HYDRO was a classic pump-and-dump scheme, where the market maker called Moonwalker was manipulating the market by using a “bot” to submit buy & sell orders into the order-books on the exchanges, immediately canceling them, and printing fake volume, all with the goal to create an illusion of market activity and trading in the token. Apparently, the HYDRO token was listed on 17 different crypto exchanges and the “strategy” of the project was to list on as many low-volume exchanges as possible, with the goal of creating an illusion of trading & demand for the token, before approaching a large & establish crypto exchange with a proposal for listing. Hydro must pay $2.8 million in fines for the sale of a worthless token, while the market maker was forced to pay $42,000. Wash trading and pump-and-dumps are part of a bigger problem in the crypto industry, where the project issuing tokens face enormous pressure from the trading community, investors and exchanges to achieve unrealistically high returns and volume numbers. The project losses since they are conducting questionable & illegal activities that will long term hurt them. The investors and trading community are at a loss since they cannot trust liquidity, volume or the price of the token. If it seems like the worst is over, remember that assets like stocks, bonds, and real estate remain higher than their historical benchmarks. In other words, even after central banks wiped possibly $50 trillion off of the world’s balance sheets, major legacy assets still have plenty of room to fall before they get back to “normal.” Crypto, on the other hand, has already crashed. Its pump has already been dumped. Now, traders and VCs will settle whatever debts they owe each other while bad cryptos die, freeing up money and talent for good projects and healthy firms. Can’t ignore reality Mark, you’re nuts, crypto’s a mess, it’s all a scam, Tether will implode, $8,000 BTC incoming! Sure, if it happens. In May 2022, bitcoin’s on-chain and technical metrics showed the same signs as every previous market bottom. We can agree that bitcoin’s price can realistically drop to $14,000. Most altcoins will go to $0. At the same time, you have to appreciate the circumstances and accept the reality of the situation: Legacy assets offer less upside and more risk than ever. Bitcoin offers more upside and less risk than it has in a long time. You just might walk away from crypto to avoid one risk and walk right into another one. Don’t jump to conclusions Mark, you’re saying everything else will crash and crypto will boom? No. Mark, you’re saying everything else will crash and crypto will crash, too? Europe’s also having a tough go of it. In too many places, too many people have too little food, too many problems, and not enough money. We have many reasons for people to stay away from crypto and many reasons for people to sell their crypto. Before you start dancing on bitcoin’s grave, take a deeper look at the world around you and the assets you consider “safe” with “intrinsic value.” Make sure your government hasn’t lulled you into a sense of complacency, that precarious feeling that comes just before the collapse. The world’s financial leaders have pumped the markets for years. Now they’re dumping on it. What will happen next? And bitcoin… Maybe it’s worth having an asset that: Doesn’t derive its value from any government. Twitter users allege Manifold is guilty of prepetrating a classic “pump and dump” Twitter users have alleged that is guilty of perpetrating a classic crypto “pump-and-dump” following its latest NFT drop on March 28, which quickly collapsed into a debacle. While Manifold, one of the best-known minting platforms in the NFT space, has pinned the blame on bots and MetaMask wallet congestion - conveniently avoiding taking any blame itself - many on Twitter have said its own developers are to blame. They claim that the smart contracts used to facilitate the drop were unaudited and riddled with bugs. As a consequence, thousands of NFT buyers reported failed transactions, meaning they were unable to acquire the NFTs they attempted to purchase. However, they were still charged $ETH gas fees, with some reportedly losing thousands of dollars in the process. Some users did receive tokens, but even they reported being charged much higher than expected gas fees. Most, however, failed to receive their NFTs. To its credit, Manifold has conceded that the NFT drop “did not go as planned” and has promised to rectify the problems by issuing a new smart contract, without bugs, so as to deliver the NFTs to buyers as promised. It also promised to refund user’s gas fees, though to date many have complained they . haven’t yet received one Uncovering what happened with Manifold In an of the incident on its website, Manifold said the failed drop was the result of thousands of bots spamming the network, issues with MetaMask’s gas estimation functionality resulting from network congestion, and several buyers apparently altering the gas fee estimation in MetaMask manually. autopsy Twitter users however, that Manifold’s excuses were woefully inadequate and that neither the bots nor network congestion would have caused the smart contracts to play up in the way they did. Rather, they say the fault drop was due to bugs in the smart contract that appear to be linked to Manifold’s use of a randomizer to ensure buyers would receive a token at random from Pak’s NFT collection. So, in other