Hey, everyone! We, the Indie Hackers SPB Community, organized a one-week Bootcamp: in our free time, we built a product from scratch and launched it on Product Hunt. We got the badge and over . Now, I want to share our experience. At the end of this article, I will share our , that we found extremely helpful for the launch preparation :) #3 Product of the Day 30 installs of our app in the Slack Workspaces Notion checklist The Final Result: We’ve created an to get faster approvals on documents, time offs, expenses, and more. App for Slack We made it to the on Product Hunt. #3 Product of the Day Our app received and in the workspaces. 600 site visits 30 installs Here is how we made it: Day 0, Start: Several people responded to the Bootcamp idea in the community chat, and only 4 made it to the first call. Later, we got one more teammate, so there were 5 of us. We discussed the goals, format, and limitations of the Bootcamp. The main goal was gaining the experience — to go through the entire process from idea to launch. The limitation was the speed of implementation. I also wanted to get organic traffic from the marketplace. Therefore, we decided to make an App for Slack. Day 1, Brainstorming: We choose the following tools: Telegram — for quick communication, Notion — for knowledge accumulation. We agreed to document our ideas independently and to put each idea into a table with fields: Title Target audience Problem Audience volume (scale from 0 to 10) Complexity of implementation (scale from 0 to 10) Competitors Contacts of potential users Day 2, Idea Prioritization: We came up with more than 15 ideas. We prioritized them in terms of ease of implementation and audience size. We voted and chose two: a Slack App for invoices generation and a Slack app for conducting team polls on team mood. Day 3, Customer Development: We found 3 potential and interviewed 3 potential users for each idea to validate the need. We discovered a more defined need than just generating invoices. Respondents noted that generating an invoice itself is not as difficult as getting the approval on the discount or extra documents. We decided to validate this in a follow-up survey. Invoices: T There is interest in the topic among HR and C-level managers, but, in most cases, such surveys carried out quite rarely (once every half a year — a year), which became a red flag for us, as it threatened to get a low retention rate in the short run. eam Mood Analysis: Day 4, Findings Validation: We prepared a survey to validate our findings and shared it with the large communities of Founders and Sales / Operations Experts: RevGenius, Indie Hackers, et.c. As a result, we received 12 answers and confirmation of the problem of approvals: it turned out that it takes the most time to get approvals on documents from lawyers (up to several days). Also, difficulties arise with the approvals of time-offs and expenses. Since there is a risk of being left without an answer to the approval request, respondents quite often had to spend time writing follow-ups to their managers. Day 5, Analytics: Based on the survey results, we concluded that the most significant problem that we can solve on this Bootcamp is to cut the waiting time on the approval requests. We chose Paddle to process the subscription payments. We did a competitive analysis, found only two relevant solutions in the Slack App Directory. One is tailored solely for the expenses coordination (ControlHub), and the second one — for the document approvals (Coment). Coment even launched on PH but did not make it to the top, and it is limited to only document approvals within a channel. That seemed inconvenient and not covering the most common use case — writing a direct message asking for approval. So we decided to focus on the approvals of text and documents with a specified teammate. Day 6, Development: For the first time, we got together offline in a cafe. On the development side, we created a linear workflow for the app and worked on the connection of the app to the external workspaces. We bought a domain and made the first version of the landing page on (thanks to Alexander Isora for this amazing platform and the support of our initiative). http://unicornplatform.com/ We designed the logo and illustrations for the site. We have started working on materials required for moderation in the Slack App Directory. Next, we prepared all text materials for publication on Product Hunt. Last but not least, we started the registration process on Paddle. Day 7, The Finish Line: It was supposed to be the final day of preparation. We planned to launch on the 8th day. We decided to give all new users a 30-day free trial (a standard practice for such apps). During this period, we could finalize the product and add the payment processing so that users can pay for access from the card. We added the analytics (GA + HotJar) to the landing page. While we were testing the app, several bugs came out, and we decided to visualize the use cases to simplify the testing process of the core functionality. We used Figma for this task. Due to the instability of the app, we decided to postpone the launch until we fix all critical bugs of the MVP. The next 3 days… …we spent testing, fixing bugs, and finalizing the materials for publication (edited the text and prepared screenshots) The Final Product: Our app lets teams to cut the waiting time and to eliminate lost approval requests. Be sure that nothing will be missed out thanks to automatic followups Get instant notification when your request got approved or rejected with comments View the history of all your requests without a time-wasting search in the Email and DMs Managers can: Accept or reject incoming approval requests in one click right from Slack Never