The social media company launched Collectible Avatars, limited-edition digital collectibles, back in July 2022. The holders of these digital collectibles can use them as their Reddit avatars. Reddit made the onboarding process damn easy. Users bought the NFTs in dollars using their credit cards, so they didn't need any complicated crypto setup. The Collectible Avatars run on the Polygon blockchain. Redditors can also transfer them from the Reddit Vault digital wallet to external wallets like MetaMask. Reddit worked with around 30 artists, releasing around 40k NFT avatars that could be purchased in the Reddit mobile app for prices between $9.99 to $99.99. And they instantly sold out. So What Made Reddit's NFT Launch Such a Success? Three things: They Knew Their Audience Crypto and NFTs remain unpopular on Reddit, and amongst gamers (who happen to be Reddit users), so Reddit never mentioned the words "crypto" and "NFTs." A big company or celebrity creates an NFT collection, sets an egregious mint price, sells out the collection, pockets the cash or, in our case, ETH, and leaves their audience holding the worthless bag. 🎮 Reddit Has Onboarded More People Into NFTs Than OpenSea 

Let me guess, you’ve spent countless hours on Reddit. You’ve laughed at all of the Game of Thrones season 8 memes, looked at a million cute dogs, and been stunned by some of the things people willingly post online. However, you realized that you were addicted and decided the best thing to do was delete your Reddit account. Or you just got bored of the website. Either way, you need to get rid of your account. Which brings up the question: how do you delete a Reddit account? How to Delete a Reddit Account The first step is obvious: go to Reddit and make sure that you’re logged into the account you want deleted. Once you’re logged in, click on your account name on the top right. This will open a drop-down menu, and the next thing you should click on is user settings. It will take you to a page with multiple tabs. Make sure you’re in the Account settings tab and go all the way to the bottom. You will see a red button that says, “DELETE ACCOUNT”. Click it, and a window will pop up asking you if you’re sure and to put in your username and password if you want to proceed with deleting your account. The window lets you know that once an account is deleted, it’s not recoverable. Another important point that it tells you is that your posts, comments, and messages aren’t automatically deleted just because your account is. They’ll live on, but people won’t necessarily know that it was your account that made those posts and comments. They’ll show up like this: If you’re okay with this, put in your username and password, checkmark the box, and hit the delete button. Another window will pop up that asks you if you’re certain you want this account deleted. Click on delete again, and that’s all she wrote. Reddit account successfully deleted. But what if you’re in a hurry to delete your Reddit account and can’t reach your computer? Can you delete your account through the Reddit app? Yes. How to Delete Reddit Account on App So, just for clarification, we’re talking about the official Reddit app. Not Apollo for Reddit or narwhal for Reddit. As far as we’re aware, you can’t delete your account through these third-party apps. Open the app, and press your profile icon that’s on the top right side of the screen. This will open a menu; press the Settings button that’s on the bottom. Then go all the way down to Support, and you will see a Delete Account button. Press it, and a window will pop up asking if you’re sure. Press “Yes, Delete”, and it will ask you to put in your username and password. After this, another window will pop up asking you why you decided to delete your account. This is optional; you can skip it and keep on going. Then it will ask you if you’re sure you want to delete your account. Press yes, and you will finally receive confirmation that your account has been permanently deleted. And voila, account deleted. Sometimes deleting social media accounts can be tricky, but Reddit makes it pretty straightforward. You shouldn’t have any problems. How to Delete Your Reddit Account

It’s hard to shock Collin Williams, a volunteer moderator for r/RoastMe, a comedic insult forum with 2.3 million members. But about a year ago, he was surprised by something in his own comment history. The ghosts of posts he had attempted to remove were still there. Per 2020 numbers, visit Reddit’s site each day and peruse some . Those communities are kept on-topic (and in theory, consistent with Reddit’s content policies), mostly thanks to human volunteers and automated bots, collectively referred to as moderators or “mods.” 52 million people three million topic-specific forums, or subreddits As a moderator, Williams tends to a garden of posts and comments, a process that includes removing posts that break subreddit rules. Moderators set their own rules for what is postable in their own forums, but also play a role in enforcing Reddit’s content policy. On r/RoastMe, those moderator-created rules outlaw posting pictures of someone without their permission or of people under 18, for instance. But even after Williams removed offending posts from his subreddit, they were, somehow, still viewable in his account’s comment history. This probably wasn’t a problem just on his subreddit. Williams was right. Across Reddit, when a moderator removes a post, the post is unlisted from the subreddit’s main feed. But images or links within that post don’t actually disappear. Posts removed by moderators are still readily available to anyone on Reddit in the comment history of the moderator who flagged it—complete with an explanation of the rule it violates—or to anyone who retained a direct URL to the post. “The moderator’s entire history becomes this giant list—basically an index—of everything that they’ve removed and for what reason. Reddit kind of accidentally created this giant index of stuff that humans have flagged as being inappropriate on the site,” Williams said. This is happening across subreddits. You can still find moderator-removed or (a major Reddit faux pas) of dog photos. But it also happens on subreddits dedicated to posting sexual or sexualized content.