words, Manifold is attempting to cover up its own mistakes and unprofessionalism. responded While Manifold’s attempt to shift the blame might be looked at as somewhat unprofessional, at best, the real kicker was its alleged behaviour in the immediate aftermath of the drop. Because Manifold compelled customers to buy $ASH tokens to purchase the NFTs, had risen from $15.61 to a high of $24.56 in the 24 hours before the drop took place. Then - boom! - dozens of $ASH bag holders dumped their tokens, crashing its price to less than $9 in a matter of minutes, all before news of the failed drop emerged. its value Until now, Manifold has made no mention of the $ASH token dump either in its tweets or in its autopsy, despite multiple Twitter users bringing the matter to its attention: At this stage, it cannot be proven conclusively that Manifold was responsible for the dump. What we do know, however, is that someone or several people immediately sold millions of $ASH within minutes of the Pak NFT drop, before anyone else but Manifold knew of the problems. It’s clear that anyone with prior knowledge of the transaction failures would have had every motivation to want to rid themselves of any $ASH tokens they might be holding. The consequences of the dump mean that thousands of Manifold’s customers not only failed to receive their NFTs, but are now left holding bags of seriously undervalued tokens. That’s in addition to the hundreds and thousands of dollars lost in gas fees due to the failed transactions. While some might forgive Manifold for its incompetence over the faulty smart contracts, if it’s also proven that the company or its employees were behind the dump too, it would be a clear-cut case of fraud and insider trading. The right approach to data preparation and choosing the right tools for creating a model can give great results even without making additional features. The spot market was finally driving the market. Not the derivatives market. it’s been three years since we’d seen this. Alerts continued to pour in. With several weeks of alerts it was clear Bitcoin was not just heating up, its  market was an inferno. Soon the reality of this macro shift settled in and we'd come to terms that the bull market was not something to question, it was here. But something seemed odd. The cacophony of alerts showed an organized effort. Not the type of effort reminiscent of a coordinated whale pump. Instead it was a new species leaving their footprints on the blockchain for the first time. It didn't take long for the news to hit. Grayscale had $300 million of inflow in a single day back. That was October. The new species was Wall Street. In response we knew it was time to get our hands dirty and begin digging into spot buying data and Grayscale. Their unique structure is what makes it possible. It’s essentially structured to hoard Bitcoin. BTC and USD (which is then used to purchase BTC) flow in and nothing comes out. The way Grayscale achieves this one-way flow is in the way they distribute  shares. Accredited investors or 'wealthy individuals' can sign up for Private Placements to receive shares. These accredited investors can then give BTC or USD to Grayscale. In exchange, Grayscale gives them an equal value of shares. If each share equals 0.001 BTC (In reality it’s 0.00095085) then for every BTC handed over to Grayscale, the accredited investor receives 1000 GBTC shares (minus a small fee). The catch is the private investor must wait six months before selling the shares on the market. That's where the non-accredited retail investor comes in. Aka the not so wealthy buyer. It might seem fair, the exchange of shares for BTC, but in reality, it's anything but fair. That’s because GBTC almost always trades at a premium. non-accredited or retail investors looking for a pure-play into BTC within the stock market are paying anything but fair value. Here's what I mean... Recently GBTC closed at $28.25. Bitcoin according to the BraveNewCoin Liquid Index closed at $22,830. According to the Grayscale website each GBTC share equals 0.00095085 BTC. Meaning fair value for GBTC is $21.71. The current price represents a 30% premium just because the buyer isn’t wealthy. And that’s a 30% premium going straight to the accredited investor who handed over their BTC. This strategy is how Grayscale created a Trust where Bitcoins essentially flow one way, into the trust. What accredited investor who owns Bitcoin is not interested in growing their balance in terms of Bitcoin? It doesn't matter if the price is $5,000 or $20,000. The value in terms of BTC grows as long as there is a premium. It's an almost risk free 30% return in six months. In a year, 69% if each 6 month period is a 30% return. The 30% return is pretty impressive, and natural economic pressures should bring this premium down to 0%. Yet, for some reason we just haven't seen that happen yet. Let's find out why. The Effect The easiest way I found to explain the Grayscale effect is by breaking down various periods of high inflows into the fund and looking at Bitcoin's spot market price action shortly after the dates shares are unlock. I then compared this with the change in GBTC premium slightly before and after this date. That's because rational investors will continue to buy-in to the Trust as long as this premium exists near the lock up. If it does, they are likely to rinse and repeat, adding more funds into the Trust. Otherwise, opportunity costs would likely push investors