forget about the request with automatic reminders Easily track your approval decisions without a time-wasting search trough DMs and Emai Day 11, The Launch: The launch happened spontaneously: we didn’t want any more delay, as in that case, that might turn into a second job, which was not the purpose of the Bootcamp. Instead of the recommended 12 a.m. PST, we launched at 6 a.m. We hunted our product, although there was an option to get hunted by a guy with a large number of subscribers — this could give a significant boost at the start, but we did not have time to arrange that in advance. In the first hour, we received around 30 votes, mostly from friends. Our product was in the Newest section, but it did not appear in the Popular section on the homepage. At this point, we were a little nervous since we already have more upvotes than half of the launched projects and was supposed to be on the main page. We contacted the support but never received a response. It’s worth noting that the average response time displayed is one day, so it’s better not to rely on prompt assistance right after the launch :) Suddenly — our project appeared on the main page — immediately on the 4th place. We asked to support us on a few Telegram and Facebook groups and Slack channels. It helped — in 4 hours after the launch, we got to 3rd place, getting close to the first hundred upvotes. Before we appeared on the main page, most upvotes came from the people from chats. Now, there were many more active PH users. Also, there were many new comments with questions and suggestions. We hit 100 upvotes and was confidently moving to 150. For a few minutes, we even were in 2nd place. Having received a well-deserved badge, we decided to take a short break and, after that, to look at the final results and to make a retrospective. We also had to make an important decision — whether we want to continue our work on the product? A few hours later we ended up being #3 Product of the Day. Final thoughts: It was an amazing experience! We made a from scratch that became #3 Product of the Day and got our first 30 users, including well-known companies. product I think if we spent more time preparing for the launch, the result could have been even better. But the main goal of the Bootcamp was to gain experience in a very tight timeframe, and I think we did a great job. How We Made a Slack App in 11 Days

I came late to the crypto space. Technically i got really involved mid 2017 but i tried to immerse myself deep in that space. I have gathered enough information to understand why Crypto is here to stay. I am very bullish on the long term trend and how decentralization will impact our every day digital and maybe non digital life. But i have also made observations that truly worry me in the short term. They stick with me like a shadow that does not leave you in the Sun. They could all have significant impact in the short term life of the crypto innovation cycle. It is hard to say to which extent. So after here are the factors that worry me (And heads up, this post is *not* about “ ”). my exercise of anticipating what could happen in 2018 bubbles 1. Mass Superstition There is a difference between believing in the future of something and being informed. Blindly buying into crypto (or dismissing it) is dangerous. The problem is that in the past months a huge fresh influx of people, usually misinformed, came to the crypto world. Some will call that greed, or speculation or simple a sheep-follow-sheep mania. I actually do see that as a positive and necessary part of the education process. The problem is that when the majority of people owning crypto are not well informed enough, they won’t have the bullet proof jacket that is necessary to cope with “bad news” when they occur. This could, out of laziness, cause a panic movement that could accelerate an irreversible hard crash (i am not talking about the typical 30/40% correction). 2. The role of (ignorant) mainstream media The business of media is to generate page views and sell ads. The flashier the headlines, the better. And mainstream media rarely covers news accurately. If you understand any topic well, and read in most newspapers how this same topic is covered, you’ll know what i am talking about. The impact mainstream media has on rallying a crowd or dismissing an industry is still enormous. The fundamental issue i see that by way of amplification through social networks, the information provided to make wise decisions is rarely there. Add to that the Fake news factor: how many coins and tokens have already been affected by fake hoax or news provided in the networks. I am truly worried we’re in majority exposed to information that is not good enough to sail in the seas of that industry. If there is one clear bubble right now, it’s the media bubble. Social networks and App stores have to play a major role in building the trust layer that is necessary. Detecting early bad news, bad players, scams and more is going to be become critical. But are they equipped to do it? 3. Token owners / Token users ratio I will say this, even if that makes a lot of entrepreneurs not happy: but the majority of people buying into ICOs do not care about your precious token, your mission or your protocols. They care about making a quick 10/100x. No one buys your token because they plan to use it. I doubt that those who bought Kin tokens are Kin users, or Zrx tokens owners plan to use them. Some may believe in your mission, but the is in the low digits after your ICO is done. “hodl factor” We have billions of dollars invested in an asset class where the alignement between is not straight. And the reason is obvious: most of those token are not usable or even available yet. Their only value in on an exchange order book. the token issuer (your startup), the token buyers (traders) and the token users What happens when your company fails to deliver, or is no longer the darling of the investment community? it will crash. Keeping a crowd of investors, motivated by high returns is going to be a tough challenge this year, especially if you don’t deliver. 