at this point in time. You could technically say that this is solely a whitepaper project, however one could also argue that they have an MVP in the form of the Gibraltar Stock Exchange. In the whitepaper it was also mentioned they have 43 full-time developers and IT staff working on the GBX project currently. The Gubment Despite the Gibraltar government being pro crypto, this doesn’t mean the normal obstacles and hurdles of Government red tape does not lay ahead of them. As is the case with governments, there is the possibility of delays that could halt the progress made on the GBX and GSX projects. The Gibraltar government intends to bring an ICO regulatory framework to vote in parliament Q2 2018. If this regulation is rejected or delayed for whatever reason, this would inevitably delay GBX’s progression on the roadmap laid out. The other major elephant in the room is that Gibraltar IS a British Overseas Territory and with the Brexit due to happen in 2019 when UK exits the European Union. It isn’t clear what this could mean for the crypto laws and regulation put in place in Gibraltar. All in all If GBX manage to tackle what they set out to do by getting the first steps right and setting up the ICO listing platform so that it works well. It’s likely they’ll be able to attract top tier quality projects, and this will then attract the best investors and buyers to the exchange leading to a wider scale adoption as everyone else will want in on the best ICOs too. The demand and confidence behind GBX has seemingly been made loud and clear with their public sale selling out in 9 seconds. Against this, the $400 million deployed by 105,000 investors into ICOs is a drop in the ocean, but an area that was rapidly growing with the potential for a real bubble. The importance of ethics (and regulation) As with most ICOs worldwide, there has been scant attention to ethics or regulation, with many tokens either hugely over-promising or simply trying to circumvent regulation out of ignorance or fraudulent intent, especially in China where the requirements for listing on exchanges like ChiNext aren’t overly onerous.