towards spot markets. To understand this better I broke high inflow periods into 10 tranches. I'll be running through each one. If you start to get bored halfway through, just jump to the next section where I draw some conclusions. I'll admit, it gets a bit redundant here, but I do this for thoroughness. So first up is tranche 1 and 2. The chart below shows two periods where the fund witnessed a large jump of inflows. Tranche 2 appears to happen after a brief period where no inflows were happening. Consider these 'flat' periods as moments when Grayscale did not accept new investors (similar to right now). These two tranches were set to unlock twelve months later around February 16, 2019 and April 13, 2019. Yes, twelve months. The six month lock up didn't come around until January of 2020. Now two weeks before each unlocking period the average net asset value was 18.8% and 23.9%. These figures represent the premium GBTC is trading at in terms of the total amount of BTC held by the trust. If there were $100 million in assets in the trust, it means shares are trading as if the trust is worth $118.8 million or $123.9 million. When the premium is 0% GBTC buyers are getting fair value for the assets held by the trust. Now where things get interesting is after each unlocking event. As you'll see, BTC has noticeable moves every single time. Here's the price shortly after the first two tranches. During these pumps the premium swelled to 26.1% on April 3rd and 39.85% on May 10th. Now, after two instances it can be considered a fluke. And it can also be considered a great coincidence that the first major unlocking occurred as Bitcoin bottomed out from its December 2017 high. (Note: That wasn't the first unlocking, just the most significant to that point) So to find out if this was a fluke, let's keep going. Moving on to tranche 3 and 4. Tranche 3 unlocked on June 9 and June 16, 2019. Remember, the 6 month lock up didn't changed until 2020. The week prior to tranche 3's unlocking, the premium on GBTC shares averaged 26.4%. At the end of the June 17th trading week the premium hit 41.9%. And for five consecutive trading days starting on June 20th the premium's average was 38.4%. Tranche 4, the premium's average was 31% for the week prior. Selling the second week of the unlocking resulted in an average premium of 38.1%. Two weeks makes sense here because this tranche had two weeks of significant upticks in inflows. Meaning you can interpret it as one week after the period of unlocks. Here is the spot market during that period. Quick note on why I'm showing the spot market here. If price were to be manipulated, it'll likely show up here. That's because premiums for GBTC tend to be influenced by the underlying asset, BTC. Therefore as prices rise, premiums can rise. And as price drops or consolidates, premiums shrink. The other thought for why spot is arbitrage. If shareholders are selling GBTC at a premium and buy spot at the same time, they fulfill two purposes. They buy back their BTC on the spot market and drive up premiums. It's a win-win as the price has no effect on the return in terms of BTC. Again, bitcoin can be $5,000 or $50,0000 and the return in terms of BTC does not change. The focus is on the premium. Move the premium, increase your stack. Now back to the doldrums of the tranches... Tranche 5 and 6 These two are unique in that the unlocking happened as the Trust moved from a 12 month lockup to only a 6 month lockup. The rule changed happened on January 21, 2020 and takes 90 days to go into effect. I was uncertain whether this applies to shares already under the unlocking timer or it only applies to new offerings. As I'll show you in a moment, my intuition says it didn't apply to shares already pending. Here is tranche 5 and 6. As you can see tranche 6 more than doubled the Trust's inflows. For tranche 5 the 12 month period ends on April 14 - 28, 2020. The rule change if applied to this tranche would be April 20. So not much impact here. The average premium before the unlocking period began was 11.9%. The premium average just after was 21.4% with a high of 30.7% on May 7th. This sizable jump surrounding the unlocking means the fluke and coincidence argument starts to lose water. Then there's Tranche 6, a monster. Here's the chart so you know what I mean. As for the premiums on tranche 6, the week prior to the unlocking on July 14th the average was 11.7%. This one got thrown off a bit with an outlier. The day before the unlocking the premium was 7.8%. The week after the July 21st unlocking was 18.25%. And the week after that it was 23.6%. Meaning there were plenty of opportunities to capture the premium. Tranches 7 through 10 are next. The rule change occurred on January 21st, so the rest of the tranches are 6 month lockups. Tranche seven ends up falling on July 20th and July 27th. This overlaps with tranche six in terms of the premium. No need to cover this again. Tranche eight was an absolute moon shot. It was a sustained period of inflows from April 27, 2020 through June 29, 2020. The various unlocking events started on October 27, 2020 and runs for 9 weeks to December 29th. In terms of what the premium was before, I chose to look at the first half of October. Tha'ts a period well enough before the gauntlet of unlocking events. The average for the first half is 11.2%. The average from the start of November 2nd to December 18th is 22.5%. Six days of which hovered above 30%. Another winning