4. Crypto Entrepreneurs Safety Earlier this year, Vitalik Butterin visited Israel along with other personas of the industry. It was stunning to me to see how, those people who carry so much responsibility on their shoulders, walk free of worries. We live in a world where bad things happen. Where a few people have a high “perceived” impact on this new economy even though everything is decentralized. I wish no one any harm but i would worry about their safety as a priority because this could have serious “perceived” impact. If you doubt this impact, when a fake news on its founder got spread. Recently . see what happened to the rate of ETH there was a kidnapping happened in Ukraine Without going so far, even the risk of being threatened if your crypto does not behave well is not something you want to live with. I may understand from that angle why someone like Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin preferred to sell all his coins and not be constantly mob-lynched on twitter or other networks I also believe that everyone with a wallet in his pocket holding lots of “virtual money”, no matter how secure, can also be at risks. If your fiat wallet gets stolen, the loss is limited (call your Bank? visa?). But with crytpos.. you can lose a lot more…And wallets do not address this risk. 5. Government War They will probably fail at “killing cryptos” but i do believe a major war lead by some governments feeling they could/lose control will hit crypto services, companies and the ICO value chain. It actually . Hyper regulation could be one of the risks, outlawing some activities or making examples out of some companies. This will have a major impact on the health of the industry now focused on addressing this war instead of innovating. I do believe though this is a vain effort: governments have more to earn than to lose with crypto currencies started All the eyes are pointed to China and Korea where a huge part of the crypto economy is happening. China could take over or even ban the bitcoin mining activity, which would not be a good thing. Korea could shut down crypto exchanges which would have a very bad impact. Those risks are real 6. Organized Pump and Dump rings One would be naive to believe the price of all coins and tokens is traded fairly. There is out there groups of investors to artificially manipulate the price of some crypto assets. colluding I am not sure exactly how automated this is to date but this is not good and all exchanges warn users against those practices that are really hard to detect and the bigger the industry the higher the reward (with relatively low risks…) 7. Tax castration The governments may not like the raise of crypto but they do like the idea of additional influx of revenus by taxing you. And crypto will not be an exception. I hope our dear governments are not going to make this overly complicated because this could have an impact on how people are willing to take risks and adopt those new currencies. One thing that will make things a lot easier: the possibility to pay tax directly in crypto money. But if you have to report every single transaction, including the coffee you buy with you crypto visa card: good luck with that! I am for taxing gains, but the rules and mechanics to report have to be simple enough. 8. Open vs Centralized Chains The internal fights that we witnessed this year on Bitcoin is an example. Overall debate and difference of opinions is a good thing. It forces improvements. But when the governance of those involved in the development of an open source protocol is not working out well, it could mean its death. And if open can’t win, i anticipate that closed protocols may take over. But what would be the point then? Censorship-resistance and decentralization can work only with an open movement. There is no point in having high scale, high volume of transactions if the environment is closed or centralized. We’re back to ground zero. I hope the developer community can overcome internal fight and not kill the soul of what gave birth to the blockchain movement. 9. Mining concentration power It is becoming harder to mine cryptos. Harder and more expensive. Big companies like Bitmain and Bitfurry has leveraged that wave and a lot of the mining activity is no longer a side hobby but a true business activity lead by a few groups in the world. So yeah, you can argue Blockchains are decentralized but the mining activity seems to be. This is worrying because that could lead to extreme situations where the . Some say the raise of BCH vs Bitcoin has been possible because the mining power was concentrated, something that would have been very hard a few years ago. New coins and assets emerge and new blockchains with new mining protocols too. I would expect to see some Darwinism happening within each protocol and between protocols to clear that issue. mining power is aimed at generating 51% attacks Thou shall not fear I don’t mean to scare the readers here and i could have come with a more positive post for the 1st day of the year. But this is important to be aware of the risks when you invest in this particular space. Be bullish but highly pragmatic too. There is a price to be part of that industry, and it’s not the amount of money you’re going to pour in it. Navigating the space is incredibly hard. On-boarding this industry takes patience and extreme curiosity. There is no quick win. This is the price to pay.