tranche. And each week during this series of unlocks is like a cash register of Bitcoin for accredited investors. There really wasn't much opportunity for an accredited investor to get it wrong. The price action supports this moon shot period. These unlocking events coincide with significant price moves higher. What's important to know is once these higher prices and premiums are realized after an unlocking, price goes on to consolidate. This lets the premium shrink again before its next unlocking event. Combining this information with Jarvis and its data on spot purchases its clear Grayscale is driving the market. There is nothing more important for you to focus on. Even 3 Arrows Capital is getting in on the game. They bought 21 million shares back in June of this year per the SEC EDGAR filing system. So What Does it Mean? The next major unlocking is set to happen around February 3, 2021. Meaning the time period from December 29th to the next unlocking will be void of unlockings. This voids enables premiums to shrink again just like the nine times before. And it'll keep shrinking until the next unlocking. Because of this I expect price to either consolidate or sag. Now, I say sag because the duration of the last unlocking is unprecedented. It unfolded over 9 weeks. The market is overextended after this huge rally. Combine this with what is typical over the holidays - lower trading volume and lower levels of liquidity. Then a scenario where momentum builds to the downside becomes very real. It's the holiday season, many traders and trading desks are enjoying time with family and not coming into the office. And as this holiday season effect happens as a gap in unlocking events begins, there is a real opportunity for lower prices or consolidation over a two month period. This means Bitcoin might not be a great trade for the first two months of 2021. If we don't get any dramatic moves lower, expect ETH and altcoins to have an opportunity to play catch up. Grayscale's (GBTC) Pump Effect Means 2021 Will Start Slow

Back in 2017, Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) were all the rave. Much like Initial Public Offerings, (IPO), ICOs act as a way to raise funds by selling a quantity of cryptocurrency in the form of coins to speculators and investors. But as time moved on and the crypto-sphere changed and matured, it soon became apparent that majority of ICO's were less of a legitimate effort to launch an honest and quality coin, and more of a pump-and-dump scheme used to fool the more naïve crypto-users among us. Last year, a Diar report confirmed that  more than 85 percent of  ICO's failed, and 70 percent of those tokens actually have less value than prices at the stage of fundraising. Binance Re-packages and Re-brands In swooped Binance, who are pros at manipulating the system for their benefit. The crypto-exchange platform, run by Changpeng Zhao, basically repackaged the Initial Coin Offering tool by swapping out the 'C' for an 'E', introducing the new and improved Initial Exchange Offering. An IEO is very similar to an ICO, save for the fact that it is cryptocurrency exchange platforms that host the token sales. The Binance website it as “a fundraising event that is administered by an exchange.” describes Technically, this should indicate more security as it is the exchange platform that is tasked with researching and then vouching for a project. If this was the case, it would mean a huge decrease in the possibility of scam projects being sold to investors. However, for Binance, IEOs is simply a revised ICO that allows them to hop, skip, and jump around regulatory issues of selling unregistered securities to non-acceptance investors. Simultaneously, IEOs also ensure an immediate top exchange listing when the coin is then launched. This is no surprise as CZ has readily admitted he has no problem bending backwards to avoid regulations, “we’re ok to do things very creatively to avoid unnecessary regulations.” stating Binance created its Launchpad Platform as a way to fully profit from the IEO trend. And it is quickly becoming a home to worthless altcoins (termed “sh*tcoins”), where pump and dumps are inevitable. Mania Has Begun The IEOs hosted on Binance have already shown signs of the mania that was characteristic of ICOs.  Well-known cryptocurrency investor and critic, James Spediacci, believes Binance Launchpad is slowly becoming the home to these worthless altcoins, and he does not see this stopping anytime soon. “Binance is doing everything they can to recreate the ICO mania of 2017 to pump and dump sh*tcoins again. Repackaging ICOs to IEOs, migrating tokens to a new chain, hiring liquidity providers to pump IEO listings, and making everything regulation free by being in Malta.” He on his Twitter account. claimed The most recent IEO offering on Binance Launchpad will be Troy, an upcoming crypto brokerage platform. Binance announced the Troy token sale on the 25th of November.  The project to raise $4 million at a $50 million valuation in the December 3 offering. Although CZ is doing his best to pump up customers for this project, many have already caught on to the trend and are already labeling this another pump and dump scheme. plans So, despite CZ's constant promises that his only motive of creating Binance is providing a safe space for crypto users, it seems his main motive when it comes to Binance Launchpad is milking the platform for all its worth, naïve crypto users be damned.