Where we once might’ve promoted a weekend away, we’re now encouraging longer, more immersive experiences through marketing, exclusive mobile-only deals on stays, and by offering an average of 16% savings on hotels after booking a flight. One of the often overlooked developments in recent years has been the rapid emergence of metasearch engines. With shifting behaviours in how savvy travellers search for, compare, and book travel, we recognised the importance of these metasearch engines—which have quickly gained market share when it comes to the discovery phase of travel—and became the first crypto-friendly online travel agency to be listed on leading metasearch engines KAYAK and Google Hotels, alongside incumbents in the travel industry. Ishan Pandey: Cryptocurrencies have seen substantial growth in value and popularity since we last talked. How is Travala.com planning to capitalise on this trend? Juan Otero: The positive market action driven by the Bitcoin halving saw the cryptocurrency reach an all-time high in mid-March earlier this year and resulted in our bookings soaring, leading to the strongest quarter in Travala.com’s history. As approximately 75% of our bookings are purchased with crypto, we experience a strong correlation between a crypto bull market and high booking volume on our platform, given the additional value available for travellers to derive from their crypto assets in dollar-value terms.
With the fourth Bitcoin halving now behind us, we expect the crypto market to continue performing well in the next 12–18 months, based on historic trends following previous Bitcoin halving events. As such, an excellent manager who can wrangle hundreds of employees may not have a role in a start-up with a dozen people. With a complete understanding of where Hightouch began and where it could go, he used a two-pronged attack to fill his ranks. First, find the people with the right mindset, and then find the people who inspire others to excel. “Whatever the customer needs is your job.” It’s logical to assume that the most technically minded or scientifically gifted would be the best early hires. However, Gupta believed that engineers who focus on solving customer problems, as opposed to technology problems, would position Hightouch for success. “In the early days, a lot of companies will paint a vision and help their engineers think about solving very technical problems. We never did that. We just said, ‘Whatever the customer needs is your job.’” Gupta was not shy to tell people who solely concentrated on technical issues that Hightouch may not be the best place for them. Find Your North Stars Gupta is clear that you don’t want the person with the best management skills to be the leader of your company.  Instead, he finds the superstar individual contributors and elevates them to leadership positions. Gupta refers to them as “North Stars”. These leaders set the standard, drive the culture, and encourage others to act like them. One example he gave was , his engineering manager. In Gupta’s words, “he is great at inspiring people and just being the fastest executor on the team, making people realize that everything they do could actually be done 50% faster.” Ernest Cheng Identify the Culture Carriers Once the best people were found, Gupta knew he needed to let them build their own environment where they could thrive. After all, he knew they had Hightouch’s vision at heart, and they would naturally get the most out of their team by leading by example. He called them his “beacons for success.” Gupta said, “[Ernest] has grown so much in Hightouch, and he's a culture carrier. Why should I be the person to set culture within the engineering org, when he is what I want it to be like? So, I feel very good about the fact that we bring people in that have high slope and then let them define their org's culture and scale that out. That allows our engineering team to have a little bit of a different culture than our sales team.” Everyone Owns Sales The culture at Hightouch is one of collaboration and mutual success. Gupta mentioned, “Engineering is very sales-minded at Hightouch. Salespeople know that they can and should give the engineering team feedback, and that they can get action on that feedback to improve the product. Engineering knows that they're responsible for revenue goals. And because they know that, they depend on each other. They share information back and forth and collaborate much more deeply.” With a shared objective of helping as many of Hightouch’s customers as possible, Gupta’s team excels. Learning to Say No Gupta understands that the team can never outrun the limitations of manpower and time. Not being able to meet a goal is incredibly disappointing, especially when someone is both an overachiever and very passionate about that goal. This is the case for Gupta’s team, composed of very talented individuals dedicated to helping customers. He admitted, “We're really bad at saying no.” As CEO, he knew this problem needed his attention. To get better at saying no, Gupta has encouraged the team to make prioritization decisions. “I always ask them to stack rank because they always want to say everything is important. No. Tell me what is more important and what is less important. Then I make them find the line.” This leads to conversations about sacrificing lower priorities to apply additional resources to higher priorities. He asks, “What if you had twice as much time for item #1? Does that matter more than achieving priority #3?” Prioritization remains a challenge at Hightouch. I led the growth team at Codecademy and helped the company grow from $10M in ARR to $50M ARR+ before it . sold to a company called Skillsoft for $525M last year I learned a lot about the details that make B2C SaaS/Recurring revenue business models work well that I have yet to see written down anywhere. My real motivation here is to help the companies that have achieved a good product market fit and have yet to figure out how to make money. To survive in the long term, you need to do both, and plenty of great products have died because they didn't build out the business side fast enough. These lessons directly apply to freemium/SaaS businesses and (probably?) apply to other recurring revenue businesses such as subscription e-commerce, agencies, consulting, etc. I plan to cover the following: The mistakes we made and lessons we learned The most effective levers we found at each layer of the business (Payments, Churn Reduction, Extending Lifecycles of Users, Pricing and Packaging, Trials/Paywalls) COMPANY CONTEXT Codecademy, for those unfamiliar, is a B2C tech education platform that focuses on taking total beginners and getting them to a medium level of technical skills. The company started in 2011 and built what I still think is the best free learn-to-code product online. As all "advice" really depends on the context that it's coming from, here is where we were at as a company in roughly 2017 : Very strong, low-cost free user acquisition driven by the free product, excellent brand name, and strong SEO ranking Product market fit in the free product for users who are early-stage learners (i.e., not professional software engineers) Short/Intermittent usage patterns across all users - E.g., they show up for a few weeks/months to learn something, then leave for a while, then maybe come back in a few months/years. Not the best use case, but a solid one A paid product that was built but was still being figured out. TL;DR - We had a lot of free users but were terrible at converting them to paid and monetizing them. The final bit of context is that I am a product manager, so most of our work was on the product rather than in marketing channels. THINGS WE SCREWED UP Like most first-time growth teams, we made many of the classic mistakes in our first year. The most painful/memorable of those are: 1. Not understanding what to A/B test vs. just shipping it When we first tried to set up an A/B testing program, we got way too lost in the concept of "measuring" all of the impacts that we were having and not making any "assumptions". That was dumb. We actually debated if we should have a pricing page on the site and how we might measure that impact. I remember that adding a pricing page to the header had a small to medium-sized impact on conversion, which is great in theory... However, I would actually consider that one a loss, as we should have had this in the header the whole time. Don't debate the best practices, just implement them and figure our where you should break them. 2. Launching giant projects without enough due diligence The flip side of this, is that you should not assume that A/B testing is an excuse not to due the due diligence that you need on big projects. I think we shipped 3 different pricing page "layouts" to see which was more effective. I think that it took two months to run, was super expensive from a design and engineering perspective, blocked other tests and in the end, we didn't learn anything. We should have just made a decision. 3. Thinking of ideas that were "fun" or "fancy." One of the tenets of "Growth" is that you should be able to test any idea that you have a solid hypothesis behind. While I think this is valuable, its way more important to start with a solid foundation of best practices in your area. The "fancy" ideas (such as "running subway ads" or "partnering with influencers") only work if you have a solid funnel to drive this traffic into. 4. Working in the wrong areas of the application As I mentioned above, we re-designed our pricing page twice before realizing that a very small % of users purchase right from that page.  Most are purchased right from the product itself without going back to pricing. 5. Not iterating on good ideas that didn't work out the first time In retrospect, we moved on way too quickly from ideas that we had decent confidence in that didn't work the first time. If you are hitting a real customer problem, you did your research and V1 isn't working out, then I would take another shot. 6. Not implementing best practices fast enough As mentioned above, don't A/B test the basics.  Just ship them. 7. Not thinking through if a small win was worth the complexity that we're adding to the system & company operations. When you combine this with the friction of getting all the necessary tooling set up, learning how to run an A/B testing program, and building out the team.... this wasn't our best year. Additionally, B2C SaaS and subscription businesses can be tricky to grow for a few reasons, especially when paired with a free product/tier. These businesses can take a lot longer to grow because you aren't going to close a big enterprise contract, and scaling paid media is more challenging. The value you capture from users is spread across their lifecycle, so being confident about your LTV and the spending in marketing channels is hard (not impossible, but hard) Any time you do something like test new pricing (which you should), you can't really know the impact on LTV because those new users haven't reached the end of their lifecycle. When you're also running a big free product, it is hard to run direct response style paid media effectively as you can't really prevent users from finding the free product. Understanding payback periods for ad spend gets more challenging when they might spend variable amounts of time in the free tier based on the audience. OUR BIGGEST LESSONS Recurring revenue businesses are basically structured like the above diagram. Many companies go wrong because they only focus on making acquisition cheaper and faster when in reality, you should also have been systematically improving LTV to afford higher acquisition costs. There is a Dan Kennedy quote, which is something like: "The business that can pay the most to acquire the customer will win." Assuming that you don't have a bunch of VC money light on fire (and even if you do), the best chance that you have in the long term is figuring out to better monetize each monthly cohort of users and increase your overall LTV, which will allow you to spend more to acquire more customers profitably. Here is what I would advise companies in a similar place to do. This is a path toward reliably making improvements, not seeing giant lifts. 