Is Binance Launchpad a Breeding Ground for Pump and Dumps?

As I was handed my new VISA debit card on the spot, I imagined the convenience that a powerful electronic payment solution would bring. Upon giving me the drill on my new card, the first words out of the bank manager’s mouth were: “Whatever you do, never use this debit card at the local gas pumps!” That’s right — I wasn’t allowed to utilize the convenience of my card at one of the simplest and seemingly harmless actions one can participate in. She told me that there was a serious problem concerning the pumps — one which had affected herself as well. I leaned forward in my chair out of curiosity, anticipating the reason as to why I wasn’t allowed to utilize my supposedly secure bank card. The reason for this dire warning was actually quite simple — and shocking. Many of the gas station pumps in the area were known to be compromised with an illegal credit card logging device known as a “skimmer”. In the last year, the number of skimmers in the state of Florida rose by 27.6 percent. In South Florida alone, nearly 200 skimmers were found in gas pumps. When you take into account the amount of traffic that each pump gets, especially in more populous places, the threat this issue poses becomes much more significant. With 29 million Americans pumping gas with credit cards everyday, and an estimated amount of $1 million dollars worth of fraud per skimmer, this is a disruptive issue that needs serious technological intervention. Shocking amount of skimmers found in Florida over the last year - source, WPTV How do credit card skimmers work? First things first — how do these things work? Most prominent in the states of Florida and Texas, Credit card skimmers are devices that are placed near the gas pump’s legitimate card reader. Frequently part of organized crime operations, they are often placed on the inside of the gas pump’s cabinet. The devices then log this data wirelessly over Bluetooth or even a cellular GSM connection, where criminals obtain the credit card information. Due to the wireless nature of the skimmer, the criminal never needs to return to the pump to retrieve their skimmer. Chip-based card readers are also in trouble; in the last year, devices known as “shimmers” have made their way into gas pump cabinets. These operate on the same principle as the skimmer, only they intercept card information from the supposedly secure chip-based card readers. To combat this issue, many gas stations began placing “security seals” to indicate if a pump has been tampered with. However, these stickers are easily replaceable once taken off, as the criminal can simply order a pack of 500 stickers for $69 USD online, making it not a very effective method for informing the public. Security seals do not aid in anti-skimming — they are easily replaceable How can NEM Catapult and IoT solve this? So, how can one solve this growing crime that affects millions of people in Florida and elsewhere? The answer lies with the NEM Catapult blockchain. We battle a high-tech problem with a high-tech solution! The use of blockchain (a distributed, trusted online ledger), with elements of Internet of Things (IoT), can aid in authenticating and auditing gas pumps and their activities. For this application, we can utilize the NEM Catapult blockchain, as it introduces several built-in mechanisms that will perfectly suite this application. To solve this issue, a low-cost IoT “anti-skimming” device is placed within each gas pump’s cabinet. This device will be equipped with a door sensor and smart lock. This is able to log who, when, where, and which gas pump was opened and (possibly) tampered with. In order to identify if the operator is certified or not, each IoT device would also utilize an RFID (radio frequency identification) tag to authenticate the person opening the gas pump cabinet. This authentication is done on the Catapult blockchain via two steps: Firstly, the operator that scans the pump’s RFID tag must own a non-transferable token (called a mosaic in NEM) on the Catapult blockchain. This token is a corporate or goverment-issued token, meaning this person would have to be a certified operator in order to own this token. Each of these tokens are placed under a Catapult “namespace”, which uniquely identifies the entity who issued the certification token. Each namespace on Catapult can only be owned by one entity, which verifies the legitimacy of the certification. For example, if the sender of the certification token is “shell-usa”, you can be certain that the operator was certified by Shell USA, and thus, is allowed to operate and open the pumps. Operator authentication using NEM Catapult mosaics Secondly, the gas station must also enter into a one-time, timed disposable smart contract (called an Aggregate Bonded contract) that grants the operator a window of time to perform the necessary, legitimate maintenance. If both the operator and gas station owner sign this smart contract, the IoT device will make note of this on-chain. This smart contract will signify that the operator has indeed shown up and interacted with the cabinet with the gas station owner’s approval within the allotted amount of time. One-time on-chain smart contract - called an Aggregate Bonded Transaction in NEM Once this authentication process is complete, the IoT device logs the full interaction directly on the blockchain as a valid event between the certified operator and the gas pump. If an individual was unable to complete the above steps, the device will log this interaction as “invalid”, notifying the gas station owner and prompting for further investigation on that specific pump. A concept mobile app that customers could use to discern whether a particular pump is trustworthy or not. On the left, a safe pump is shown. On the right, a pump may contain a skimmer. The blockchain will keep a verifiable ledger of the events of each gas station, and subsequently, each gas station pump as well. This also makes it more difficult for anyone attempting to gain illicit access to the pumps. Because each pump is now audited, customers can now verify the history of the pump by scanning the RFID tag, which will indicate whether the pump has been tampered with before. Crisis averted! Conclusion Utilizing blockchain and IoT will enable businesses to not only protect gas pumps from skimmers, but also other critical equipment that requires authorized and certified operators. Internet of Things is a very powerful tool that can simultaneously create conveniences for us while helping combat crime and improve quality of life. Gas Pump Skimmer Fraudsters Want Your Credit Card Number - NEM Catapult To The Rescue!