1. Figure out monetization early in your product/company's life. Everything gets more expensive to change the longer you wait. It involves convincing people, changing more code, retraining more sales/customer service people, etc. Every cohort that you under-monetize during your early years is money that you're never getting back. 2. While speed is essential in all businesses, it's extra important in subscription businesses Subscription businesses are slower to scale than most B2B businesses because most of your customers will pay incrementally across their lifecycle. You are not likely to close a big enterprise account that allows you to collect a lot of cash upfront. Because of this, every missed cohort of users that you didn't monetize well is a lost forever. The faster you get the best practices running, the more revenue you'll have to compound the following years. Don't overthink the fundamentals. 3. Work from the bottom of the funnel upwards unless you have a good reason not to. You're active paying users are hands down the most valuable to you. You don't want to lose them for things like payment failures that could have been prevented. If you are in a company that drives decisions based on A/B tests, you will be beholden to a concept called minimum detectable effect (MDE). MDE is, basically, the smallest lift you can measure with statistical significance (which basically translates to confidence). So if you have a high MDE, say 20%, and you ship a test that improves something by 19.99%, you won't be able to measure with statistical significance. There are ways of compensating for this, but this makes testing hard. The worse your overall conversion is, the larger the MDE will be, which makes A/B testing harder. But the upside is that improving things at the bottom of your funnel will lower (a good thing) the MDE, which raises the accuracy of your ability to measure things above it in the funnel. 4. It's hard to convince people to pay you money, so start by finding all the people who are trying to pay you, and it's not working Find all the dead ends and confusion across your product and fix those. Ensure the checkout page error states are clear, that any payment integrations aren't broken in specific browsers, etc. Are the bugs that happen during certain edge cases in important parts of the app? 5. Try to keep complexity low. Your goal is to keep development and operational speed fast, so check that any changes you make are worth the maintenance costs. For example, Suppose you find that setting up custom price structures per country raises revenue. From now on, the finance team will need to build multiple models to forecast revenue, the customer service now needs multiple sets of auto-responses, etc. 6. Focus where most users are and focus on improving clarity. Try to find the places in your product that most users are converting from and ensure that you're setting context correctly the step before. One of our most successful tests on our homepage changed the primary CTA from "Start Coding" to "Sign Up." Most of the time, we were cute with copy or messaging; it hurt us. Conclusion Setting up the basics of a monetization system makes a world of difference as your company grows. The cohorts that sign up and don’t monetize are likely gone forever, so it really, really pays to set up a strong foundation. If you can get to a place with a strong checkout page, pricing structure, paywall, payment processing and churn appeasements, then you’ll be better than 90% of early-stage companies. The pandemic caused unexpected growth for some companies due to changes in our behavior. What percentage of our growth comes from product-led channels like word-of-mouth and organic search? 4. How effectively are we using data and analytics to drive product decisions and inform the go-to-market strategy? 5. What is our net promoter score, and how has it been trending over time? 6. How well are we retaining and growing our existing customer base? 7. What is the feedback from our customers on product features, and how can we improve? 8. How well do we integrate product, marketing, and sales efforts to drive growth? 9. How do we build cross-functional solid alignment across the organization to execute a product-led growth strategy? 10. What are the metrics to measure success and set the right expectations with key stakeholders? Answering these questions can provide insights into the effectiveness of a product-led growth strategy. Consider how your company performs along these lines. Identify one or two minor tweaks to the product experience that might lead to improved KPIs. Even starting small is better than not starting product-led growth at all! 2. Embrace innovation as a critical component of Product-Led Growth. Innovation is a critical component of product-led growth. A PLG strategy requires continually delivering new and improved experiences to customers. Tweaking, testing, and measuring parts of the user experience helps us keep our users more engaged and drive growth, even as we enter a period of increasing consumer thriftiness. This requires a culture of innovation where new ideas are encouraged and rapidly tested—and failures are seen as opportunities to learn and improve. And while Tynker has constantly innovated regarding the education experience, it's clear now that focusing some of our innovation efforts on the user experience, onboarding, and so on can deliver significant dividends on the revenue front, enabling continued growth amid economic growth uncertainty.