The State of The Market — November 7, 2018 : $6,528.88 (+1.32%) : $218.08 (+1.60%) : $0.5338 (+0.96%) BTC ETH XRP The cryptocurrency market is holding on to yesterday’s gains and Bitcoin now trades slightly above $6,500 after topping out at $6,615 yesterday. Bitcoin Rallies to $6,615 and Bitcoin Cash Pumps Before Next Week’s Hard Fork

People start asking: “Who is killing crypto? Banks or governments?” In fact, the explanation of why it grew so quickly and then similarly quickly fell could be very simple. When startups discovered ICO, the easiest means of investment was ether — you don’t have to create your own blockchain, neither make a fuss about issuing coins — everything is done by the smart contract. On the back of the global euphoria about the future of decentralization, the valuations of projects with just one whitepaper on hands were indecently high. All this required massive ether allocations. Several companies in the market that were investing in/helping ICO were making implicit agreements that the ether they’ve invested in will not be sold immediately after the ICO or even in several months after it (ooo… and they had a looooot of ether!). In return, they promised not to sell the startup tokens right after they’ve entered the exchange. The public engagement of these funds in the ranks of investors GUARANTEED the fundraising for any whitepaper, for what they were granted with large discounts. This all turned into a looping process: Supply of the freely traded ether in the market is decreased (worth of the amount invested in a particular ICO) As a result, ether’s price grows These foundations now have more money in the dollar value (maybe even more than before the investment) They look for another ICO that would agree on such terms It is basically the same as during 2008 real estate bubble — in order to sell more CDOs you had to give out more loans. Thus, after dozens of major ICOs, the number of free ether in the market has greatly decreased. The continuous price increase never gave reasons to doubt that not selling for $ is foolish. Later, the outside investors have joined the rally. The cherry on top of the pie was the opportunity to invest tokens just collected from one ICO into another ICO (in other words, invest one junk papers in the others), using THE DOLLAR ASSESSMENT of these tokens on the day of investments. That is how we saw whitepaper projects that were valued billions. It all ended up when ICO industry became too crowded. It became clear that in order to succeed you have to jump in ahead of others, and correspondingly — jump out first. Those who sell later will get less. In addition, over the year it became clear that the number of customers and incomes of the newly-made ICOs is close to 0. After a few days they dropped another 20–30% I’m sure that 99% of ICOs will collapse quickly due to the run out of money and product delivery failure (this has nothing to do with the crypto at all), while the most part of the remaining 1% will transfer money to another basket and get rid of the token.

Pump and dump way

These are usually small cap coins. They will start buying the coin before anybody else knows that they will pump it. They buy, smaller amounts, Piece by piece without driving up the price too much but it’s their incentive to gain as much of the before anyone else does. Anyhow because these are small-cap coins you will likely already see a little pump occur before the actual big pump occurs. Let’s call it the pre-pump-stage. This pre-pump-stage, is the moment to buy if you want to make some profit. cryptocurrency The group communicates the pump to their inner circle, usually the paid users, and they start driving up the price. The founders might already sell some of their stakes so they push some risk off the table. The group communicates, via social media, and to their followers (also the ones that don’t have a paid subscription) that a coin is pumping. People see double-digit green numbers so they start buying while the founders and inner circle slowly start selling more of their stake. Once there’s a sign the growth stops they sell big time and the Pump becomes a dump. that most of their stake is already sold and multi-digit-percent profit is made. There are still some users whose accounts where phished by these hackers and their bitcoins were used to buy VIA or other coins.
